How many Masquerade parties have we seen in SOAPS??? I can remember:

THE SECRET STORM: 1955 and 1973

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: 1991 and 2010

SANTA BARBARA: 1987 and 1988

ONE LIFE TO LIVE: 1981 Asa and Sam's party

ALL MY CHILDREN : 1980

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL: 1992 when Karen/Caroline meets Ridge and 1997 Costume Ball after Ridge shot Grant

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: 1992

So The secret STorm is the first soap with a mask ball???

Guiding Light did a masquerade ball in 1984 when Alex was introduced and when Philip found out Alan was not his biological father. They did one again in 1986 when Alan returned.

Oh and I believe General Hospital did one in 1997 or 1998 when Katherine Bell fell from the parapet at Wyndemere.

Was AMC's Mardi Gras thing from 2006 supposed to be a masquerade party? I can't remember.

Yep it was as everyone was in masks. The theme was a Mardi Gras Masquerade. BTW, That ball ROCKED.

She looks like Helena Bonham Carter/Vivienne Westwood or something.

Wow, how did Jamie's jacket escape memory? Adam's came to do business too.

ATWT had a masquerade ball in late 1993. I have a scan of that too...somewhere.

Not so much a masquerade ball, but Days had the opening of Shenanigans in 81 and everyone came in costume, That night Mary Anderson was killed and Jake was revealed as the Salem Strangler!!

Goldensoaps, what were the stories behind The Secret Storm's costume parties?

There was one on AMC in 1989. There are clips of it on youtube. Here is a link to a clip.

To this day, I'm still pissed about AMC's Mardi Gras explosion. Not because of who got killed (didn't care for James Scott), but b/c it was clear Megan McTavish finally got to do with Janet what she had wanted to do before the Murrah Building bombing happened and wrecked her plans. And she relished it, too.
