Stories that aren't as bad as they're made out to be

On ATWT, I usually disliked the "unrealistic" storylines, but for some reason the spa s/l didn't bother me at all. TPTB had to find a way to get all their pregnant leading ladies off-screen , and it was a neat way to do it. And I loved that it was James and Barbara plotting to get rid of all Barbara's enemies.

I remember when Lily used WorldWide to invest in some baby-food company, and the product turned out to be toxic, almost killing hundreds of babies and ruining Lucinda's company. It wasn't a popular story, but I thought it was great, especially watching Lucinda fume at what her daughter did to WorldWide. Both Martha Byrne and Liz Hubbard acted the hell out of that material. Even Jeffrey Meek, the short-term Craig who used the disaster to steal the company from under Lucinda, was good.

That story was so poorly done. That's why I didnt like it. It made Lily look like a damn fool. The story was too rushed for my tastes and it really didnt have a fallout. I mean really investing in baby food company...so absurd to me.

Shane/Kayla took a dramatic turn in mid-91 when Richard Allen and Anne Schoettle were fired and replaced with Gene Polumbo. Originally, Kayla was supposed to lose out to her sibling. It was supposed to be a "remake," of sorts, of Steve/Kayla/Jack, this time having Kayla on the losing end. But then the story changed and Shane famously proclaimed "All these years I've been with the wrong Brady sister!"

Wow, that sounds pretty awful. LOL You liked that story, Stevie? I find that surprising.

I'd pick the Adam turns bad story. I still think if TIIC had simply given him a definable reason for his sudden personality shift, the Adam/Gwen/Will triangle could have been a classically soapy triangle.

Too bad Matthew Morrison left. He made a really good Adam.

I loved Josh Madden and the idea of Erica having a son

Totally agreed on this (I LOVED Josh, thought he was perfectly cast, & loved the "Kane man" dynamic he brought to the family), but I don't like the way AMC went about it. The S/L was completely ridiculous. I would've welcomed a secret son of Erica's that we never knew about, but not the one who was ABORTED! That totally tarnished one of the most noteworthy moments in AMC's history.

That said, i did get used to Josh & grew to love him as a character! I miss Colin Egglesfield on AMC!

I floved him and James M. Goodwin. I hated it when he left the show.

Really? I hated that character. I was so glad when they wrote him.

GH: Casey The Alien

i agree with you, reallyhateskateonlost, i liked Casey the Alien.

I didn't realize people made it out to be bad. It was pretty good I thought, and I remember a few years back in an interview Kimberly McCullough cited it as her favorite story she ever starred in.

I rolled my eyes throughout the story (like Robin's father Robert did), but somehow they made it work. Kim and the actor playing Casey really made it shine and were the reasons it worked.

Y&R: Diane steals Victor's sperm. Yes, it was more Victor worship...but the fallout between Ashley/Nikki/Diane, had the story been carried through completely and Alex Donnelly kept on the show, it had real potential.

What really did damage to Josh (besides the Unabortion) was Babe.

The rivalry made NO sense. Brady didn't know Isabella so Marlena was pretty much his mother who raised him and loved him. I think Langan also had John hate Maggie for some reason. Langan was awful - he wasn't even a real writer! LOL

I thought it was hilarious (in a terrible way) how John HATED Maggie and was constantly going into Tuscany just to tear into her. Remember when he and Brady trashed the whole restaurant? LOL.

What the hell is this???? It's like a blooper reel for a cast party passed off as a scene.

HAHAHA! John Black assaulting like five police officers and throwing a damn waiter across the restaurant!

That thing with Hattie was so random. I guess that was the last vestige of the Reilly era style - that screamed Reilly. That whole story was dropped wasn't it?

I didn't think John was the type of man who would go around beating up cops.

Brady was so bizarrely campy - did he have a whole wardrobe of outfits to surprise people with? I'd like to see his Carmen Miranda.

I also love how some of the characters got punched like 6 times and there's no blood

Didnt he diss ATWT after he left?

Really? I hated that character. I was so glad when they wrote him.

Yup..I floved Johnny Bauer.
