Amongst viewers and some of the soap press while they lauded Jeanne Cooper and were entertained, the common criticism of the story was the doppelganger part was a bit of stretch for a more reality based show like Y&R, quite similar to Brad in a cage the previous year. Of course no one in 1990 could predict twenty years later doppelgangers would become a dime a dozen and more ridiculous with the next one, that we'd see Katherine Chancellor in a landfill and co-piloting helicopters, or there would be death by volcano.

Yeah, it kept me entertained as well....I just wish I had all of September/October 1989-May 1990 so we could see the entire story and not just the chunks I have!!

Thanks. Yeah, I loved it and thought it was fun and entertaining. Cooper certainly seemed to be having a ball. I just became curious when someone on YouTube said it was "unpopular" with viewers and had to be wrapped up sooner than planned. I took it with a heavy dose of salt, but figured I'd check. Maybe it'd be different if we watched it unfold day by day.

I do like the occasional outlandish story though, and late 80s, early 90s Y&R served it nicely with Brad in the Cage and Katherine's kooky doppelganger. I feel they always found ways to ground the crazy stories like those, or Matt Clark's face-change and deliver them as realistically as possible.

What?? How did I not see this 😁😁 must watch later!!! I actually did skim to some of the Leanna/Victor scenes, and even though it was just fantasies, It’s fun to see that Leanna was the one person who made Victor squirm...(besides Eve Howard)

The Museum of Broadcasting Chicago has in the archive a screen test for Y&R featuring these performers

Baker, David L.
Cheyne, Hank
Diamont, Don
Dickson, Brenda
Eckholdt, Steven
Kayser, Allan J.
Wilson, Robert

I assume this was for Brad Carlton and they were testing with Brenda Dickson as Jill.

    • Welcome back, Shawn Douglas! It's been a while. It really is too bad that the writers don't really have an interest in the character because there are still a lot of ways that he can be used effectively on the canvas. He should have been a part of the 60th anniversary celebrations as well. If anything, just to represent Bo and Hope. And I'd much rather see Jada paired with him than possibly with Theo. But I enjoyed him getting caught up with Belle, and comforting her. I'm sure they'll find their way back to each other at some point but I do like them as divorced friends. I just hope we see it play out onscreen. Belle being a dick about Sami again was unnecessary though. And we finally saw Liam again!  I'm curious to see how this storyline is going to play out, and who's going to be weaved into it. He and Abe do work well together too. And we learned that he has a kid. Hopefully, we'll learn more about his character in the future. But I'm not really sure about Johnny and Chanel suddenly having problems with raising Trey. They've wanted a baby for so long, so I don't understand why this is even an issue. They should know by now what it's like to raise a baby. But I did enjoy Johnny's scenes with EJ, and that Johnny still hasn't refused to forgive him. This storyline was/is very clunky, but having the two of them be at odds is the right decision. There's so much story potential that can be drawn from that. As for Chad... there was no time for us to see his reunion with Will, but there's time for us to see him talking BS with Leo? I don't get it. And I don't get all this random dating app stuff either. Leo and Javi were boring af too. If we're forced to endure them, can they at least have some real conflict? The two of them losing the baby was the perfect opportunity for it.

    • I enjoy BF better on Days than on YR.   Chad is greater than Cane, in my opinion.
    • Ick! Seeing MS and BF making out as the characters onscreen was just ewwww.

    • That was the best part of Tuesday's episode.  Martin and Smitty and their family are boring.
    • Crew Morrow's acting on Tuesday's episode was just dreadful. The weird faces he was making were just awful
    • Creatively, he probably should have stayed with The Doctors, where he stood out as an antihero lead. Not sure what happened with GH. He didn't have the same impact. Was it bad writing, not clicking with co-stars? Didn't they gave him a boat load of money to join GH in 1976? Was Mark Dante just a toned-down version of Nick Bellini? Were they basically the same character?
