Exactly.

Adam/Sharon COULD be together & Nick/Sharon/Adam COULD be compelling but Maria completely ruined any good by the terrible pacing (Adam/Sharon) & extreme shallow agenda driven writing (N/S/A).

Diego & Cameron were totally different situations than her current relationship with Adam so there's really no comparison.

Sharon Case should stop pimping Adam/Sharon given the circumstances but since Muhney at least TRIES to work himself out of the hole Maria's written the character into it's understandable why she prefers working with him than being stuck with Morrow's useless ass.

I've just never seen the chemistry between Adam and Sharon. They bore me just like she bored me with Jack. Both relationships feel driven by story not something organic I could see developing. Certainly not now with Adam and Sharon. I'd like her with someone new like Neil or Ronan or just anybody out of that Newman circle. She needs a big shift in the canvas. The only Newman I care for her with is Nick and they need time to re-group before it becomes like Victor and Nikki.

Neil/Sharon should've happened 3 years ago (and would have if Maria cared about That Black Storyline).

Ronan would be a terrible match for her (Jeff Branson is terrible).

You're right that she definitely needs away from both The Newmans & Abbotts (for now) though.

I don't think he won't tolerate a strong woman. I don't think he'll tolerate any woman who disagrees with him. As long as Sharon keeps putting out (and Lord knows that's a given), rubber stamping his agenda, clearly on his side hating who he hates standing up to the entire town and proclaiming his worthiness---Adam will be fine with her. Should she ever start doubting him, Sharon will be out on her ass as soon as he can transfer funds out of her accounts.

I can understand why Case is wanting Shazam to happen. 5 years ago Phick was getting all the attention and Morrow got another wildly popular pairing besides Shick. Nick had the option of two women while Sharon was practically stuck with Nick until now.

Shazam may be hot, unfortunately it's coming at the expense of the Sharon character.

No more than Nick/Giggly did.

Sharon doesn't exist as a character.

She has no job, no friends, no home & barely any interaction with her family.

Case's pimping of Shadam may be tasteless but it's not like Y&R's tried to use Sharon the character as anything other than a plot device the past few years.

Watching Jack "undercover" as a surfer dude is hilarious. He may have matted down his trademark swoop, but Auntie Jack might as well be swanning around in a navy Brooks Brothers blazer and penny loafers.

Vance! Yes, I have a little crush on the leather-faced toker.

It kind of surprises me how little interest there is in Y&R these days on this board. I know the diehards hate the show but I've been enjoying a lot of it recently. Maybe it's because I haven't been a real follower of this show as so many have for years. But the Cane story with TR pulled me back in and I'm actually engaged a good part of the show. And I'm not a Sharon and Adam fan but heck I like seeing Sharon have some backbone back and it has nothing to do with Adam I'm just happy Sharon/Nick seem to be done for a time. Loved them years ago but they just haven't worked at all in recent years and I'm not a Nick and Phyllis fan either.

Adding Collin really perked my interest in Cane and the show again. I never quit watching but I was drifting off and missing episodes last year. Between the double doppelgangers and Tucker treating Jill like trash I just didn't feel like watching as much.

What I'm not liking is the rotation of stories in the show. It takes so long for Jill/Colin/Cane to come up again. Is it every five, seven, or what ,nine shows? I don't understand the formula yet, but there seems to be the main stories in which the top ten cast members (like Phyllis, Jack and Victor) appear in, they rotate every day or every other day and take up 50-75% of the show time. And then the B stories which rotate through the other 40+ cast members. Jill/Colin/Cane has to wait for Nina/Ronan/Heather, Chloe/Kevin/Jana, Ashley/Tucker, Katherine/Murphy/Ester etc., etc., etc.,. Waiting so long makes the story lose momentum. Sometimes I think these side stories are over and am surprised when they pop up again. I don't remember Y&R being like this a couple years ago.

The problem is there's no interaction unless the people are in a relationship.

Heather & Rafe should totally be in Sharon/Adam's story, Chloe & Jana should be in Billy/Victoria's story, Jill & Diane should be in Ashley/Tucker's story, etc.

It's absolutely ridiculous that the same 15 or 16 people (Victor, Jack, Nick, Sharon, Adam, Victoria, Billy, Giggly Heffa, Abby, Daniel, Kevin, Heather, Nikki, Chloe, Jana Katherine) are on EVERY DAY leaving nothing for everyone else yet there's barely any progression (or non primary relationship interaction) in any of their stories.

Is there a show that doesn't have this problem? 'Cause this is exactly how ATWT was only on a bigger scale. That said, I don't think the main stories going now (Sharon/Adam, Daisy, etc or Billy/Vicki) are compelling.

    • Oh yeah, definitely! I actually like this storyline because it's very realistic and we are definitely starting to see the cracks in Ashley and Derek's relationship. I also like that they are finally starting to develop Ashley as a character and putting her in scenes with her mom Jan also helps a lot. I'm not so sure about Ashley and Andre as a couple though and I'm also still sort of on the fence about Andre/Dani too. Maybe if the writers continue to flesh out Ashley as a character and give her a real purpose outside of Derek and Jan I might eventually warm up to them as a couple if the writers actually intend for them to be a real thing long term. I'm not entirely convinced that Andre/Dani are in it for the long haul and I feel like they should have kept Andre as a womanizing lothario because at least he would have something of a personality.
    • One of the main traits of a Type A personality is ambition/competitiveness. That's not Ashley.
    • LOL - such a good point. They think it'll go over well and be glamorous and amazing, but sometimes it just ends up being cringe. This wedding so far is a little cringe. They have ducks walking around the hotel foyer and towards the camera, for heck's sake haha.
    • I was focused on 1995 Phillip. With only one child at that point, all he'd really have to rule is his harem of ex's. I'd have loved to watch Grant Aleksander and Rick Hearst go toe to toe, but he's on his way out and I doubt the writers would've ever let A-M best Phillip.  Yes, to someone like Kyle, but no to someone to horndog Reva or be an ineffectual six month villain. They really needed to invest in a Roger-type villain who was built to last. I don't know what it is about location shoots, but shows had a way of overplaying them. Just because you can swim the length of a real pool, or run in a literal field of flowers, etc...doesn't mean I have to see it in it's entirety. I just watched Mindy's wedding to Kurt, and Mindy must've walked a bleepin' mile between the carriage and the altar.
    • And it’s give me a Zzzzzzzz viewing experience!

    • They just aired a montage of Marcus and Dahlia swimming, with music playing in the background singing "Skin to Skin", for 4 MINUTES.  No joke or exaggeration. 4 minutes of them swimming at nighttime, no dialogue, just swimming.  WTF.
    • It's giving Ashley as "type A" personality, while Derek is giving "type B" personality, and they're clashing.

    • I remember my late mom express passionate love of the show (being that we're Irish Americans and how Johnny and Maeve Ryan reminded her of her grandfather)... and that she viewed Jillian and Mary as role models. When the show ran on SoapNet years ago, I remember watching the early episodes and having debates with my mom over how strident and militant the show was... especially in regards to feminist issues.  And how I found Mary to be a hypocrite (she's a reporter... yet can't suss out that her father and brother are both toxic and controlling)... and Jillian to not be quite a good role model (yes, she's a lawyer.. but she's happily waiting for Frank to divorce Delia and then after the divorce.. waits for him to win elections as she silently waits on the sidelines). My mom did admit that in retrospect, she did find the show to be a bit strident and explained that it was the 70s and feminism was a huge passion for her and others like her.   And that was when I learned to view soaps without a modern day lens... and eventually I did find enjoyment on the show (and their St Patrick's day celebrations were always a fun tradition).
