What in God's name IS that song?  It makes Tuck & Patti sound like Ashford & Simpson.

It's a wonderful and haunting song about a gay guy that leaves his small town to find freedom to be himself in a bigger city.   Surprised that the show decided to play that during that particular scene with a hetero character.

My enthusiasm for ATWT had definitely waned by 1997 and this was the final nail in the coffin.  Such disrespect to Allyson Rice.

Yes, that was when the bit of hope I had for the new leadership went out the window, especially since they essentially said they just wanted to hire a friend from ABC. They just assumed ART had no fans, I suppose because she was not one of the big names in the cast.

With proper writing and the right actress, viewers may have moved on, but Susan Batten was about as nonsensical a choice as if they had hired Marla Adams.

This was also around the time Jeff Trachta's firing got protests outside their studio, so CBS Daytime viewers just seemed to be fed the [!@#$%^&*] up.

I'm convinced there was someone in the music department, or a production assistant, who decided, "You know what? I'm just going to let this happen."

@Mitch64, did you happen to be watching the episode when it first aired?

Emergenecy recast - in the middle of a scene!

From Allyson Rice to Susan Batten (Connor Walsh)

LMAO they didn't even bother to match the outfits. Not even the same color. When other soaps did the mid-scene switch, such as with the Babes on AMC or the hunky Jacks on Days, the recasts attempted to keep the same vibe to the character. Not the case here at all, which makes this even stranger.

.I don't remember this at all...I remember Marcy chasing after Kurt but not him returning any feelings...(I actually don't remember much about Kurt but him dating Frannie and supposed to be a "troubled rich boy" that Bob disapproved off, until Jay came to town (Oakdale had the cleanest cut bad boys ever...)

LOL on the cracks about Whit' rug!!! I loved when Eileen said she came back and stepped over "dead ole Whit!" to start things off...(I heard they didn't get along...) The show was getting pretty good going into Marland...Bob and Kim moving to each other, the real Lisa back and in the middle of a murder with her own family, (I liked this Lisa better then Marland's )  and Nancy and Chris on their way back.

Someone needs to post the courtroom scene of the maid admitting she bonked Whit on his ..wig..Eileen is channeling Joan Crawford and dressing like her and the scenes are campy and fun (soon to get the heave ho with Marland on his way.)

How did people feel about Cass Winthrop from Another world on atwt?

I really enjoyed him and thought he flowed very well on it. I wish he would’ve stuck longer than he did. I wonder why the actor ain’t on soaps anymore

I see what you mean. At least we have that wonderful promo of Eileen making such a dramatic face (not only did Whit die - the rug was ruined!).

🤣

I still just want episodes from that time to pop up again.

Out of place.

I think he served his purpose as a guest attorney at times, but he felt out of place. Plus, we had Jessica and Tom as the resident attorneys of Oakdale. Use them. Plus a logical writer would've exploited their ties to Margo, constantly having Margo in a predictament as her best friend is on one side of the law while husband is on the other.

Jake was the only AW character who assimilated well onto ATWT

Also, wasn't there are rumor that Irna intended to have the Hughes and Matthews be old friends? I know I read/heard that online somewhere.

I thought Cass was alright. I wouldn't have minded seeing him more often. He never quite felt like himself on ATWT but then he wouldn't.

I'm sure Stephen would work on soaps if asked. He's been on DAYS a few times this year and last year.

He and Jake took airtime away from veterans so they always felt like intruders
