Um, so we have that ever lengthy thread on classic Y&R articles and discussion, I was wondering if we could do one for B&B? I mean the whole show is a hot mess and has been well at least since 2007/2008 and unwatchable but I'd like to think back to when I loved the show 1991ish-2006. A lot of stories liked and/or remember well have now been long forgotten like Ivana's murder and the mystery around it, Macy vs. Karen, Connor(someone mentioned him recently!) Dylan and Michael, CJ/Becky, Sly, Grant. Hell Macy was my favorite character right after Sally of course.

The wonderful Sarah Buxton returns as Morgan DeWitt tomorrow in the S18 YouTube episodes. Shame she didn’t get a longer stint.

I’m thinking Taylor’s resurrection a few months later caused the show to change course and cut her return short. If true, I wonder what the original plan for this storyline would have been? Amnesiac Ridge getting Morgan pregnant again?

Always loved Sarah Buxton 😍 I actually received a signed photo from her back on 2001. Sad enough the photo is still no among us 😅😭 But I think it would have been juicy to give some material for Morgan and Taylor, they did play a huge part with each other back in 2000-2001 but I also understand why the show wanted to pursue Tridge and Brooke/Ridge/Taylor triangle instead.

This has a lot of talk about early B&B, including Lynda Hirsch correctly inferring that Gail Kobe and Bill Bell may not work together long. She also roasts Bill Bell the way Chris Schemering did for the various mentions of "My God, man!" I am trying to remember if we actually got any of those (didn't Ridge used to say it?).

There's also a lot of mention of Stephen Shortridge, who never seemed to have anywhere near as much value on the show itself.

Sometimes I am surprised they never brought Dave Reed back for another doomed Brooke romance.

I don't have to tell you, that he was their “big get” when it came to casting.  He replaced John Travolta on Welcome Back Kotter and starred in the backdoor pilot for a guy spinoff of Charlie's Angels with Barbara Stanwyck.  He was certainly more famous than the lead singer of one-hit-wonder Player.

In the beginning, I always confused Dave and Thorn, as well as Ridge and Rocco, due to their similar hairstyles.

Side note: You know The Colby's was bad if Barbara Stanwyck thought the writing was worse than the guy Charlie's Angels script -- Toni's Boys .

I had forgotten he was on Kotter until the interview (I did watch that show to the end in reruns but the only replacement I remembered was Della Reese).

I should watch that spinoff pilot sometime.

Maybe he decided acting wasn't for him anyway as his last credit is two years later.

The interview also makes me appreciate more how clever it was for Bill Bell to use names like Storm or Thorne. That was a quick talking point for Hirsch with the show. And while I always made fun of it, looking back that's also something that made people I knew who rarely watched soaps always remember B&B

I'm left wondering how much access Lynda Hirsch had from her office in the Midwest?  I assume people called her to leak information all the time.  And she had press releases, interviews, and screener tapes.  But her insight into the character of John Conboy made me question if she was an insider or just a yenta?

IIRC Storm was a nickname given to Stephen Logan Jr. as he had a stormy temper. Much like William Foster Jr. was given the nickname Snapper for snapping at everyone.

I remember an interview with either Bill Bell or Bradley where it was mentioned Bill Bell got the name Ridge from a college classmate of Bradley's. Bradley even said that his classmate tells everyone "I'm the real Ridge". I don't where Bill Bell got Thorne from.

Yes but, after Lucas, Lance, Leslie, Lorie, Bill Bell definitely had a “house code” when it came to character naming conventions.

And yet somehow - not sure why - we know for certain he would have never named a character 'Mariah'.

I had one of my friends that watches modern day B & B watch the early episodes of Bold & Beautiful (Season 1 on Tubi in the states)... and they were so surprised at how different Brooke was in the early episodes, and that Brooke/Ridge didn't end up crossing paths and having a conversation until around 60 episodes into the show's run.

Episode 71: they formally introduce themselves by the pool (he didn’t know who she was in Ep.60)

Episode 136: first kiss
