April 25, 201115 yr Member ATWT also worked Mary Ellen Stuart's dance background into the character - it's a bit cheesy, but also better than you'd think (and more entertaining than the "let's dance for my dead second cousin" tedium that made me stop watching So You Think You Can Dance).
April 25, 201115 yr Author Member the 91 betsy recast was necessary. Which Actresses Were Playing Dee and Annie in 1991 Jordan Baker in 94 was only a few days to usher in Dani then played By Kristina Loken When They Let Ashley Williams' Dani Go In Dec 96, they showed Kim On the phone talking to Betsy and the voice you heard was that of actress, Jennifer Van Dyck. GL used the same Device in 1998 when Beth called Mallet and you heard an actors voice only. I cant remember who that voice belonged to
April 25, 201115 yr Member Vicky Dawson and Mary Lynn Blanks played Dee and Annie in these clips. They were thisclose to recasting Emily until Melanie Smith came through towards the end. I wonder if they had recast, if she would have come back regularly after that instead of KMH being cast. It took me a long, long time to accept KMH, and in some ways I never did.
April 25, 201115 yr Member The recasting of Margo and Caleb were two of the reasons I started to lose interest in ATWT. At the time I didn't realize exactly why they had recast Caleb, but I just was never fond of Graham Winton and I wish they had found a more dynamic actor. O'Connor I also wasn't thrilled by, although Ellen Dolan seemed to be very different when she came back and after a few years of stories that involved Margo yelling all the time, I lost interest. Here's O'Connor: http://www.youtube.c...feature=related Hated O'Connor in the role as Margo. Her scenes were not existent to me. I floved Graham Winton as Caleb. He was totally different from previous Caleb. I noticed at the time Margo really didnt have a storyline of her own once O'Connor. took over. Funny how I only liked Hensley's Emily with Royce. I hated the character of Emily played by Hensley for most of her run. I preferred Smith. At time ATWT was hitting hugh numbers in the ratings.
April 25, 201115 yr Member GL's Alan-Michael Carl T Evans http://www.youtube.c...h?v=dTzNKpyrgKM Rick Hearst http://www.youtube.c...h?v=TD1bk09jCrI Both were great in the role. Carl's version was more bad boy Alan Michael. GL's Alan-Michael Michael Dietz http://www.youtube.c...h?v=h1BEkNjdXVs Michael Dempsey http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Q8vIeZtt4RI Dempsey wasnt that bad as AM. GL's Dinah 1986-Jennifer Gatti http://www.youtube.c...h?v=KOqXhrmzlWs Paige Turco 1987 http://www.youtube.c...h?v=dITkkMlea34 Gatti version was so tomboy. Such a vast difference from Turco's version. Here is the short-lived John Howard as 1996-era Paul Ryan. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=ZHlo5AxRnvw Aww...Model Paul as they called him. Matt Cavenaugh As ATWT's Adam http://www.youtube.c...h?v=2GZKWzOSK_I First time I thought Adam might be gay with Cavenaugh in the role. ATWT: Tom Degnan As Adam http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Eq_Aja8c5zY Looked so hot shirtless. He was a good Adam. ATWT: Zach Roerig As Casey 2005 http://www.youtube.c...h?v=kwFg5E70UZc ATWT: Billy Mangnussen As Casey 2009 http://www.youtube.c...h?v=6tHfo0ZYxf0 Zach who?? I also think Mary Ellen Stuart was a very good Frannie Hughes. She had a tough act to follow with Julianne Moore, but she did great. One of the scenes I will always remember her for was that time she was trapped on the ski mountain cable car with Daryl Crawford (Rex Smith). I was on the edge of my seat! Me too Had it ended with Darryl being revealed as Carolyn's killer, which I suspect had been Marland's intent at the outset, it would've made a helluva climax to a nail-biting whodunit. Unfortunately, it ended up being almost anti-climactic, as he turned out not to be the killer; and worse, the "Who Killed Carolyn Crawford?" mystery kept on going (and going) until pretty much everyone had forgotten or cared about it. Too bad Douglas changed the ending. He should have stayed with Darryl being the killer. Edited April 25, 201115 yr by Soapsuds
