I'd very much like to see that speech. Couldn't find it at a cursory search of 2001.

And it goes back to where I felt GH and other shows terribly dropped the ball not addressing real life during the active phase of the pandemic. That is part of the social contract that daytime in particular has with its audience. Agnes Nixon would've done it. (And Emmerdale in the UK did it very well)

It was a taped presentation after an episode, where Hastings (out of character, but come on, he's Dr. Bob) talked about them being filmed in New York area, praised the first responders, and said the cast, crew and PG were there for New York, and just gave a very calming presentation that...this too shall pass. I remember it was on a day that the PG soaps had prominent American flags displayed and I don't know if JVD had a speech on GL.

Your welcome..I remember being home and seeing it in real time. If only Ellen Parker was till on GL....a message from Maureen from the Bauer kitchen would have been very calming...(Reva just doesn't cut it when it comes to things like that...)

I saw that the 1978 ATWT which was only ever on Archive is now on Youtube.via a reuploader. I thought it would be fair of me to post the original link (you can find it on Youtube under Aug 2 1978 if you can't get Archive to work). I had forgotten they also have a 1980 episode up - I don't remember if I ever watched it. It's later into 1980 as Peter Reckell is around.

Thanks… I love these glimpses of Joyce. Very fascinating person wrestling with her insecurities… feels like someone real. Who can’t relate to not being invited to a party you want to go to?

There’s 4 minutes of Guiding Light at the end of the ‘78 ep. I recognize Mike and Elizabeth and Katie, but not the blonde guy in the suit or the two people at the very end.

I believe the blonde guy is Dean Blackford, at this point married to Sara McIntyre and Alan's lawyer in his divorce from Elizabeth. The other guy is probably Peter Chapman (who was falling in love with Holly) and his old girlfriend Maya.

Just to remind us that for all the praise heaped on the Dobson era, they had their duds.

Marrying Sara to Dean with no build up-she turned up married after a cruise and having him trying to kill her was a dead end for that character. Why not at least have her marry someone with a couple of kids to intro a new family and give Sara some relevance.

As for Peter and Maya, a whole lot of time was spent on new characters no one knew or were interested in. Peter managed to hang around for the length of his contract until Marland dropped him.
