AMC: Who Would You Cast As Kendall & Greenlee???

Kendell wouldn't really work as a 40+ year old character though. Can you seriously imagine Kendell at 24 doing what she did from 93-95 and the audience believing it? For that matter neither would Josh a 35+ year old character gaslighting Erica Kane because he wanted fame and fortune? It was hard enough to think of him as a mid 20's guy doing that. Those characters kind of needed to be younger in order for their characterizations to work. I actually thought that Colin and Alicia were pitch perfect in terms of acting their characters ages (late 20's/early 30's).

Again, when it came to bringing back Jeff w/ John James, AMC just had to feed this image of Erica as "forever thirty" instead of being true to their own timeline. John James was more appropriate, age-wise, playing Greg than he ever was as Jeff. If anyone was appropriate for playing Jeff, it was Peter Simon (ex-Ed, GUIDING LIGHT).

It doesn't matter whether they would have "worked" or not. Actually, Kendall and Josh never worked on any level because Erica's history had to be retconned (and in one instance, medical science and storytelling innovation had to be trampled on) in order to make their existences even possible. But if they had to "be," then at least treat the audience with some intelligence and respect and place them appropriately within the show's actual historical timelines.

Yeah I just don't think Kendell being aged appropriately would have worked. A 27 year old woman coming to Pine Valley and wrecking havoc on her birth mother because she put her up for adoption nearly three decades ago wouldn't go over as well as a young girl in her teens doing the same because she was hurt would. Same for Josh even though he was a bit older. A young guy in his early to mid twenties seeking fame and stardom would crossover a lot better then a mid 30's guy doing the same. Some artistic licenses need to be taken for the sake of character development. I don't see it that differently then SORASation which is what they do for teens.

But why did that have to be Kendall's story?

And why did that have to be Josh's story?

Which is another way of saying, "Hey, it's just a soap opera!".

In the "old days," more care was taken with these things. Writers didn't [!@#$%^&*] with history, time logic or viewers' intelligence for the sake of a lousy story (and then tell us to get over it when we pointed out the continuity lapses).

Point taken. Although SJB was 21 when she was cast as Carly and the character herself was 23 when she came to Port Charles. I would still say that's slightly more believable then a woman in their mid to late 30's seeking revenge for adoption. Just me though.
