Members SFK
I still have a collarless striped linen shirt and vest like what John Ross is wearing in that clip. I found Tracy Scoggins a little distracting in J.R. Returns as she was so identified with Dynasty/The Colbys. It was like watching Charlene Tilton in a Dynasty movie. Members SFK
I know, right? I just don't know if those two can pull off believably and deliciously devilish like Larry can.
Members Soapsuds
You poor child.....LOL Umm....yeah Tracy was so out of place on the Dallas reunion movie.

Members SFK
Aw, poor Cliff. "My Mommy Likes Licorice" as the video title is cracking me up though.
Members Juliajms
That's setting the bar way too high. Larry and JR are an acting/character match made in heaven.
Members Juliajms
I think the problem is that in the original Dallas, they were pretty sure they were getting another season when they did their major cliffhangers. This time, the show didn't know it would be going on. So I thought they did a pretty good job of wrapping up the season and setting the stage for drama to come. IA, it's too bad they didn't go the bold route and leave things dangling, but if the show had been canned, I'd be cussing them out for that very thing. Members Soaplovers
I have to admit that I was expecting an edge of seat cliff-hanger but felt a little let down. While I think it was smart to tie Rebecca to the fabric of the show, I wouldn't have had her be Cliff's daughter... I would have had her be Katherine's daughter. It would have been awesome seeing Katherine coming off the airplane as opposed to Cliff. Plus, it would have been more believable having her daughter hook up with Bobby and Pam's son Christopher... she wouldnt have cared about the whole 'cousin' thing... her main focus would be to hurt the Ewings for 'causing' her pain. She could have blamed Bobby for turning her down... plus blame JR And Pam for being the reasons why Bobby wouldnt come to her. Plus, while it is good to have a woman being show runner... i dont think this particular woman is the right fit. From what I'm reading in interviews, it sounds like she is wanting to focus more on her creations then the original cast (i.e. cutting a lot of sue ellen scenes).. and I'm glad she realized that the first season shows were too plot focused.. but David Jacobs nicely pointed that out and I think it would have been nice to have him take over as show-runner.. or at least as a consultant. Members DaytimeFan
Cynthia Cidre is absolutely not right for the job. She can't write good soap. Her failure to utilise Linda Gray effectively said it all. David Jacobs could be a consultant, but he didn't focus on DALLAS in its first run either, he worked mostly on Knots Landing. Members Soapsuds
Finally watching the reunion movie "JR Returns" and the sets at Ewing Oil had changed as well. How I was use to the 80s sets. It is obvious the new Dallas is ignoring the reunion movies cause Christopher, who I flove in the movie, already had met Pamela(not Rebecca) and started a flirty friendship. Great to see Sly and Harve on the show as well.

Administrator Toups Posted August 18, 2012 Author Administrator Share Posted August 18, 2012 I stuck it out for this season, but I won't watch season 2. The characters, except JR, and the storylines just don't interest me. In the finale, I didn't like the way Chris found out about Rebecca. Chris enters the motel room just as the real Rebecca calls? "Who's this?" "It's your sister, Rebecca." Like she couldn't recognize it wasn't Tommy's voice? Come on! Also, Chris and Elena's reunion fell flat. It was suppose to be this grand thing - the two people who wanted to be with each other but couldn't.....and now they finally are together. Didn't do anything for me. The Ewings getting the upper hand on Vicente was boring. There was no drama in that.
