AMC: Hubbard birth spoilers

Speaking personally, I have no interest in that. I'm not interested in watching J&A be parents. I'm interested in them as a couple and this affects their relationship with each other. Jesse is Angie's rock and he's going to tell her an insane lie which only builds on all the other lies he's told her out of love. This is about trust and committment and the breaking of that. J&A are a supercouple and that's what supercouple drama is about. Big couples need big drama. And honestly, if we accept that Jesse let his family think he was dead for 20 years in order to protect them, this is completely in character for him.

+1 and a Zendall fan I can attest to that.

I personally have no interest in something like that. Why do characters have to "turn to someone else" when something bad happens? Sure I say turn to a friend, but why do people have to sleep with someone or kiss someone when things are bad?

We already watch them be parents with Frankie. What about when Frankie has another kid? Will people not want see them be grandparents cause that's "boring"

ZF, I think everybody gets that you preemptively hate the story or/and anything S&K do, lol.

I don't feel this story is damaging to Jesse. He loves his wife and makes a "bad decision" in hopes of not crushing her. It'll take some work but they can get through it even if they're seperated for a while and it's going to give Debbie and Darnell some amazing story. I find this less damaging to their characters than the Natalia/Rebecca arc. I also got to give S&K credit, I don't know the last time such a strong story was presented for African America characters on daytime. I don't know how they'll follow through but I like that they came up with something like this for them.

I do agree that S&K tend to start out so strong sometimes then manage to flop good and hard in what I've seen of them on AMC so far. Hopefully no over the top evil cartoon villains enter this story down the road or/and they don't make David that OTT evil villain in this story. This story does have a touch of piling on which is another S&K problem, they have to be careful with that. I am confident Angie will get her sight back (they have to do that), who baby Lucy will end up with is another story. I'm also torn on what I feel about them not letting the baby survive, as I think most fans are regardless of the potential they see.

Exactly! The white folks always get the baby switches! For obvious reasons, of course. Jesse's managed to come back from the dead and now he's doing a baby switch just like any other character. He's the Jesse Owens of soaps! And hopefully when all this is over, Darnell can stand on the Emmy stage and give a nice black power salute. LOL!

They are piling this stuff on with Angie and Jesse, just like various writers piled stuff on Zendall for years. I stopped being a Zendall fan a long time ago but the writers really did keep piling stuff on them. And K&S have piled a lot of stuff on Kendall as well, since Zach has died. Too much stuff, IMO.

I wouldn't want to see Angie sleeping around, but I do think it would be interesting if she divorced Jesse or at least considered divorcing him. And turned to someone/bonded/leaned on someone like David. Things wouldn't necessarily have to get romantic with those two, though I wouldn't mind it, because I think they have really good chemistry. But she could lean on him, they could bond over losing children and that could really upset Jesse. That could be interesting to watch, though I doubt we will get something like that.

Also, regarding Frankie it's downright shameful they don't use him more. If they want drama for the hubbards, keep things interesting for them then should use Frankie. He's right there, waiting to be utilized. Frankie did have a child with Mia, even though I think they are acting like that child doesn't exist. I think that I read somewhere that Cornelius said that he was told that Frankie no longer has a child with Mia, and that his storyline with her doesn't really exist after they de-sorased him.

They could provide storyline for Frankie if the brought back his kid with Mia. They could do some sorasing/desorasing on both the child and Frankie's end and make the kid like 7 or something. They can say Frankie had him when he was 19. Frankie's like what 26/27? That could work.

Frankie could have been all up in Madison's storyline with Ryan/Scott/the baby. Instead of popping out once in a while warning one of them that they better treat her right.

Frankie is someone that could drive story, but the writers don't use him. And insist on focuing on blocks of wood like Griffin/Asher instead. He is the one that the writers could use if they wanted to keep things intereting for the hubbard give them drama sometimes. they really only use Angie, (Jesse don't seen to have many storylines or much airtime outside of hi interaction with Angie. K&S is really only using Angie to drive stories for the Hubbards, while continue to have Jesse do wacky/sheisty stuff, like he also did under Prattt and they are pretty much ignoring Frankie.

