Taylor is not a shoe-in. I'm predicting an "upset".

I'm just laughing that everyone is so shocked and disgusted that Chris was voted out. It's not the end of the world so stop acting like it. Katharine and Elliot easily have better vocals than Chris. And Mike, I dunno why you call Katharine "fake and phony" you don't even know her as a person, so...

Instead of it being Taylor's to lose, IMO, it just became Elliot's to lose.

I really hope Elliott wins!! Or even Taylor!!

I am not a Katharine fan...she hits this horrible note in most of her performances which makes me cringe. Besides that bad note though she's not bad.

I have to say I was shocked Chris got voted off, and it looked like HE was shocked too. But, I can understand why....he hasn't sung his best in the last couple of weeks, so it was his to lose.

I really liked Taylor at the beginning of this, but not so much anymore, so I'm hoping he's the next to go.

I really like Katharine, but think Elliot is a better singer, so I hope Elliot takes wins.

ICAM! And speaking of Joe Cocker, a great entertainer, he too moved as if he was about to have a seizure on stage. I don't know if he had any physical ailments, but I loved it! Now Taylor makes me want to smile, laugh, dance and sing along with him all at once... Now that's the mark of a true entertainer IMO. :D

Actually, no.

Chris does have better vocals than Kat.

Kat actually is not talented vocally. Kellie, Mandisa, and Paris all were better singers than Kat. Besides hitting a quasi-good note at the end of every song that makes America wet their pants, she sucks. She knows she sucks the most of the four. She was expecting to leave, as she should have expected and as she should have. And the look on her face when Christ left was nothing but guilt.

Taylor IS a shoe-in to win. And I am hoping for an upset, as well, if he is up against Elliot.

And yes, I do believe she is fake and phony. That's my opinion, and I'm entitled.

I really thought that Kat was going home, it should hvae been Kat. Chris was great, and I was sad to see him go.

As for Taylor and Ellit, I really don't like either of them, so now I am rooting for Kat to win, but I think she is going next week.

I refuse to step on the McPhee Love Train. Katharine is OKAY, but hardly anything special. As much as I've criticized Chris in the past, the one who should have gotten eliminated last night was Katharine. I hope she goes next week.

I have my problems with Taylor as well. He's too damn theatrical. I can't fawn over him like those in his Soul Patrol do, but I do believe that Taylor at this point is untouchable. Katharine can't beat him. Elliott, who I am rooting for 100%, cannot beat him. Taylor Hicks will be the next American Idol. And this has nothing to do with talent (not implying he isn't talented). But Taylor's fan base is friggin' huge :o

Chris Daughtry Voted Off 'Idol' But Won't Go Home a Loser

May 11, 2006

Studdly rocker Chris Daughtry got the “Idol” boot on Wednesday night, after being deemed the odd-on favorite winner for this installment of the hit FOX reality competition.

While Chris won’t walk away a winner on “American Idol,” his dreams of rocking out forever will still come true.

On Thursday’s “Extra,” Daughtry will get an offer to front a famous band. The surprise will unfold on the “Extra” set, as the band members will appear to make the offer.

And “Extra” can promise, this is an offer that simply can’t be refused! See who wouldn’t let the rocker go home empty-handed!

I just found out as I was gone last night...but this is BULLSHIT!

Chris was the best contestant there. He was the most marketable, the most talented, and the best all around. I guess since I didn't vote I shouldn't be able to say anything, but there must have been too many Chris fans like me. Anyway this sucks and AI sucks now IMO.

I guess I'll root for Katherine even though she doesn't deserve it. Elliot might be good, but he's not marketable and if he wins you won't see him in the mainstream. Taylor...well I just don't like him or think he's that talented.

I agree it sucks but big congrats to Chris. He will be awesome. I am going to root for Kat and Elliot. I don't want Taylor anywhere near that finale unless he wows me but I doubt it. It's fine for him to dance but vocals need to be there too. If I get a good vocal performance, I will be the first to come on here and eat crow but I just don't see him impressing me.

    • I know they were popular, but once they tamed Van's shrew, I thought Billy just brought Van down. Since they had just Nola and Billy sitting around in 97, an interesting thing would be if they had developed a friendship that turned into something else while Van was "dead". Maybe Billy lives at the Boardinghouse (to work on repaing his relationship with Bill) and works at Company instead of the stupid diner. Nola and Bridget give him a job there and Nola and Billy (who had originally been a bit antagonistic) slowly build up a relationship and then Van returns. A returned new lease on life Van would return to her "high hat ways" and take on the Spaulding's for control of the company with Billy helping her behind the scenes.  I know that Jordan was on sporadically because of his issues and them not know if they could trust him not to fall of the wagon, but they could have done it slow..and give Van and Nola a new reason to get in each others hair (I love a good Van/Nola tussle.)

Perhaps it wasn't the most well-played match in history, but that's something no one will remember in a few years time.
    • The thing with Martin (for me) is that he should have been Anita and Vernon's kid. I honestly think he would have been fine being an older or younger brother to Dani and Nicole. It also would have made his relationship and kids feel more realistic. A handsome salt and pepper late 40s/early 50s congressman who settled down and adopted kids to fit an image for politics. Not that he didn't want this lifestyle but it is what he needed to do to get ahead. Also, we don't often get older characters playing LGBT roles not just on daytime but across most media. It would have been a refreshing take. As an alternative, Sam and Ty could have been Martin's kids from an earlier marriage a la the NJ governor that was outed. We could have also seen parallels between Vernon and Anita thinking back to how they handled Martin coming out compared to the way they accepted Chelsea.  As for Martin being Nicole and Ted's kid, I do wish in this case he was not tied to a marriage and kids, so that he could date and sleep around like any other character on a soap.  Yeah, I didn't get it...but what I did get is that girl is a bit crazy like her mama.  Vanessa and Joey talking about the poker table...get these people off my screen.

    • Unpopular opinion, but I didn't think the show should have reunited Billy/Vanessa at all until the final stretch of the show. When watching the 1989 episodes when both Vanessa and Billy return after being off the show... I liked that Vanessa had moved on from him and that the show was hinting at her wanting to reunite with her first love Ross while looking down at Nadine for being the one Ross was dating.  And I loved the twist where Billy and Nadine teamed up to keep Vanessa/Ross apart.   This was an interesting concept that sadly the writers dropped with the show deciding to make Vanessa pine over Billy between 1990 and 1993 when they finally reunited.   To me, Vanessa pining over Billy seemed out of character. At least once Billy was carted off to prison in 1994... she and Billy divorced and stayed divorced until the final months when they finally found their way back together.  During the years when they were divorced, I liked that they had maintained a friendship and connection.. with viewers (like my late mom) wondering if they would ever decide to make it work again. I wish the show had tried that with Josh/Reva because by the time of the final episode when they rode off into the sunset, I didn't care because we'd been through the make up and break ups between them for over 10+ years by that point.
    • I break down the primetime soap era (start of Dallas to end of Knots Landing) as  Up to Spring 1982: Building the foundation. Fall 1982-Spring 1985: Peak. Fall 1985-Spring 1988: Tanking. Fall 1988 onward: Off the rails plus budget mode. Of course individual shows vary and I've broken down each show in their threads.
    • I’m ready for Portia and Curtis to divorce and get it over with. Portia cheating with Isaiah would make for a fun love quadrangle with Jordan.
