Members jam6242
Thanks Jason! I thought I remembered Julie not knowing about Doug's real name until this time, but I wasn't sure. Good to see I remembered correctly. Addie knew because she had a private detective investigate his background.
Members JAS0N47
FROM THE VAULT: 45 YEARS AGO: JUNE 4, 1976: JULIE LEARNS THAT DOUG IS BRENT DOUGLAS! Please register in order to view this content Episode # 2656: Robert is a bit uptight with Doug when a messenger brings a special delivery letter to Doug's Place for Brent Douglas. Julie, of course, does not react, not yet knowing that Doug himself is the Brent Douglas from whom Kim is seeking a divorce. Kim walks into the scene and is a bit shaken, but covers when she sees Julie's flashy diamond engagement ring. Don is delighted to bring Doug the news that he and Kim have inherited a Polynesian island from Kim's mother. Knowing Julie is still in the dark, Don enjoys every minute of watching Doug squirm. Doug splits to get Kim, who is being consoled in the bar area by Robert. Doug is in a near state of shock when he hears from Kim that if they divorce prematurely, both of them will lose out on the inheritance, something she definitely does not intend to have happen. Realizing he's got to level with Julie now or else, he slams out of the bar area, leaving Kim and Don in their glory. Julie is absolutely staggered to hear the truth from Doug, that he is Brent Douglas and he is still legally married to Kim. Doug stands in state of shock as Julie returns his engagement ring and walks out. Robert walks in as she exits and realizing, stops Doug from going after her. He knows she needs time alone. Meanwhile, Don and Julie arrive at his apartment where he tries to comfort her when she breaks. Don suggests they go out for the evening to take her mind off her problems. Julie agrees although saying she wants to see Amanda first, but Don tells her there is nothing they can do for Amanda right now. Neil told him to tell Julie that Amanda will need all her friends later on, when she comes to. Kim arrives back at Doug's family room to find Robert. She tries to explain that she really does love Doug, but she will get a divorce as quickly as possible after the estate is settled. Robert reminds her that love means never giving pain intentionally, and she says maybe she is not capable of that kind of love, but she does love Doug as much as possible as she is capable of anyone but herself. At this point, Doug enters from the bar area, and Robert decides it is time for him to disappear. Doug is totally devastated and lets Kim know how he feels; and although Kim says that Julie will be back as soon as her anger is gone, Doug replies it will never be the same between them, even if she does. (Jason47 note: Things eventually work out, and Doug and Julie get married 4 months later on October 1, 1976. Hope you've all enjoyed this week-long look-back into the "Days" vault!!).

Members Paul Raven
Thanks Jason for sharing that. 9 sets seems a lot and not typical for that time. Wonder how that worked? I thought there was only room for a certain number of sets onstage at a time and they didn't like too many one off sets or daily changes as that meant extra expense erecting them etc
