Members Khan
Frankly, I wish I could wring Robert Harling's neck for coming up with such cornball, sentimental lines such as this. "Steel Magnolias," IMO, was a fantastic story ruined by some very bad dialogue.
Members Saving ATWT
Moore wanted to return to Y&R in addition to Criminal Minds. He said they never invited him back before the recast. This may have pertained to money issues--prime time actors cost a lot more than a washed up ex Family Matters alum. Eileen Fulton talked smack for her final give years on ATWT and, since she never got a scene, sort of counts.
Members Khan
Then, why bother being interviewed at all, Meg? If anything, refusing to speak to the press could create a irresistible aura and allure that only makes the fans love you more. Just ask Greta Garbo and Beverlee McKinsey. ;-)

Members J.W.S
I Just Dont Like It when Actors Look Down On Parts Of Their Career That Made It possible For Them To get Other roles Ok Daytime May Be Looked Down Upon By The Majority But There Is still a Big Number In That Minority That Loves Daytime Actors & Uses Them A Lot Aaron Spelling, Alan Ball, Joss Whedon, The Lost Dudes, David E Kelley Just To name A Few On TV Then You Have Tyler Perry, Rob Reiner who love soaps and have cast actors from daytime in their films
Members Paul Raven
Seeing the Tommy Lee Jones article Carl posted in the OLTL thread, reminded me that I think he was quite dismissive of his soap experience. Susan Sarandon on the other hand talked about it ,saying it was apositive exxperience for a young actress.
Members Khan
With some exceptions, it seems like those who speak more positively about their soap experience(s) tend to have more career longevity than those who don't. Just my observation, though, from reading this thread.
Members Mr. Vixen
Meg Ryan had about 14 minutes of fame. 30's a stretch, even speaking metaphorically.
Members Chris B
To clear up the Joan Collins stuff, I do believe they could've convinced her to stay if she was treated better. One of her requests was that she have a driver. They agreed to this and later reneged on it. I'm sorry, it's Joan Collins and because of what she could do for you show, she deserves a little special treatment. The reason she left after 3 months (not even completing her contract) is because the EP (Paul Rauch?) wouldn't work around her book tour and instead let her go to bring back Marj Dusay. The entire thing was a disaster because they didn't promote her and treated her like garbage. I recall reading an interview during Footballers Wives where she said "a big fat female producer" gave her hell. I'm assuming that was MADD. Members Khan
Exactly. I'm not saying I would have chosen JC to play Alexandra, but if you land someone like her, you might as well exploit her cache to help your show. I think so. Paul Rauch fought to get her on the show, but MADD, for whatever reason, was more ambivalent about her.
Members SFK
LMAO, I don't usually "condone" such insults, but only Joan. She cracks me up, she's so unapologetically politically incorrect, and I love it.
Members DaytimeFan
I think JC was miscast as Alexandra. That isn't the role she should have played...simply not the right part for her. She was faaaaaaaaaaabulous on the show mind you, but she didn't play Alex, nor was she written as Alex. She could have been written as a friend of Alex's or an old fling of Alan's...either way the context would have been better. Everyone at GL and P&G should have kissed the ground she walked on. JC got a segment on Entertainment Tonight to promote her appearance HERSELF, the bloody P&G publicity department didn't even bother. Paul Rauch liked working with JC and paid her handsomely for her work. She is fabulous personified. I just imagine her in a black suit with leopard coat, bursting into the restaurant at the Manhattan 4 Seasons with her arms full of shopping bags, eyes ablaze, bangles jangling, exclaiming insults however she likes! Members DRW50
I think by the time Joan came in, Alex was basically done as a character. I've said this before but as much as I don't think Marj was the best choice for Alex, I have to pity the woman for dealing with 11 years of consistently bad writing. That must be a record. Joan reinvented Alex for me, with a few of the basic Alex character traits still there, like her warmth, her humor, and her ability to sit down with the commoners and relax. I think she was the only one of the Alexes who could have just sat and had a beer with Buzz -- Marj/Justin worked well together but she was never quite that common, and Beverlee probably would have recoiled at this man.
