September 29, 201015 yr Member While still way early, looks like once again CBS's biggest concern come May will be having too many hits and having to get rid of some of the "okay" performers to make room for new shows. NBC & ABC has got to be jealous of that when they can hardly even score one new hit...LOL

September 30, 201015 yr Member WOW, Glee is taking off. Bummed for Brothers & Sisters: the decrease in demographics is likely to be their death warrant... About those new "hit" shows on CBS: Hawaii 5-0 is very costly if I recall. So the numbers if they continue to got down might not be enough...
September 30, 201015 yr Member It was my last sitcom, too. I just did not get any sense of humor from comdedies in recnet years. 30 Rock and Modern Family brought me back last year (and I admit that I do watch Cougar Town for the silliness and it has gotten a lot better in the second half of season 1) and for Betty White's sake I took a glimpse at Hot In Cleveland. I still don't like any other old-fashioned multi-camera sitcom on TV these days; I've probably grown out of liking these, I don't know. the only sitcoms i have enjoyed in the past 8 years or so are Samantha Who?, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Melissa & Joey, and now Mike & Molly.
September 30, 201015 yr Member I have a problem witch Chuck Lorre's sitcoms usually. I find them awfully crass & repellant. However, I do like The Big Band Theory.
September 30, 201015 yr Member I have a problem witch Chuck Lorre's sitcoms usually. The only Chuck Lorre shows I liked were Grace Unde Fire but even moreso Cybill. His other stuff is extremely repellant, especially Charlie Sheen. @ Jack Peyton: totally forgot about Samantha Who. I did watch it and thought it was funny at times, but the scripts were mostly so-so. I only watched that show for the female leads, talk about great comedic actresses.

September 30, 201015 yr Member Correct. The humour is downright barbarous or, if not, dull & lifeless. Not that Will & Grace was an epic masterpiece of comedy writing, it wasn't, but tons better than much of the recent stuff. W&G at least had warmth (though in the third last and second last seasons I thought the humour got a bit too cartoony and sometimes even mean spirited--with a bit of a return to the old style for the last year). For some reason most multi camera sitcoms since seem to be offensive and worse, mean spirited, or else really dippy and lame "family" stuff (or sometimes an awkward mix of both). I can't think of one I can handle watching--sometimes Big Bang Theory I guess or maybe How I Met Your Mother but, not often... (and don't get me started on how loathsome I find Two and a Half Men...). Shows like Ab Fab have proven you CAN successfully do both--it's just the US, anyway, currently seems incapable of it. It's odd that, though I'm not a big fan of most, I still at least find more to like in the single camera comedies. I mean even a show like Party Down that had a lot of jokes they did to try to shock (helped out by them being on cable) yet at least the characters were endearing and there was something *there*. I really don't get that on any major current network sitcom. Chuck Lorre is definitely overated (I did kinda enjoy the war he had against Ent Weekly since they called him out repeatedly on how misogynistic Two Men especially was). I dunno, I found Dharma and Greg harmless (and at least at first it had an enjoyable cast)--Grace Under Fire early on was ok in its Roseanne ways (I give Alan Ball a lot of credit for crafting the better shows there though) and yeah Cybil in its AbFab wannabe ways could be enjoyable. But since then... (I only find Big Bang better than the current other two because of the cast really, nothing of Lorre's doing).
September 30, 201015 yr Member Bummed for Brothers & Sisters: the decrease in demographics is likely to be their death warrant... I woul dbe, but it's so frustrating--this is truly a case of them having nobody to blame but themselves. The "one year later" pilot was even worse than most of last year...
September 30, 201015 yr Member And it's all David Marshall Gran'ts fault. No Monica Owusu-Breen & Alison Schapker here. I'm glad, though, that craptastic "actress" VanCamp is leaving. She decimated this show. Edited September 30, 201015 yr by Sylph
September 30, 201015 yr Member Her romance with Justin was ill conceived from the start really. My only problem is the way she's being written out really doesn't feel true to her character--but then again the characters have been such a mess for so long now, who's to say, and if it means she's gone... And yeah, I'm not gonna make any excuses for Grant and his writing and plotting... (He was showrunner for most of the icky last year too...). He's a decent actor--he shoulda just stuck to that. September 30, 201015 yr Member Really, rebecca is the only thing that kept me watching after season 1. I wasnt big on EVC when she was on everwood either, but i loved her here. and Sylph, it could have been much worse... Roxy Olin.
