The story could have had Marlena and Kate urging Will to help Sonny out to be there for him and Will not taking their advice....him staying away.....avoiding Sonny at all costs...then Sonny wises up and moves.on..and there is still drama there for more story...nope we get sleep with someone 101...not soapy at all.....Its lazy predictable writing.

So basically, no soap opera should ever tell a "soapy" story again as its been done. No stories involving secrets being exposed, whos the daddy, murder mysteries, love traingles, etc, etc, etc... Those are all no longer soap opera stories as they have been told?

thats ONLY story for will/sonny, this provides stories for many more characters. why tell a story about a few when you can tell one about a lot?

I simply don't like it because, they wouldn't do the same with a straight character. Jack Peyton, you say they are treating him like any other character, and I disagree. They are taking the easy way out, to simply have him do anything out of him being gay.

They wouldn't have Melanie jumping in bed with Gabi, or Nicole jumping in bed with Sami, or Abe jumping in bed with Bo. There are soo many storylines they can do with a gay character that is just as soapy, but nope, let's just have a gay man get with a woman after coming out. Why didn't they just make him bisexual (which I'm sure will be coming down the line for him).

Here you have this gay character that has spent months dealing with his sexuality. And we have watched him come to terms with it, we have watched him have feelings for another guy, and we have watched EVERY person he has told be supportive and accepting. Not to mention we had an amazing reconciliation scene with his mother.

Now we revert back to week one, with the whole "mommy doesn't love me" excuse...when we have watched for weeks, her being there for him at every turn. And yes Daddy and Mommy issues are a staple in soaps, but linking it to his sexuality is just idiotic.

And again this week we had Will love Sami again .....and now he is going back to my mom didnt give me love all over again.....Im sure the whole Will sleeping with Gabi will bomb in the ratings just like it did on ATWT and OLTL. Some are saying Gabi will come out pregnant...ugh...if that happens I am done with Days.

No they wont do that, but maybe years from now they would do something like that. I know of situations like that happening, and its sad that tv just acts like it doesnt. Tho, some shows have tried with female/female, tho one is usually a lesbian.

I agree, watching Will's journey has been great and they have played almost every beat very well. I am not sure however why that means that he cant have sex with Gabi after being scared seeing what happens to Sonny. Will is out to a lot of people, but he isnt out like sonny. He isnt out to the world at this point, from what I can tell. I think that a lot of teenagers in wills situation, recently dealing with their sexuality, would be scared of what happens to Sonny. Gay men, teenagers and recently out incldued, so in fact end up in bed with women. It isnt some far reaching, never going to happen thing. I think the choice of making him go there with gabi is great on a soap opera storytelling level. It provides a lot of stuff and options for a lot of the canvas to play.I really hope Gabi is prego, or even fakes it.

I also dont see this at all going back to day 1 with sami not loving him. thats not what this is about, not at all. even if it is,

I don't understand why Will even needs a child. When he gets the kid back from Gabi, or whatever, he will just palm it off on Caroline or Kayla, and never mention the kid again. There's no real story in this other than a few months of screaming and crying.

ok.. let me rephrase...

i dont think the REAL reason has anything to do with Sami. I think it is very topical and easy for Will to blame her without dealing things and Marlena will see through this and call him out on his bullshit.

Girl, no.

I loved that story!

The story basically amounted to being gay means you're self-loathing and a serial killer (and didn't they have Nora worry about AIDS, even though no straight characters had discussed diseases or safe sex in years), or a complete dupe who is happy to have an affair with a married politician.

I think what is actually happening is the show is going to great pains to not show Will in any sort of gay context. Has he even shaken a guy's hand since he came out? Now he is sleeping with women? It's soapy? How convenient that the brand of soap DOOL is selling is all hetero soap. That's the problem.

They went to events, they held seminars, this was a triumph to help gay kids see a role model on TV, they felt honored to have a role in it blah blah blah....and sure enough they chicken out.

