April 15, 201114 yr Member We know CBS was embarrassed and ashamed by its daytime soaps, but ABC and AMC/OLTL are different animals, so I wonder if they'll do anything in primetime to commemorate these shows. If anything, I'd love to see one last AMC Christmas, even if it's in the form of a primetime special (will never happen, I know).
April 15, 201114 yr Member Susan can do Lifetime/Hallmark movies too. Though, I always guessed she really wanted to do comedy and Broadway... It'll always be difficult to shake the image of "Erica Kane" out of viewers' minds, but I've a feeling this isn't the last we've seen of Susan Lucci, the actress, by a long shot.
April 15, 201114 yr Member I don't, cause there were rumors AMC was being cancelled not long before the move was announced. Something like this doesn't happen overnight, it had to be in the works for awhile. I honestly believe OLTL was always safe cause it didn't move. It had more stability, AMC was unstable before the move and it got worse afterwards Well, I guess we'll never know for sure. But I remember thinking OLTL wasn't even going to make the move to AMC's old studios at the time....but the demos for OLTL held steady, and they moved.....and then OLTL was the only show not to go HD....and then the only show not to get a new opening, lol...
April 15, 201114 yr Member JD Roth, ha, I used to watch him every morning before school when he hosted a kids game show called Fun House. Anyone else remember that (late '80s/early '90s)? I do! I actually had a crush on him, too, if you can believe that, lol.
April 15, 201114 yr Member I'd rather want Monday-Thursday airings. 4 day averages will be higher because Fridays are usually the lowest of the week. And you can shut down production for about 2 months. If it could have been worked out with the various associations and such considering the alternative, each soap on 13 week cycles would have been better than just getting rid of them. New contracts worked out and all that jazz. It would have given them their 2 hours to experiment as well. It's the top story on the entertainment shows tonite. EXTRA did a stort of half-hearted Save the Soaps thing stemming from Kelly Ripa on Regis & Kelly. They interviewed Cameron. He looked very sad (it's like his entire family was fired) and said he was mad. He was also looking for work ("call me"), heh. I missed most of the Insiders segment but caught the co-hosts discussing growing up with soaps.
April 15, 201114 yr Member ChristinaBLind Christina Lind a very sad day in Pine Valley. Thanks to all for your support, I owe so much to you all. And for eye sex when no eye sex was to be found

Viewers got sick of him. I know I did.

That is such a good idea Angela, if people don't look at the soaps in the same old way, take another picture. This frees up two months for actors to do guest work, independent features, movies, etc., Maybe we could get Tuc Watkins to be more "permanant" as the show would come and go. Maybe where OLTL ends after 13 weeks, AMC could pick up and they alternate or something. I don't know, I am watching OLTL right now and I can't give up Nora and Bo and Cristian and Rama and Nigel Erik
April 15, 201114 yr Member Entertainment Tonite says ABC denies the Lucci and DH rumor (that was the headline). They discussed if Lucci was blindsided considering the interviews on various talk shows where she was talking about scheduling into 2012. They talked to Lynn L. from Digest. They're doing more on the soaps later. Access Hollywood did a story on the Royal wedding first, unlike the other 3. The soap story was focused on Kelly Ripa on Live. It made me laugh, well Kelly's story about Mark made me laugh. "He still talks fluent soap opera."
April 15, 201114 yr Member Also, I never thought I'd say this but he really should've kept the beard. When did Frons get divorced?
April 15, 201114 yr Member AMCStephanie Stephanie Gatschet Talking to guy @ a coffee shop, he's upset about losing #AMC. Re: replacement shows he said "Would u watch a weight loss show for 40 yrs?!"
Maybe , you never know. I threw out the idea of Agnes Nixon consulting on the show's final weeks and immediately shat on my own idea, and look at what we found out yesterday (now, whether that's true or not ...). But if any soap gets a primetime special it would probably be AMC given the fact that Susan Lucci's name is about the only one that carries some sort of primetime weight. Even if it came on one Sunday night at 7pm preempting AFV, I don't think that is such a crazily ridiculous idea at all, I think it's very doable. Shoot, once a year they could do the equivalent of a TV 2 hr. TV movie where we got self-contained beginning, middle, and end stories about a couple groups of characters and just stream it on ABC.com. Remember those Castillo webisodes? To me, stuff like that is VERY doable and economical, there's no reason they shouldn't keep up with that. They're keeping GH for now, and they could advertise online only Hubbards, Jerica, or Rylee (blech!) minisodes every couple of months. The simplest of bones to toss the fans. Shoot them on dv in a damn hotel room, those Griffen and Cara online vids looked great.

April 15, 201114 yr Member My first, most vivid television memory is of watching the Watergate hearings in 1973 at my rapt mother’s side. My second involves exposure to villainy of another kind — that of Billy Clyde Tuggle, the sort of pimp who drugged his employee base on “All My Children.” http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/16/arts/television/all-my-children-and-one-life-to-live-life-lessons.html No one ever forgets Billy Clyde.
April 15, 201114 yr Member I guess we can add Jamey vs Frons to that thread of soap rivalries. According to Jamey he got a call from a Fron's PR guy demanding he take down his link to the leaked video of Frons telling AMC & OLTL they're canceled. I don't really see the point now, cats out of the bag already. Besides Disney already pulled it from youtube, what's making DC taking it down going to do?
