Now, that's the DAYS I wish were still around.  Simple, and yet very human.

Thank you @janea4old . For all the years off and on that I've watched DAYS there's been a certain tension to Maggie, even when she was just a '90s talk-to - there's a real sense of peace and freedom in this clip that I appreciate.

'70s soaps loved their singing at events. When it's sincere, it works.

Bill Bell always knew how to make it work. I wonder if he invented it?

Anyway, random fact I just figured out ... Jamie Martin Mann is the youngest male actor to be on the show as an adult (18+). Okay, back to talking about classic DAYS!

And maybe the youngest to come out! Glad for his success on Broadway.

Oh yeah, he knew exactly what he was doing when he bailed as soon as could. Hopefully, the same success finds Madelyn Kientz.

Never knew about all this. He must have really been great at golfing with Ken Corday to get past such a response.

Let's break this "scoop" down:

  1. He gives notice.
  2. They reduce Chis's time on screen, and don't give the character a proper goodbye.
  3. He's hurt, and thinks about suing for the times he wasn't on-screen, after he quit.
  4. Al Rabin, and probably his attorney, tell him that's not how contracts work
  5. So, he says that he won't sue.
  6. In response, Al Rabin calls him very professional.

It's all headline, no story.

Ultimately, the math just makes him look dumb.  If an actor was contracted to appear on 100 shows, and after filming 30 shows, he quits, the production isn't suddenly committed to film 70 more episodes before he leaves. It's not like PTO. That seems like basic knowledge.

When was this supposed to have been?

I didn't know that Chris was written out another time before 1987

He left late ‘81, returned mid ‘82. Coincidentally, Chris was off-screen during his brother Jake’s reign of terror as the Salem Strangler.

If he was being used 2 times a week when his guarantee was 3 then I think he would still be paid for the guarantee.

That's why we saw actors being shoved into scenes/episodes when they really didn't need to be, so they wouldn't be paid for not working.

In Josh's case maybe he was paid anyway but thought he was owed money b/c he wasn't on an average of 3 times a week?

It's confusing.

He quit, thus voiding his contract.  He did the classic dumb employee move of giving lots of notice.  But, once you quit, you have voided your contract.

His calculation is based on the number of episodes he should've expected if he stayed on contract.  But, he quit.

So, once again, the math analogy fits.  If you are contracted to work 50 hours, and you quit after 10 hours, and tell them you'll be leaving in 10 hours.  Your employer doesn't have to offer you 30 more hours before you leave.  That is not how the world works.

Thanks!

I guess JT got over his disappointment pretty quickly 😂😂

Now, I’m wondering how he felt in ‘87 when he didn’t even get written out. He just disappeared.

By that point he was on Valerie or Valerie's Family or whatever it was called by then.

In that case, maybe he was fine with it after all 😂