    • Kristian probably had a high 'Q' score-that seemed to mean a lot in those days. FC always brought unknowns in for the young cast, so her Days probably had little to do with it-just something that they thought might help. The producers probably had no idea who she was, but that 'Q' score would have been a factor. Otherwise she was just a pretty, competent actress as Ana Alicia, Mary Kate McGeehan, Kate Vernon etc had been.
    • Finally caught up. I was really torn by Friday's episode. Naomi and Jacob were way too invested on who performed this surgery on June being she's someone they barely know. Also, this is a hospital in the DMV, a densely populated area with well-staffed hospitals. There's only one qualified doctor in all of the DMV? Oh no, not that doctor! Only Dr. McBride will do? It was strange.  Can we stop making the Casino a meeting point. First, Eva and Mona crossing paths and now Dani/Pamela/Doug/Joey. These folks don't seem like they just hit up the casino on a random Tuesday. Especially, one that is supposed to be some shady, seedy backroom. They need to end this casino stuff and repurpose that set. Ted and Dana read sooooo differently this episode. Why was Ted out here inviting this woman that just blew up his life, clearly is unhinged, and took 50k to a birthday dinner???? Did I miss something? His reaction towards Dana also did not seem angry or in disgust like the previous Ted. It didn't feel right. Whatever Bill was doing with his eyes when at OG's with Smitty.  The Good: Anita getting some story is great. Love to have her doing more.  Leslie is wild. She really just had Eva to hold onto Ted-ddy. Calling her daughter a whole souvenir and not giving 2 about her birthday. Although, I'm wondering if Eva's real birthday is actually earlier and that's why Dana/Lesile is so nonchalant about this date. She gave Eva a cupcake some time back and I'm wondering if that's to tie to this idea that Kat and Eva are twins.  Smitty is growing on me. He's got something to do.  I didn't love some bigger things in this episode, but there were some small things that really were so nice to see. Loved seeing Dani calling Doug over to join them. It really gave off this feeling that they know each other well and it was a bit playful like you would do with a friend. Similarly, I liked how Kat and Naomi and Jacob played off each other. "I was actually asking my hubsand." It gave off authentic family banter vibes.
    • Jane Wyman had health struggles and was written out after the first few episodes. IIRC, she went against medical advice to film the final episodes of the show. I guess they likely did think Alicia was just there as some kind of eye candy for viewers and could be replaced. As mentioned by several people in the CBS primetime soap threads, Moonves and others brought a real culture of misogyny to the shows in the mid/late '80s where every woman was seen as replaceable. I didn't realize how many times Wyman's health had been a factor in the last 4-5 seasons of the show. Here is one example. www.falconcrest.org | Deutscher FALCON CREST - Fanclub / German FALCON CREST Fan Club
    • Was Angela still on the show at that point? I think I caught some of the show on Lifetime or TNT  when they reran the series, and Angela never seemed to be on during the last season. I remember thinking it felt the like the last season was a completely different show and that Wendy Philips was too grounded of an actress (not a criticism) for a nighttime soap.    I don't understand the concept because I don't think most people channel hop. I can understand wanting Alfonso's popularity to rub off, but why engender bad feelings by firing Ana Alicia and bringing on Alfonso? Soap execs never learned that lesson. Like Ellen Parker a few years later, I don't think they realized Ana Alicia's popularity.
    • I think they tended to run the cast list once a week, but I don't know if it had a consistent day.
    • Does Search for Tomorrow ever list the cast in its end credits? I watched about fifteen videos from 1985 to look at the cast credits at the end and I never saw any except for Mary Stuart's credit. I try not to google cast members if there's a chance I might watch a soap so I don't spoil exits.
    • Jeez louise, they overdid it with the music in late 1985. Wendy's self-loathing episode on Dec. 6 is "underscored" (if we can call it that) to the end theme from Scarface, of all movies.
    • It's always hot when he's onscreen
    • True. So it must be the heat.   LOL. Oh, you.
    • That's a lousy ad. They didn't even choose good headshots. That's the least attractive I've seen Gregory Harrison look in his entire career. He looked hotter on GH last year! And CBS would keep bringing over ABC or NBC actors (more often ABC) for their soaps, further gutting their identities. Sad all around. Of course, they are the only network to have more than one soap on the air, so who am I to judge?
