See, that's the "fair weathered" reporting you get on DC. I swear, I remember for the longest time Jamey Giddens would praise OLTL and then when the KISH story was dropped and the show had to reshuffle it's actors he disregarded it which I felt agrivated more fans than anything. I never once heard him say, let's wait it out and OLTL will get better again. The show had to rely on its own devices, then ironically rebounded. Then Jamey praised the show like he knew it would get better despite the rough patch. Most of the fans of GH that post on DC are the same way. They hate Guza and then Guza penned this edgy story about baby Jake being killed by a drunken Luke Spencer and they saw this to be a story to which they were accustomed, that didn't involve the mob but members of the Spencer/Webber/Quartermaine families. However, I don't think that story has evolved as well...so I bet they hate Guza again. That's why I like all of you. You stick to your opinions, you're articulate, and you respond to one another and you don't try to say the same effing thing the last ten people just said as if you were reinventing the wheel.

You and I are going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I didn't get anything flippant or apathetic about his comment. He was giving the standard positive comment. The stuff re: Frons was pure suck up which makes sense because one day JPL could be up for a job at ABC and a positive word from Frons could make a difference. Also, it is tough for all the actors with or without children, but most of them are not going to have a public wailing and gnashing of the teeth like some fans seem to be demanding. Most of them hope to work again so they are trying for some dignity and protecting their reputations. There are only so many Charlie Sheens in this world.

Long story.

In March last year, Farah posted on her Myspace account (yep, Myspace) that she has her middle finger up to everyone on SON and TWOP. She said "Quit talking [!@#$%^&*] about me for one goddamn minute". Then, she posted - "Farah Fath understands she's in the field of scrutiny. But doesn't understand how she can be scrutinized for standing up for herself. So sue me". And then she made this ridiculous attempt at an apology, and she called everyone on SON and TWOP "somewhat pathetic". She also claimed that she would never read the message boards again.

I haven't even gone back to any of it and it's been over a year, yet I still remember it so well. She's just hilariously inept with online fans.

Now hold on there  ... like what!? She is as she always says "nakedly psychological" and she has annoyed me a couple of times but I would never go that far. She does have a rep for being a prickly perfectionist which she's mentioned. There's nothing wrong with being a perfectionist and if people are clowning around or not stepping up I think she has a right to be upset, but indeed, she needs to watch how she comes out of her face at people.

The most "terrible" thing she ever said that actually made me bust a gut was about the little boy who used to play Jack. On his first day he wasn't memorized and fumbling over his lines. When he was done, I guess his mother told him to go around and give everyone a hug. When he got to Robin she said, "No, I'm not giving you a hug!" (cast and crew within earshot: :o:nbe::blink: ) "Not until you come back prepared! ;) " As rough as that may sound to a child, I get what she was going for and I think he learned a valuable lesson that day. :D

    • They just aired a montage of Marcus and Dahlia swimming, with music playing in the background singing "Skin to Skin", for 4 MINUTES.  No joke or exaggeration. 4 minutes of them swimming at nighttime, no dialogue, just swimming.  WTF.
    • It's giving Ashley as "type A" personality, while Derek is giving "type B" personality, and they're clashing.

    • I remember my late mom express passionate love of the show (being that we're Irish Americans and how Johnny and Maeve Ryan reminded her of her grandfather)... and that she viewed Jillian and Mary as role models. When the show ran on SoapNet years ago, I remember watching the early episodes and having debates with my mom over how strident and militant the show was... especially in regards to feminist issues.  And how I found Mary to be a hypocrite (she's a reporter... yet can't suss out that her father and brother are both toxic and controlling)... and Jillian to not be quite a good role model (yes, she's a lawyer.. but she's happily waiting for Frank to divorce Delia and then after the divorce.. waits for him to win elections as she silently waits on the sidelines). My mom did admit that in retrospect, she did find the show to be a bit strident and explained that it was the 70s and feminism was a huge passion for her and others like her.   And that was when I learned to view soaps without a modern day lens... and eventually I did find enjoyment on the show (and their St Patrick's day celebrations were always a fun tradition).

    •     In a video intetview, it was Richard Backus (Barry) who said Sarah told everyone off at her goodbye party.                                                                               On the Soapnet forum, it was Sean, the MemoryBook webmaster ( he also posts here)  who told us Sarah had been fired. Everyone on the board was shocked. For some reason noobody recalled that. In more recent years, it's been easier to find old press clippings that show that her dismissal was announced in newspapers and magazines.                                      Sean also told us that many of Sarah's castmates were not sorry to see her go. One of the columns about her firing in 1980 said that Sarah "raised the ire" of her co-workers.                                        On the SN board, we were told that Sarah would speak negatively about the show to the press. For example, she reportedly criticized the show for dumping the Pat/Nancy interfaith storyline.  The network didn't like Sarah speaking out like that

    • During Taggert Alan mentions Amanda as his "daughter" while that most likely is a writers slip up, I like to think it was a retcon. They never have Alex, on any of her frequent trips back mention Amanda as my sister, etc. I know they just want to forget it and Amanda was probematic in her marriage to Roger (i.e. MADD's decree that Roger will never be mentioned again..) Again, they could have easily brought her back with a handwave from Alex or Alan saying it was a trick from Brandon.   There is Amanda, AM and ALL the various offspring Phillip created. Plus head of family means head of Spaulding.   I would have thought it interesting if Phillip becomes more like Alan (but in the gray area he always was, not outright cartoon villain RR Alan) and AM comes back with more of his Bauer coming out and wanting to do things on the up and up..maybe AM became a lawyer like his grandfather in the missing years...and Amanda could play both sides against the other.  But also they could have brought someone like Kyle Sampson back to rival Phillip and the Spaulding (maybe Amanda married him) but then, of course there would be ANOTHER man horning after long in the tooth Reva!
