Okay, I just have to say that the news that "AMC didn't move on because of actor negotiations" is just totally wrong. First of all, when I was there at the very end, TONS of actors were asking each other, "have you been contacted? Has ANYBODY been contacted?" The answer was always, "No. What's going on? Why haven't they contacted any of us?"

Now comes the real question, why? Why weren't they asked? Is it true that PP was negotiating only with Lucci and waiting until that deal was done to contact anyone else? I do not know. She did not share that info with anyone as far as I know. I did hear through the grapevine (after the show ended) that PP did indeed contact her. Make of that what you will.

Is it true that PP showed preference for OLTL from the very beginning? Yes, I do know that because OLTL had higher ratings, PP felt they had a better bet with them. Other than that, I cannot guess at anything else, other than that PP only has so much money to go around, and this internet gamble is a huge one. My feeling is, when OLTL goes to the internet, it will have a only a FEW months to prove itself as a viable show. If it doesn't pull the ratings PP needs it to... it will not withstand the chopping block. If it DOES do well in the ratings, then there is a CHANCE that AMC will be pulled back into the mix.

This is ALL conjecture on my part, ok? I guess I just don't want the fans to blame the actors, when so many actors I spoke to WANTED to do the job. I just really want you guys to know that there are so many more issues at play here.

Looking forward, I would say if you love OLTL and AMC, just keep supporting the soaps. ALL the soaps. That means WATCH as much as you can, write in and tell both PP and ABC and CBS and NBC that you watch and that you love soap operas. Competition simply cannot be the same as it was right now. We can't have a "team AMC" and a "team OLTL" and expect either one of them to survive. We really have to pull together and support ALL the soaps, if the fans really want them to continue.

I know the genre will change, but I think that it still has much to offer and has done much good in the world! I think there is much more good it can do. WHEN OLTL goes on air, I hope you will support the show and watch as much as you can. It's a worthy, well done show, and honestly it's really is the only thing that might make AMC returning possible.

Just my opinion!!

Thanks!!!!

It's pretty obvious PP ditched AMC once Lucci failed to join. I still see her doing it at some point. She probably wants time to do other things. I can't blame her or the AMC cast. They felt really burnt out and abused. Several writer turnovers in a quick time, and a poor leader (JHC), while OLTL has been doing good in the ratings, has had a steady EP and HW for years now. I think AMC could have turned around. It's just a huge mess, with some stars wanting out, some not sure and others that have already moved on. I think AMC could have succeeded without Susan Lucci, as big of a name as she was for the show. I just don't think PP felt like making the effort with OLTL so easy to transition.

Cady posted more:

Just a note: as far as I know, PP did not contact ANY actors until AFTER the show wrapped. Why? I do not know. Who they asked and in what order was a surprise to some, but not to all. I think this is such a new venture for them that we have to be somewhat forgiving about how they do things and their lack of understanding of what many of us know to be "what makes a soap work." At least they tried... and are still trying. It's got to be a HUGE learning curve and of course they are going to want to put their own stamp on it.

Vincent Irizarry's response to the Jamey drop:

Facebook Poster: hi, its been reported today that that the show was put on hold for 3 mos. because loren broderick and vincent cant decide if they want to sign, come on guys i hope this is not true, its been way to long for the return of pine valley, lets get the show back

Vincent: Please inform as to where you read that being reported. The part re: me and Lorraine is absolute rubbish. We are certainly not the reason PP has put the show on hold.

about it I think Jan is a fine supporting part for a solid daytime vet (probably someone from the P&G soaps), as opposed to someone from the production location who is clearly cheaper. Which seems to govern some casting. I get the rationale, but I would start going through the ATWT/GL, etc. rolodex myself.
    • I dont mind Jan. She's good in the minor capacity she is used.
    • tbqh I don't care about Jan, I don't care about Ashley and I think Jon Lindstrom as Joey is an acquired taste. Jon is a great actor but certain things are in his zone and then some are not. Some days I find Joey credible and compelling, but the stuff with him hanging around the Golden Corral, grumbling about Doug and bitching at Randy is not amazing. If he had material on par with what MVJ wrote for Ryan/Kevin on GH back in the day it'd be a different story. I do think he has real chemistry with Vanessa, which is in large part due to MVJ clearly molding that character (and hiring an appropriate actor) in the Lucy Coe vein when she reinvented Lucy in the '90s as well. But I am not here to spend 6+ months watching Jon glower a lot (which is what he's doing half the time to carry weak story) and make more vague dire pronouncements while Jen Jacob gets flustered and weepy over "Daddy" or whatever would come of that storyline. Putting them together sounds like a recipe for doom to me. But I may be in the minority on that.
    • I know this will never happen. But... Halle Berry as Dani Dupree(BTG). She would rock this role, it's in her wheelhouse.
    • When I see how bad the Ashley/Derek scenes are, I know there must be a larger purpose and Joey being her father is the thing that makes the most sense.  My take on it is that Ashley knows Joey is her father but doesn't know Joey. Maybe he was there when she was a child or just not around at all but I believe Jan when she says she didn't lie to her daughter about who her father was. Maybe she left him when she discovered his dangerous lifestyle.  I do think they could really jump start the character of Ashley if they hurry and do this. Jan is a great character and her scenes with Ashley have been helpful. This would further integrate Ashley into the canvas and give her something dramatic to do. With her working at the hospital along with Doug, it could lead to complications if she learns Doug is involved with her father. I just need is sooner rather than later because Derek is tanking her character. I need a distraction.

    • The stories are awful. I'm not enjoying any of them. All I'm left with is Sally in a plastic dress.
