June 19, 201114 yr Member Their excuse now? AMC and OLTL might get picked up so why do a tribute. Personally as I said I don't believe it has a thing to do with it. It would cut into Marie Osmands performance time. Actually, I read that they're doing it next year, because both shows will be eligible for Emmy's next year (since the eligibility period for next year is Jan-Dec 2011). Technically, OLTL would also be eligible the following year, since it will air for three weeks during that eligibility period, but I doubt it would compete that year.
June 19, 201114 yr Member Did they do a tribute to ATWT last year? Yeah, it was done by Jon Hensley and his wife...and it lasted about two minutes.
June 19, 201114 yr Member I guess GL was the "luckiest", with a random Betty White tribute and a blink and you'll miss it cast shot, with a lot of stuff cut before airing.
June 19, 201114 yr Member Don't forget, GL's montage was set to Rihanna's "Take a Bow," a song in which she tells a guy that he looks dumb as hell, his lies had her going for a while, and it's time for him to get the f!ck. ATWT's 50th anniversary tribute was way better than the farewell salute, but that's really saying nothing.
June 19, 201114 yr Member I really hope there aren't protests tonight at the Emmy's. That's utterly stupid. Way to disrespect the actor's there being honored
June 19, 201114 yr Member All My Shadows, Thank you for saying what you did about the GL tribute. I remember at the time people thought it was great, but that song was ludicrous except if you look at it as a screw you to the people who ruined the program. Of course, the Emmy people would not be subversive. I think it is okay that there isn't an AMC or OLTL tribute this year, because it is Father's Day weekend. It would stink to have to travel just for a 2 minute montage.
June 21, 201114 yr Member ONLY ON THE BLOG: Answering today's OFF-SET questions is ardent soap opera fan, Flo DiBona of Sacramento, CA. http://inthearena.blogs.cnn.com/2011/06/20/flo-dibona-millions-of-soap-opera-fans-are-willing-to-put-our-consumer-purchasing-power-behind-whoever-saves-soaps-from-extinction/ This is the funny part.... If AMC leaves the air, "General Hospital" will remain as ABC's only daytime drama, meaning only four will be left on ABC, CBS and NBC's daytime schedule. What will you watch? I very rarely watch All My Children during the day. We DVR it and watch it when the family sits down for some quiet time together in the evening. We laugh together and discuss storylines as we watch. General Hospital will not remain on the air. We have seen every indication that a cancellation announcement is eminent. All My Children and One Life To Live will almost definitely leave ABC. For as long as General Hospital remains, many will leap to it when these shows end on ABC if they don’t already watch. Except for the three soaps, millions of viewers are turning their backs on all ABC programming. Ummm...millions of viewers? Don't think so....

June 23, 201114 yr Member So sad when these media people don't double-check their facts before posting something soap opera related... Interestingly, both All My Children and One Life to Live were created by Agnes Dixon, who was also a head writer on Guiding Light. http://www.thenational.ae/arts-culture/film/the-soaps-are-on-the-ropes-as-networks-axe-venerable-daytime-dramas
June 23, 201114 yr Member Interestingly, both All My Children and One Life to Live were created by Agnes Dixon, who was also a head writer on Guiding Light. Agnes' brother by another mother, Ivan Dixon, went on to quite a prolific acting and directing career.

June 23, 201114 yr Member Randy would spend the entire time telling people that he worked with Mariah and Whitney, and then agreeing with everything everyone says. Did you know that Agnes Dixon changed her name because she didn't want people to know she had dubbed Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady?
June 23, 201114 yr Member ThSoapWhisperer Soap Whisperer So I've done some more digging... It appears ABC won't sell because they are afraid AMC & OLTL may find success on another network. ThSoapWhisperer Soap Whisperer If they r successful on another network, it would be a slap in face on how others are more successful then they are with their own shows. ThSoapWhisperer Soap Whisperer Will continue to investigate and see what we can uncover. ThSoapWhisperer Soap Whisperer If you also remember Chrishell's tweeting about rumors a few months back and we thought they were about Frons. That wasn't the case. ThSoapWhisperer Soap Whisperer She had heard the same thing, ABC had offers for the soaps. At that time it was not known ABC would decline.
