Members Eric83
I don't understand how On Demand= Paying for the shows. I thought On Demand was when cable providers put the shows On Demand where you can watch the shows whenever you want.
Members SFK
There are usually some freebies on On-Demand, usually '80s movies or straight-to-dvd fare, and some teasers of more current and in-demand stuff. Was Passions free to cable subscribers?
Members Ryan Chamberlain
I hardly have enough money to eat/pay bills. I don't think I'll be paying to watch my soaps. This is a joke. Mainly in this day and age with the economy being so bad. Keeping the shows free on network TV would have made more sense.
Members alexisfan07
No, you had to get DirecTV or pay to watch online, which I did
Members Eric83
Makes sense for who? Not ABC. I don't know why some think these shows should just be handed to them. This is the internet, they have to make profit somehow. I will pay for OLTL if the price isn't too ridiculous.
Members OLTL_fan
If they are making 260 episodes a year they wont be seasonal.
Members Ryan Chamberlain
Viewers. You know. The people who actually watched these shows for years. Us normal folks are in a recession. No jobs=no money/limited money=choosing to eat to survive or actually being entertained by something other than weekday afternoon reruns of Jersey Whore. Members Chris B
Yeah, but life isn't fair. Just like you're in a recession, the people keeping these soaps alive are in a recession and have to make money. There is nothing wrong with them charging, if it comes to that. People pay for movies and to watch shows on cable it is no different.
Members marceline
If this turns out to be something interesting, I'll just watch the inevitable free illegal streams.
Members SFK
I see. So how much was it online? Does anybody else have a Roku? We moved and haven't hooked it up in a few months, but we get Netflix instant, shows/movies we purchased through Amazon.com, as well as some other random channels on there. It would be nice and convenient if we could get AMC/OLTL via Roku so we could watch on the 60 in. TV and not even have to futz with a computer. Members Vee
You guys already knew this was going to be pay-to-watch. Either pay or watch the free stream but stop bitching. I'm very excited they'll be working throughout the city and pushing the envelope on content.
Members Soapsuds
I never paid to watch stuff at WOST. I was a member there until it went to pay to watch. I dont watch or pay for Venice either. I am not going to pay to watch something that is on my computer. Had the shows stayed on the air and were pay for view ...I might consider it on tv set. When will people every learn. They are still trying to attract younger hip audience instead of catering to their real fans...the long dedicated viewers that still watch now on ABC. That's why all the soaps are in the gutter. They dont care to produce a good product. Instead they want to produce edge stuff that will bring in the teen scene....I guess they have money to pay for the soaps online....

Members SFK
Whatever the case, I hope the set up is as simple and user-friendly as possible. JMO, but that's why I was hoping for less episodes because finding the discipline to watch and not get super behind may be an issue for me (and others). For instance, thinking back on the P&G AOL channel, it could be a little daunting staring at the 27 newly uploaded episodes of Texas you had to watch if you let yourself get behind. Plus, the episodes may only be available for a set number of days. It would also be nice if the system was super personalized and you could check off the episodes you've watched.
