Going back to the dream returns talk, in my dream world, all of the following would make a return, in some form, before OLTL ends:

Lynn Benesch (Meredith Lord), Michael Storm (Dr. Larry Wolek), Anthony D. Call (Herb Callison), Jessica Tuck (Megan Gordon), Andrea Evans (Tina Lord), John Loprieno (Cord Roberts), James DePaiva (Max Holden), Brynn Thayer (Jenny Wolek), Judith Light (Karen Wolek), Julie Siegel (Lee Warrick or Leonie Norton), Melissa Fumero (Adriana Cramer), Laura Bonarrigo (Cassie Callison), Wortham Krimmer (Andrew Carpenter), Dan Gauthier (Kevin Buchanan), Ellen Holly (Carla Gray), Al Freeman, Jr. (Ed Hall), Pamela Payton-Wright (Addie Cramer), Fiona Hutchinson (Gabrielle Medina), Ellen Bethea (Rachel Gannon), Nathan Purdee (Hank Gannon), Timothy D. Stickney (R.J. Gannon), & Marilyn Chris (Wanda Wolek).

I'd mention more, but I wouldn't want anyone to think I was getting out of hand. ;) And for the love of God, can Andrew/Cassie and Cord/Tina PLEASE REUNITE!

I've met the pipe, I know the pipe. I'm okay. :)

I think Andrea Evans, Melissa Fumero, Dan Gauthier, and Laura Bonarrigo are definite possibilities. I'd add Patricia Elliot (Renee) to that list too. I don't think she's appeared at all this year. Of the others, I think that Michael Storm is the only realistic one, and even that is somewhat remote. I'd love to see him back. He was an important part of the series for over 25 years, even if his later years were in a limited capacity.

People seem to think that boycotting ABC, sending soap to the studios, etc will get ABC to change their minds about canceling the soaps. Unless you want the FBI on your butt, you will do no such thing. You watched enough soaps over the years to find a more constructive manner in dealing with this. Calling is a waste of time and energy as the network is deleting your messages and changing telephone #'s for their employees as fast as you hit a key stroke on your keyboard (for many, they ain't fast enough). Tuning out only gives you less time to tune in. If you find yourself seeking input from the 2-3 people that "boycotted" outside of the Early Show studios after Guiding Light and As The World Turns got canceled, you'll come across as much of a loon as you've been deemed to be for watching soap operas.

So ask yourself, what can you do to save your soaps?

I don't think there is anything we can do as for some their favorite soap is gone and their interest in daytime goes away too. That's life, but if someone wants to send a letter knowing that it will be tossed into the trash, the postal service will be very happy that you paid for the stamp. If someone doesn't want to watch ABC or any channel related to Disney because they are so disgusted over what happened, that's fine as long as I am not told what to do. Doing this won't make them change their minds, but it may make some feel better. These people aren't the first viewers to give up a television station solely based on a decision by the owners.

I agree, but as someone mentioned upthread, possibly you, Eric, ATWT and GL were seen as dinosaurs, relics of a different time. Even into 80s, they were starting to be considered the shows "your grandmother watched." When they were cancelled, I think the media considered them these quaint little old shows. I think the ABC shows, rightly or wrongly, were perceived as more hip...the shows that people reporting the news actually grew up with. AMC and OLTL were their shows, so that's probably why more the coverage. I was never a big ATWT fan, and in fact it the only one of the P&G shows that still aired from the 80s and on that I never watched for any period of time. But I always respected its place in soap history. It was a shame that it, and probably the less-iconic GL, went out with a wimper. But honestly, with the way news stories are eaten up and forgotten the next day in this immediate gratification culture, I'm sure any uproar over these cancellations will soon die down.

    • Well....gotta have ducks.  lol
    • YES!  Glad it worked out - now Leslie is with Eva and Kat with her Dad. And they didn't have to rearrange the other opening at all.
    • Sad to hear that Joe Don Baker has passed away. I loved the original version of Walking Tall and I've seen it multiple times. I remember watching it for the very first time at 13-years-old at my grandparents' house and being so enraptured by the film. At least he lived a pretty good and long life and he had a very solid and memorable career, so there's that. I hope he rests in peace.
    • Seeing Guza and Julie Hanan names on my TV screen just takes me back to high school. Sweet memories. I know the feeling.  I am finally jumping on the bandwagon about Leslie not being Eva's mother.

that was fast! And I love that he's still next to Leslie, Kat and Eva   at least she does her laundry!
    • Carter and Daphne can both be written out; I caught the end because I’m off work.     Thank god for everything you did for Hope, Carter.  The way she - as an Attorney / realized Ridhe nor Eric, nor anyone ever checks Hope’s paperwork because she’s such a trusted attorney.  What a terrible thing and idea and you Carter, you tried to talk her out of it at first but then as she bulled forward - yep, you backed it.     Oh wait.  Totally opposite — YOUUU were the attorney with the idea.     that is so unbelievably dumb. What is the point?
    • Oh yeah, definitely! I actually like this storyline because it's very realistic and we are definitely starting to see the cracks in Ashley and Derek's relationship. I also like that they are finally starting to develop Ashley as a character and putting her in scenes with her mom Jan also helps a lot. I'm not so sure about Ashley and Andre as a couple though and I'm also still sort of on the fence about Andre/Dani too. Maybe if the writers continue to flesh out Ashley as a character and give her a real purpose outside of Derek and Jan I might eventually warm up to them as a couple if the writers actually intend for them to be a real thing long term. I'm not entirely convinced that Andre/Dani are in it for the long haul and I feel like they should have kept Andre as a womanizing lothario because at least he would have something of a personality.
    • One of the main traits of a Type A personality is ambition/competitiveness. That's not Ashley.
    • LOL - such a good point. They think it'll go over well and be glamorous and amazing, but sometimes it just ends up being cringe. This wedding so far is a little cringe. They have ducks walking around the hotel foyer and towards the camera, for heck's sake haha.