April 25, 201115 yr Member Hated O'Connor in the role as Margo. Her scenes were not existent to me. In the past, I've heard ATWT's then-EP Laurie Caso deliberately miscast Glynnis O'Connor as Margo, either in the hopes that Ellen Dolan (or Hillary B. Smith) would return, or to force Margo off the canvas entirely. I don't know if I can believe that. To me, it's like suggesting DAYS deliberately miscast Charity Rahmer as Belle in order to ensure that viewers would be more accepting of whoever replaced her. Why would any soap deliberately waste time and/or money hiring someone solely to recast them later or send their character away indefinitely? Anyway. I've never been one to poo-pooh O'Connor's turn as Margo. Was she as good as Dolan, HBS, or even Margaret Colin? No. But I believe that she is a very strong actress; that she was capable of making that role her own; and that b/c there was so much chaos happening behind-the-scenes in the wake of Doug Marland's death, neither Caso nor his writers had the energy to support her from the start. Frankly, under those conditions, I doubt if even Nancy Lee Grahn (ex-Julia, SANTA BARBARA; Alexis, GH), whom I wanted to succeed Dolan as Margo, would have made much of an impression on the audience. I floved Graham Winton as Caleb. He was totally different from previous Caleb. Same here. In a way, his Caleb - which was sort of a precursor, I think, to Michael Park's Jack - came closer to being the quintessential midwestern farm boy than Michael David Morrison. And, well, he wasn't bad-looking, either. ;-)
April 25, 201115 yr Member Zach who?? That's how I felt when Billy won me over in the role. Random fan encounter story. I met Billy on a train once. I had just picked up SOD and I was reading, so he comes up to me and tries to take it out of my hand. And I'm looking at him like WTF are you doing? So he insists that he's on a soap and I'm like "okay, whatever" as I don't really know if he is an actor or a nut. He's like "you don't believe me!" So he asks me to let him see the SOD a couple of times. So I finally give it to him and he finds a page with his picture and he's all like "that's me." He looked different but close enough so I agree that it's him. He asks me if I watch so I tell him "no, I only watch the ABC shows." Will I watch now? I said "maybe, but you should go one of my shows." He laughs. I feel like he wanted me to ask for a autograph, not in a egotistical way. I don't like acting fangirlish in person so I didn't. So he went to take a seat eventually as we both rode into Queens.

And, well, he wasn't bad-looking, either. ;-) I never bought him as a farmboy, although that might be because he spent most of his time as a cop. I just thought he was dull and self-righteous. Perhaps that's what Caleb would have been by that point anyway, but the edge Michael David Morrison brought to the role seemed to be gone. I also saw no chemistry with Susan Marie Snyder.

April 25, 201115 yr Member Hmmm, maybe, lol! Afterwards, I kind of felt bad for not being more impressed. I really had no idea who he was but he was really sweet.
April 25, 201115 yr Member Hmmm, maybe, lol! No "maybe" about it. If you had been more impressed (not that you should've been, who gives a flying fig which show he works on?), he would've struck up a deeper conversation with you. I guarantee it. :-)
May 2, 201115 yr Member Randall Edwards as Annie Stewart. Wanted to see this for a long time, yet somehow just stumbled on it accidentally. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-86H9TjdLA&feature=related
May 3, 201115 yr Member This is from an AW tenth anniversary writeup in Afternoon TV. This is the only photo I've seen of Margie Impert around the time she played Rachel (the AWHP one is from Highway to Heaven I think).
May 3, 201115 yr Member I didn't know there was a second Rachel! Was she in the role for an extended period of time or was a brief thing? By extended I mean at least a year. Also thanks for the Randall Edwards clip. I always wanted to see that as well. Any idea why that did n't work out? Regime changes or was she just not a good fit in the role?
May 3, 201115 yr Member Margie played Rachel for less than a year. Robin Strasser left for her husband's move out West. When he didn't leave after all, or some snag hit, Robin went back to AW for about six months. I think they were doing that so they could take time to find a stronger recast. I did feel sorry for Margie when I read that she was fired, and she wasn't told why, and then she learned after that Robin had come back. Apparently she was very upset. I guess that's acting. I think Randall was only on temporarily after Julie Ridley left, and they asked her to stay longer, but she declined. She never went back to soaps, which is too bad, as I love her work. Oh, Margie was on for even less time than I thought. Per AWHP, she was on from December 1971 to February 1972.
