I like this...

In an interview with Variety, NBC's Robert Greenblatt revealed that he intends to increase the drama and shake up the music featured in the show by recruiting "up-and-comers" to compose new original music. Greenblatt confirmed that Smash composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman are in the process of recruiting compsers and lyricists. They will be searching for composers with experience who have not yet had a show on Broadway. "I love the idea that out of this show we'll be able to give some new composers a huge break," Greenblatt said. "We thought it was a great way to open up the sound of our show too."

Next season will also see the addition of a new musical in town that will be competition for the fictional 'Bombshell' musical of the first season. The exec revealed that some of Bombshell's stars will "defect" to the new production.

So is Jennifer Hudson going to be on the show for the whole season? I have never been able to get through one episode of this show, but I might again try for her.

As someone who sat through an entire season of American Idol doing anything to make a star out of Katherine McPhee, I'm a little too amused at some of the major critic reviews that essentially tear her talent to shreds.

These developments were neatly ironic: James is a strong-voiced Broadway star in real life but was grossly misused in Smash‘s first season; McPhee and Hudson, by contrast, represent the weakest and strongest skills of American Idol graduates respectively

Ouch.

I saw the terrible premiere ratings and there is a lot of chatter about its ratings' collapse all over the media sites. Talk about a disaster for NBC.

I actually liked the second Season Premiere and felt they already began to address a lot of problems with first season. But I'm not surprised the ratings tanked. No Voice lead in and many viewers aren't going to give the show a second chance after it's hot mess 1st season.
