I was just going to post that I feel bad for B&B, because I think over the past one or two years that they have tried to do concrete things to turn things around. Unlike other soaps they didn't just rely on stunts or bring back older fan favorite characters, they were one of the first shows to fire several key people behind the scenes as well as some actors who couldn't pull their weight. I don't watch the show, but it seems like they were more serious about making changes than some other shows.

While B&B is the most watched soap in the world, that doesn't mean anything to CBS, since they are sharing in the profit from that situation, and I think that Bradley Bell knows that in order to continue being the most popular soap, that the show needs to be filmed in the US, and that the production standards need to be kept at a level that he won't be able to achieve if CBS drops the show.

A 1.8 is awesome. Who cares that it's just a tenth of a point lower than what ATWT was averaging for the year when it was canceled, or just two tenths higher than what GL was getting the year of its demise. Obviously, the fact that OLTL is beating AMC and GH means that the wrong show was canceled, and that it was canceled because ABC doesn't like it.

Thank you Bella and Jane! That was quick~

And thank you for putting words into our mouths. Such a joke.

No one is celebrating. It is simply a bunch of dying dogs. We are grateful that our dog is feeling a little better. But we know he isn't gonna make it. We just enjoy the minor victories.

No one said anything about the wrong soap being cancelled. YOU said that.

*Sigh* Same numbers, same fight. I'm sorry I posted them.

Anyway totally different subject. B&B is watched globally and apparently performs respectably. Even if CBS were to cancel them wouldn't it make sense for Sony to find another outlet for that show? One that could build the global audience?

I disagree. They may have done a few superficial changes, but when it comes down to business this show is stuck in the 90s. If Brad Bell wanted to really change this show the first thing he would have to do is stop returning to the Brooke/Ridge/Taylor triangle and have Ridge hop between those two women every six months. It's a triangle that has overstayed its welcome by at least 10 years. He did make one change last year when he had Brooke and Stephanie bury the hatchet, but guess what....it lasted around six months and now we're back to business as usual in that department again. He had an interesting story starting to unfold between Jackie/Owen/Bridget, but that just ended almost from one episode to another. He made a complete and utter mess of both Sarah Brown's and Rick Hearst's arrivals, and they're already gone. And as for Amber she has almost the exact same story she had almost 15 years ago.

The problem is, how hard will it be for the Bells to find a home in the US, so that they can continue to produce the show. No other network, even the cable ones, are going to enter into a deal with them without getting a piece of What the Bell's make from their international license. Aside from that, that the show is produced in the US is a major reason why it is so popular in some countries. The show being canceled or not airing here reduces its value.

Like I said, I don't watch the show, so I can't speak to the quality of the storylines, even though I do remember seeing countless promos for Brooke and Ridge's wedding a few years back, and even though they made it seem like this was the last time, it seemed like the next month they were airing promos about Ridge being back with Taylor. I agree with what you are saying, but it just seems like when the ratings started to fall that Brad Bell was quick to start making changes. Most of the other soaps tend to wait forever before they fire the people who are producing the show, or firing actors who aren't doing their job. But, as with ABC and Frons, it would seem that the main problem is whoever is afraid to move away from the played out Brooke, Ridge and Taylor triangle.

LOL, nobody said it this week, but it would be a lie to say that this has never been stated.

