Sigh, I don't want to tell people to give up hope, but I don't know how I honestly feel about actors of the cancelled shows telling fans to write and call because they want to keep the soaps on the air. Umm, I get that people want to keep their jobs, but I feel like no amount of calling, ranting or raving is going to change things - and I think the actors know that.

She's basically been OLTL's main female lead for 15 years and only managed to snag ONE emmy nomination in a year where I think 7 people were nominated in the category. I think that says it all. Kassie DePaiva is kind of like Alicia Minshew. More than adequate for daytime, but as a supporting player.

I remember reading similar stories how daytime advertisers prefer soaps, and with the 100's and 100's of cable channel daytime programming they certainly have a lot of non soap choices, but they prefer soaps as the best way to show their products to a target audience.

The P&G soaps had an older audience so a reaction like this didnt happen because those soaps were getting low demos in their target audience, and also maybe P&G limited advertisers due to their ownership, but the ABC demos are exactly what advertisers WANT!

It may also be this big reaction is due to the fact the genre is dying out, and the dual cancellations may have been the wake-up call for companies to take notice and they realize if they dont take a stand too, their prefered genre to advertise in will disappear.

I can't explain it. There are actors - plenty of actors - who always get me riled up whenever they're on-screen. Kassie's one of them.

Of course, much of the writing for Blair over the years hasn't done her any favors....
