AMC and OLTL Canceled!

Maybe the answer all along was for the networks to go to cable companies and concoct some sort of PPV deal like sports does. You pay $10/month and you get AMC on demand. If only half said yes, that is 10 million a month or 2.5 million/week. If 10 wasn't enough say 12.95. Whatever works. You could run it with limited commercial interruption to increase the revenue.

Who's to say AMC or OLTL would retain it's audience anyways? If it were on another network, they'd gut it so much to make it "FIT" on the network

Sadly they would probably do a better job of that than ABC has in the last decade.

How many Otalia fans showed up to protest at Lifetime? Was it more than the amount that went to Pittsburgh?

I might buy it if there had been any kind of build up to it. Isn't there enough contrived sh*t on this show already?

I'm just gonna agree to disagree right now lol Whether there's any build up or not is purely in the eye of the beholder, but those of us who've been calling for Minks aren't pulling it out of thin air, and neither is SOD. We see it. We want it.

For a second there, I thought that was a wink to "FIT TV." :-D

So I read people are donating money to have a full page ad taken out.

I think I'll pass, too risky, someone might get greedy and take off with the money

Full page ad where? Honestly I think that's one of the more positive, proactive ideas. I donated money for the Brokeback Mountain ad in Variety after the film lost the Best Picture Oscar. It's a great way to get press. I don't think it'll change things but IMO it's a great way show that soap fans aren't illiterate losers completely divorced from the realities of the entertainment industry. It also shows that soap fans have disposable income.

But you're right about the risk. Something like this needs to be coordinated by someone with a "history" of being connected to these shows. A name we've seen before. It would be easier to give your money to a Toups from SON rather than to some nebulous character who calls themselves "MartinFan" or ManningFan" that we've never of before with a Hotmail address. (Apologies to any real MartinFan or ManningFan who happens to be out there. Just using that as an example.)

Unless, of course, they thank "Erica Kane" and "Tad Martin" (rather than SL and MEK) for all their "50 years of hard work" on "ALL MY CHILDEN," and inexplicably juxtapose their images with those of Sailor Moon and glittery unicorns w/ rainbow-colored tails.

Or my personal fave: "Without Carla Grey, there'd be no Barack Obama!"

SOD tend to go the way the wind blows most of the time. I've very rarely see them pander a stupid storyline, cause they know the shows are their bread & butter.

Mopst Bianca fans don't seem to gung ho on this either. It didn't work with NotLesbian Reese, why would it work with Marissa, who's not even been shown to swing both ways?

Or any way, for that matter?

They want to take out an ad in the Hollywood Reporter

Nellie can go suck it, for all I care. Did he rant like this when ATWT and GL were canceled? (No, really, did he? I forget.) Either way, would he be this outraged if his favoritest show ever, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, hadn't been axed? Chances are, if it were just AMC, he would just shrug and say, "Sorry, guys!".

Exactly. If anything maybe the demise of OLTL will send him and his rubbish he passes off as journalism packing.

And Jamey with him. They both worked overtime over the last year to "save" OLTL by demonizing AMC (and GH) and they're still at it. They don't care about the genre, the care about OLTL. And that wouldn't bother me if they would stop pretending to give a damn about AMC.