    • Now coming into June...well...   I knew it was coming but I didn't like the start to the next round of Dani/Bill/Hayley. As the 3 A plots from the start of the show (The SilkPress storyline and Martin's Secret being the other two), it needed to be benched for a while to develop those characters and allow other characters and storylines to grow. 3 months in, Hayley is the weak link, Dani is still divisive, but not boring, and Bill has been making his mark with some plots faster than others. So last week seeing the story starting to loop back around to them with Hayley's potential pregnancy, I honestly had mixed feelings.   I get it. The SilkPress storyline is currently in aftermath/next turn mode, so it has to be moved into a C plot position. Moreso if we want to keep the very talented Miss Trish around. And I love how clever the writers are being with the storyline. They give us enough in the episodes and are still playing out beats to keep the appetite fed. I don't feel like anyone is being dumbed down to keep her around. And Trish is giving nuances in her alone scenes with NuTed. I shouldn't care for a clear psycho, but she be selling it. That said...I wish they had given us a little more of the Martin's Secret storyline in the last week of the month though I loved the game of cat and mouse Bill did on Martin and Smitty to keep the storyline alive and active after it had a nice build beginning of May and vanished for a week mid-May. And it appears like it's about to go back to the backburner as an A plot which of course leaves the A plot of Dani/Bill/Hayley.   I am probably in the minority as someone who is not anti-Dani here and even she annoyed the heck out of me last week. In character true, but I just felt like there was a way to get all of that across without it feeling like...as I've said before...one step forward, two steps back...and have it feel organic. I liked Hayley got a little bit of edge with her, but she still ain't no match for Dani. And it reminds to be seen if we should be going back to that well of a story yet.   Now about today's show...   And I thought Tracy was bad! lol. But YES. Sharon has been worth the wait. And so has Anita's story! Finally having TT in the limelight. This has been a nice slow burn for me and a nice B plot. And the actress is good. The wig is giving. And her holding what Anita's secret is over her head and threatening to tell Vernon....Ooooo...that is what I was waiting for.    And speaking of bad...I thought Eva vs Kat was a great rivalry. But I am loving the rivalry that is growing with 'Nancy Drew' and Silk Press Sheila! They both get good licks in and are so cunning with each other. And I definitely have liked that since the anniversary party, that it has been growing. Now that Kat has been proven right, she has not backed down. And neither has SilkPress. And we got a 'Ms. B@tch' moment, too? LOVE. Eva coming up with a trump card was delicious and so 90s Sami Brady. GOOD. And the coda with Jacob and the expert...YES. The Silk Press storyline has been the best paced on the show so I love that the aftermath of the anniversary party continues to be so...barring one flaw...well for me. Not enough Nicole's POV.   And I like the C plots on display. And by that, I mean Chelsea with Vernon. And it made me wonder what the writers have plan for her love life now that the throuple is over with. I was watching her and going awww.   And of course the mystery man around Martin. I am starting to wonder if he really even works at the country club given how he made a run for it. That would be a twist.    Speaking of Martin...good to see him in scenes with his father and mother.    I'm getting used to NuTed.    I felt the last episode of May was a bit of a letdown, but this was a very nice recovery.
    • Unless they cut him, I'd think he would stay. Surely, he didn't choose to return because he expected high quality. I figure he gets to work when he wants and spend a lot of time doing his own thing and being with his family.
    • The writing for Liz and Lucky is indeed terrible, but if JJ signed a one-year contract he may be gone in a couple of months anyway. Perhaps they’re just cutting their losses.
    • That would be his older sister Stacey. She was the center of a big story back in the day. Nola was out to snag medical student Kelly Nelson, who she thought would provide her with the life she craved. He was in love with a girl named Morgan. Nola plotted to get pregnant by him, but couldn't manage to get him in bed. So she seduced Floyd, who thought she was in love with him. When she knew she was pregnant, she got Kelly drunk and made sure he woke up next to her in bed. Kelly believed her when she told him he made her pregnant. They were about to elope to Las Vegas, but her mother ratted her out and Kelly abandoned her. She almost married Floyd, but jilted him at the altar. She went to work for Quint. When the baby came prematurely, Kelly saved both of them. She named the baby Kelly Louise to irk Morgan, who was now married to Kelly. When she fell in love with Quint, she had a change of heart over all the trouble she had caused, so she changed the baby's name to Anastasia Louise, shortened to Stacey. Quint was a devoted stepfather and Henry treated her like his own granddaughter.  After Quint and Nola leave SF, I believe Stacey is never seen again. Which is odd, you would think they would have brought her back with Nola and J, but they never did.

    • The counts seem small even for B&B. Thanks for posting!
    • Sooo Nick is inviting Sharon to France for this Dumas party thing. The same place they reconnected years ago during the Shick/Phick years. I wonder if it’s going to be on location? I’m going to assume not. I’m sure Y&R doesn’t have that kind of budget anymore.
