Mctavish understood what made the Kelsey character tick, and I think some of the ideas for the Kelsey character looked promising on paper. Her ideas about Ryan/Gillian were also good and not sure why what appeared on screen was vastly different then what was on her writings.

Lastly, Liza seemed like she was going to be written like Liza of old... but was it because Marcy Walker became more matronly by the late 90s so she abandoned those plans?

  • I came across in my "soap research" box some photocopies I have of Megan McTavish 1995 and 1998 correspondences with Angela Shapiro and other various ABC execs (not stuff from her "memoir.") I haven't

  • Thanks both of you—I had forgotten I had all of this kept away in boxes and haven't looked at it in ten years or so. I don't think I can or should take photos and share then due to certain connections

So I got my SON name from Brandon's company. 😁 Anyway, Erica's Dick Cavett interview was funny - she trashed Pine Valley and made all the citizens appear as simple hicks. The whole town was watching t

Was the problem with Kesley the actress or the writing? Did she have family chemistry with the Martins?

Didn’t she want Brooke gone, however a Brooke scored well with the audience?

If the Kate Collins left due to behind the scenes issues, but they chose the actor for Trevor over her, then to go through all that trouble to redeem Janet was ridiculous, I do agree with that

Personally, I think it was both. T. C. Warner was irritating to watch, with a voice that drove me bonkers; and her introduction story was just sooooo convoluted. (Kelsey just happens to be pregnant with Bobby Warner's baby? How convenient.). Turning her into a master manipulator like DAYS' Sami would not have made me want to keep watching her. If anything, it just would've made me wish AMC's next big umbrella story was "Who Killed Kelsey?".

@EricMontreal22 - thank you for posting all of those McT letters! How fascinating.

I'm on holiday still, so don't have much time to engage, but quickly caught up. All this discussion of the storylines/characters from that time are bringing back great memories. )

TPTB never understand that younger viewers want to see the older, veteran actors as much as, if not more than, the actors who are their own ages. As much as I loved watching Greg and Jenny BITD, the number-one reason why AMC remains my all-time favorite soap (after GL) is because of Erica. SHE was the person I wanted to be like when I grew up.

Opal slapping Liza.

Damn, this was good.

It's amazing how quickly we went from THAT Liza to the pathetic creature we later saw on-screen.