Even though they should be using Frankie to also drive story. Frankie is someone that could drive storylines for the Hubbard family even if DM is away, and maybe taking more breaks at time due to her illness. But the writers won't use him and that’ not right. Especially when they give people like Griffin/Asher storylines and keep bringing on new characters and using them.

OH.

MY.

GOD.

I am kinda pissed at myself for reading this, totally denied myself of an all too rare these days true soap EVENT. On paper, this is classic great American drama, in the unsteady hands of today's AMC, I am scared as [!@#$%^&*].

We all need to write DW letters of encouragement because this story and Jesse's remaining shreds of integrity are totally riding on him. We know good and well he won't always be helped by the writing. He needs to play the DESPERATION, the gut-wrenching love and DESPERATION of this, the deceit needs to be muted by all of that to keep Jesse as far away from ruination as possible. Black folk don't do stuff like this.

EXACTLY what I was thinking, and I don't mean to offend, I'm part white myself, but it's up to Darnell and Debbie to imbue this story with their sensibilities. They know what they need to do because they won't always be helped by the writing. More now than ever, DW's acting choices are going to have to be specific and on POINT.

I am almost convinced now that Madison's baby is going to be Frankie's. I think the faux Hubbard baby being latin is kind of genius and potentially hilarious. It's not uncommon for brown/dark-skinned people to be born light. The give away is going to be the hair.

A few things though:

-Jesse and Brot's jobs are totally on the line; I think Brot is going to get fired for being an accessory and join Natalia out of town; I think they both will avoid jail time though... I hope

-I'm wondering if Angie will end up adopting this baby regardless or lose her like she lost Kayla on The City

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
    • Its realistic for Dani and  true of how the character thinks and operates. We've known her long enough to by that this would be consistent with her past characterizatioin
    • Random takes: - What was even the point of that jeweler guy? Also—Dani was borderline harassing him. - I know I’m probably in the minority here, but I want Jacob and Kat to happen. I need something messy to completely dismantle the Duprees—and Katomas just isn’t cutting it.  - I officially can’t stand Jacob and his wife. Same goes for Anita and Vernon. - Hayley’s corset was just as ugly as it looked uncomfortable. - I genuinely don’t remember when or how Derek and Ashley reconciled—and I’m someone who didn’t even mind their storyline! LMAO. - Tuesday’s episode was a mess. - Dani finding out about Hayley’s pregnancy and immediately thinking, “She’s faking it”—huh?! What writer thought that was a realistic reaction? I get denial, but that leap was absurd. I agree the ‘Leslie Victorious’ moment was way OTT. But hey, at least I wasn’t yawning. The following episode, where she handed over her daughter’s last few belongings was much better. - I can’t with the constant back-and-forth between Orphey Gene’s and the Country Club. I forgot this was such a soap trope, but even back in my loyal viewer days (late ‘90s, early 2000s), it wasn’t this bad. While GH has a ton of beautiful sets, we’re stuck with the same three—and half of them are ugly. Also: it’s been way too long since we had a party, gala, or any kind of event. I know the Richardsons’ anniversary gala (back in late April) has had a big ripple effect, but I was kinda getting used to those large-scale episodes. Fingers crossed they don’t go with Guza.
    • The horrific comments execs and writers make when they justify rape storylines or keeping rapists as love interests is just so icky. I remember Ron Carlivati's comments about the reraping of Marty storyline on OLTL. Made my skin crawl.  No matter what you think of her, Susan Lucci could have demanded front burner storylines but she never did. She was happy to be part of an ensemble. I never got that vibe from Zimmer.  For me, Reva was just not a character I cared that much about after a certain point no matter how talented Zimmer is/was. I think Zimmer had a keener eye for what made a good storyline, but she was less willing to take a backseat if it meant someone else got to shine. I'm trying to recall if she ever mentions Michelle Forbes in her book--one of the few times the viewers did not care about Reva in a storyline. My sense is if she did, it was probably some backhanded remark about how she had to show Forbes the ropes.
