Gerald Hopkins does favor Stuart Damon a lot, but Kanan and Burton looked so much like brothers it was crazy.   I don't think either of them look like they were Alan's sons though.  Billy Warlock is a fine actor, but I have no idea what anyone was thinking casting him as Jason's brother.

Agree.  I actually liked Gerald Hopkins as A.J.  But I do remember hating that storyline where A.J. was determined to marry that gold-digging hussy, Nikki Langton.

Was he?  BW was a fairly big name to be a temp, but SK's departure was always mysterious to me.  I know he said he left due to alcohol issues, but I always assumed he was fired and would never be back.  AJ had a big story back then so was the show assuming SK would be back after rehab or was the showing casting a wider net for a recast?

As much as I like Billy Warlock, I have to admit, he was all wrong for A.J.  GH should have brought him on instead as a recast for Blackie Parrish.

I was just guessing, given how quick the recast was.

Shelley Curtis should be EP of GH. it would never happen, but she's the only person alive and active that I think would "get" this show.

I remember Hopkins in the role. I preferred him over Kanan. Anyone know why he left or was he fired? I noticed he is 55 now.

I remember reading the soap mags about SK's departure at the time, but I can't recall details.  It's entirely possible he was temp.  There was only a 3 day gap between SK and BW appearances.

 

I assume he just wasn't popular.  He had a bunch of bad stories.  Plus, maybe they wanted an AJ that looked more like Burton's Jason.

Agree so much.  She was there for the Monty era and also for the more human emotion driven Labine era.  Perfect fit.

And I always felt BW was miscast as AJ.

The Stuff with Niki Langton had potential. But Gloria Monty 2.0 was such a wonky era.
