Most Long-Awaited Love Scene - Carrie/Austin, DAYS

Heh, no surprise there. I mean they were going to have sex on the night of the Titan party in 1993 but Carrie ended up being splashed in the face with acid and then broke up with Austin for an entire year. And since I missed a lot of episodes due to school (had no VCR at the time) every time I tuned in it seemed like Carrie and Austin were finally back together only for the scene to be revealed as a dream.

And then when they finally did get back together and were going to consumate at the ski lodge, Austin gets called away by Jennifer to drive her up to Laura's mental hospital (which was on fire) and Carrie almost got raped by Alan.

I tuned out of Days after that and didn't watch again until Marlena got possessed so I missed Carrie and Austin's first time and when I did watch the show again I always felt it was always kinda weird when Carrie and Austin had a love scene in the later years.

Carl I would like to know more about:

Best Wacko- Laura

Best Trend- may/december romance

Best Recast -Tina, Oltl ( I always heard bad reviews about this recast)

Dr. Laura Horton has all the credentials to be a bona fide nutcase: She spent 17 years vegetating in a sanitorium and was fed enough tranquilizers to render a great white shark catatonic.

Laura recovered, but something just wasn't quite right. (That spooky stare even gave her family the creeps.) WHen Peter decided to get rid of Laura by making it look like she'd gone off the deep end - again - he didn't have to work hard. He put toxic paint in Laura's office, gave her a strand of mood-altering pearls and voila - Psycho Revisited.

Jaime Lyn Bauer is having a field day portraying the unstable shrink. Yes, Laura's been victimized, but we're sure that the tide will turn. When she figures out that Peter gaslighted her, he'd better run. Hell hath no fury like a psycho scorned.

For too long, daytime had a double standard: Middle-aged heroes could woo twentysomething damsels, but let a lady over 40 so much as cast an eye at a younger guy and tongues wagged. No longer.

The groundbreaking duo was ANOTHER WORLD's Donna Love and Matt Cory. Sexy, smart and funny, this oh-so-compatible couple confronted the age issue head on. They ultimately decided that love conquers all.

GUIDING LIGHT's Vanessa Chamberlain assumed that her summer fling with a studly stranger was just a brief encounter. Was she wrong! Vanessa and Matt are keeping their relationship under cover - for now. And at ONE LIFE TO LIVE, Dorian Lord thought that sleeping with the son of her enemy, Victoria Lord, would be the best revenge. But Dorian didn't plan on falling for sweet Joey.

They say that turnabout is far play. We say: Let the trend continue.

Lightning may not strike twice in the same place, but sometimes brilliant casting does. A few years back, OLTL lucked out when Karen Witter replaced Andrea Evans as sex kitten Tina. Now the show has struck gold again with Krista Tesreau in the role. If you haven't caught her Barbie-doll-with-a-libido act, you should. Here's why: 1) Physically, she resembles Witter enough to make us believe she's Tina; 2) her brotherly sex romps with David are hot; 3) the scenes with ex-hubby Cord have chemistry; 4) this is Tesreau's third soap; she's never awkward on-camera; 5) she tosses off one-liners as easily as she tosses her hair; 6) if OLTL does more recasting, we can't wait for her to really start raising Cain.

SOD was being kind to Krista Tesreau. Krista is a good actress, as she proved on GL when she effortlessly returned in 2002 and in 2009, but she is also a very stylized actress. She is not Tina. And Malone, I honestly do not believe he ever got Tina -- even when Witter was in the role, there is some stuff in there which I do not believe Tina would do (like way too much of the wacky supernatural stuff, or having sex on a dirty warehouse floor). Tessreau seemed very awkward in the role and in scenes with Robin Strasser, and to a lesser degree, Erika Slezak, she was eaten alive. Not long after SOD wrote this, OLTL started slowly, and somewhat painfully, transitioning Tina to what amounted to little more than a bit part.

Most Boring Couple - John/Sharlene, AW

Were they EVER! I found them boring from jump though. Actually, while I LOVED David Forsyth as Hogan McCleary on SFT, he never really clicked for me on AW. On the other hand, I liked Anna Holbrook's Sharlene very much. I remember tuning back in for her return (as Kate) in 1993. IIRC, 94 was a rough year for AW.

Most Preposterous Plot - Janet's plastic surgery, AMC

But Robin Mattson sold the HELL out of it. I absolutely LOVED her as Janet, especially in the early years. Somehow, she always made you sympathize with Janet, a feat that Kate Collins never really accomplished IMO.

Best Wacko - Laura, DAYS

More like Most Annoying Wacko. I detested Jamie Lyn Bauer's wailing and whining and carrying on and constant sweating. After all that build up for Laura's return, JLB was a HUGE fail.

Best Triangle - Bo/Billie/Gina, DAYS

Agreed. It was pretty evenly matched until Reckell returned. I actually thought Robert Kelker-Kelly had chemistry with both ladies, probably moreso with Rinna, and was hands down a better actor than Peter Reckell ever was. Bo had a brain with RKK in the role, which he immediately lost when Reckell began playing the part again.

Worst Blind Person - Tony, DAYS

Yes he was annoying, but the Blind Tony storyline was beyond hilarious. I remember during the Salem blackout, John & Kristen were literally having sex on the floor of the DiMansion when Tony walked in with his cane and sunglasses. A shirtless John was in the room getting dressed while Tony had a conversation with Kristen!

