That's the issue with these writers, they lack how to write suspense, drama, suffering, love, and heartbreak in the afternoon.

Marlene and Darrell do need to master the art of things like a daily cliffhanger that would make you tune in. The Sami/Madison revelation was like "what the hell?" because unless you saw the promo you didn't see this coming.

As for any cast changes, dc has it right. I don't think this show can withstand another cast exodus. I do think fans are to the point that they would walk if another person was fired. Now if the actor/actress WANTS to leave, different story.

I agree. I certainly was shocked by the twist but then my episode-writing-pickyness kicked in and was annoyed that the revealed happened half way in the episode. It would've been better if the reveal happened at the end of the episode.

I thought that too!!! I thought there was going to be some good scenes between Hope/Stefano and it turned out to be nothing (the dayplayer making a phone call). WTF.

Everything on this show falls flat. They have some good ideas and lots of potential but every reveal, twist, tease just comes across lame and they have a big problem with their execution

While I agree with you that would have been the best way to reveal such a twist... the fact that the show can put one to sleep, they probably placed that reveal mid-show to make sure viewers could stick with the show till end of episode!

The show needs a storyline advisor in a big way that is if they are adverse to hiring new writers. Ed Scott might be good. But at some point the cast size has to come in to play. They can't continue to hire on. My guess is Suzanne Rogers and Joe Masculo go off contract soon.

While the characters are mixing it up, its nowhere near as much in like 2009ish. Really, the span of the entire baby swap. Too bad Sami/Stephanie was never kept going, that was a great dynamic.

I would bet a lot of these actors are on contract with really reduced guarantees. Joe Mascolo is clearly only working 1-2 days a week, for example. For him, Rogers, Aniston, and the like, I bet it's not so much about the amount of airtime and income as it is keeping their guild insurance and having some amount of money coming in.

Well they have 3 more actors coming on contract, none of which I expect are cheap and strong rumors of one more. Somewhere the cast and budget has to give. Particularly when the ratings have shown zero improvement and I doubt Corday will fire the writers.. Look how long Higley lasted.

I bet Corday now will have a bigger push to can these writers than keep them as long as Higley. Four soaps are gone and GH is probably the next to go. Its called fighting to stay alive and if Corday wants Days to stick past 2013, the writers need to change.

What really needs to happen is to have someone come on board to help the writers' ideas work onscreen. I find the ideas for the stories excellent, but the execution is what everyone finds lacking, and I agree. Someone like Chris Whitesell would be excellent to have come in and spend a few months shoring up the day-to-day buildup, because it's there that these guys are failing.

Having said that, the writing staff is already horribly bloated (taking up two pages of credits daily). So I'd say maybe promote the Cullitons to help take guide the ship a little more, and possibly drop some of the dead weight while they're at it. It really can't hurt at this rate.

WTF is Brady cool with Quinn and hanging out with him like that? It seems even more odd bc they are discussing Chloe. Brady even associating with him seems off bc of that. Quinn's been seeing Marlena? When the heck did that happen? Couldnt hurt to at least show it once. Loving all the Chloe mentions today. Maybe she will be coming home soon....

Why does Jennifer look like she's older than Maggie? Id swear that she was the Horton matriarch...

I agree the show needs to improve the storylines. For all the hoopla made about making the canvas more like a community, I still feel there is a disconnect. Also, I'm beginning to see storylines developing where characters are being thrown together because they are on the canvas at the same time, not because of the rich story potential or longterm effect it could have on the canvas. Desperation is setting in and, for the first time, the scent of show's impending death seems to be setting in. I still think it could be turned around, but they would have to basically admit that what the show was doing under Tomlin / Higley / Whitesell was correct, but that the day-to-day execution needed work. Thomas and McPhearson haven't improved upon the execution of the material and have a more disjointed canvas with less obvious story potential.

Who is the current script editor? I think a strong script editor could improve the day-to-day writing.

The problem is who is going to be beating down the door to be headwriter? I think MarDar is 'Days' Kriezman.