Best Special Effect - Tornado, AMC

Not only were the special effects spectacular, but it propelled tons of story. AMC was SO good in 1994. Julia's scarred face is probably my favorite "beautiful woman gets a scar" storylines I ever had to sit through. And this is coming from someone who doesn't think Sydney Penny is beautiful, nor a good actress.

Most Long-Awaited Love Scene - Carrie/Austin, DAYS

OMG! We had to wait FOREVER for that to happen. It was worth it though. Muldoon was a hunk & had lots of chemistry with Christie Clark. Whereas Peck, IMO, always had more chemistry with Sweeney, but very little with Christie.

Best Recast - Tina (Krista Tesreau), OLTL

Who are they kidding? Tesreau was TERRIBLE as Tina. It didn't help that I LOVED Karen Witter in the part. The only thing Tesreau had going for her was her chemistry with Tuc Watkins, but, really, who doesn't have chemistry with Watkins? In SOD's defense, we didn't know that then. But, just, no. Tesreau sucked as Tina.

Most Dramatic Story - Jack and Keemo, Y&R

Most dramatic? More like coma-inducing. -_-

Most Contrived Conflict - Max's gambling, OLTL

I LOVED that storyline, largely in part because I always hated Luna & got some perverse pleasure from her pain. And Max & Blair's chemistry was red hot- that poker/sex scene- WOWZAS! Doubt that would fly today.

Best Scam - Vicky's baby switch, AW

Carl, will you write this one up please? I stopped watching AW for a while in 94 (switched to OLTL) and I have no idea what this storyline is/was.

Least Realistic Couple - Ashley/Blade, Y&R

Amen. No way would the luminous Brenda Epperson's Ashley have fallen for that dud. They should have put her with Brad- it was such a wasted opportunity. While Diamont has had chemistry with pretty much every actress he's ever been paired with, he never sizzled with them in quite the same way he did Epperson. They were the hotness.

Biggest Waste of Talent - Michael Sabatino, B&B

Double Amen. Anthony Armando was one of the worst, most forgettable characters ever to grace B&B. Even putting him in story with Sally Spectra didn't help- in fact, the always colorful Darlene Conley only seemed to make him more dull in comparison.

Vicky Harrison needed two things to keep her baby; a partner-in-crime and a spare baby. In six months, she had both.

Vicky located a baby in San Francisco, at her sister, Marley's, clinic. She found a partner in her ex-lover, Jake McKinnon. With Jake's help, she passed off the extra baby as her own son, Kirk, and temporarily handed Kirk (now Mark) to Jake and an unsuspecting Paulina.

The plan seemed brilliant to Vicky, who would do anything to keep Kirk away from the grasping clutches of his father, Grant Harrison. And the story was a clever way to explain the reappearance of Jensen Buchanan (Vicky), who'd left the show to have a baby of her own.

Keeping Kirk from Grant is wrong. But when Vicky begged Jake, "Don't let Grand hold his son. He doesn't deserve him," you saw her point.

Yeah, a mess. I wish Jensen Buchanan had stayed gone. I couldn't BELIEVE that AW moved heaven & earth to keep her when she left (I believe later than '94). I would have loved to have seen what a different actress could have done with Vicky and Marley.

We never saw it coming. We watched Maxie get sicker and sicker, but we hoped that a heart donor would be found and somehow, Felicia's little daughter would be saved. Felicia was keeping a tired vigil in the hospital - with Frisco! - while Bobbie and Tony were blithely sending daughter B.J. off to school.

Suddenly, everything changed. Tony found Bobbie kissing Damian and knocked him down a flight of stairs. Bobbei and Tony carried their furious argument out to the nurses' station, where a stunned Amy informed them that B.J. had just been brought into the emergency room: Her school bus had been hit by a drunk driver.

B.J. was brain dead. Tony went on automatic pilot and donated her heart immediately, asking the hospital not to tell his brother whose heart it was. In a heartbreaking series of scenes, Frisco and Felicia celebrated their daughter's second chance, while in another section of the hospital, Tony, Bobbie and Ruby were saying tearful goodbyes to B.J.

If there was one moment that crystalized this wrenching story, it was the sight of Felicia sinking to her knees in horror when she realized that the heart that had saved Maxie belonged to her own cousin. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

When it was over, Felicia, Frisco, Tony and Bobbie's lives were in shambles, B.J. was dead, Maxie was alive. As happens in real life, an unforeseen event had changed everything.

Wasn't it interesting to watch diligent Dr. Monica Quartermaine neglect her own health care? She felt the lump in her breast months ago, but she ignored it? When she finally went for a mammogram, it was too late. Monica underwent a mastectomy and repeated chemotherapy treatments, only to be told that another lump had appeared on the incision. Heavy sigh. Round two. It has been fascinating to watch the effect of cancer on Alan and Monica's marriage. For a duo who constantly played a game of one-upmanship, Monica's cancer has thrown them for a loop. Alan isn't sure how to comfort his wife, and Monica's having trouble letting him.

"Cancer is a funny thing," she explained ruefully to Alan. "You can't throw money at it in true Quartermaine fashion."

I don't think she was worth what AW supposedly did to keep her, either. I thought Jensen was really pretty, but she was my least favorite Vicky/Marley.

Cynthia Watros replaced Jensen for a couple of weeks (I think it was in 1998) and I thought she was awesome in the role.

I just hate that Ellen Wheeler would have come back and they weren't interested. I think she would have been great, perhaps more as Marley than Vicky, but to me Marley was the more interesting character anyway.

I would have loved Ellen back as both. I get what you are saying about Marley but it wasn't always that way, just that Vicky was so played out by then. There were so many layers of Marley left unexplored.
