I don't think Metcalfe or Josh Henderson are capable of leading anything, other than the unemployment line. Henderson had the pivotal role in the first season and he tanked it, badly.

I disagree that Henderson has the chops to pull off leading the show. He doesn't. He's weak, and Julie Gonzalo acts circles around him as do the vets. He, Metcalfe, and Jordana are the weakest actors on the show

I can't wait to see TS & JVA... I remember I was sad to only see them in a handful of episodes but that was before I knew they had that other show they were a part of. Charlene always cracks me up saying Lucy never once went over to that show.

Texas' next gubernatorial election is 2014, although I assume they aren't dragging out until then.

Well it says 2012, so its obvious, this is about now. With the premire set for January 2013, it looks like Dallas will be taking place several months behing real time

If they were going to do an election story they should have timed it at a time when people were interested in the elections. Perhaps they could have spent some of the first season focusing on the run and then part of the cliffhanger would have been waiting for the returns.

That was her sister, Kristin (Christopher's biological mom). :) They SHOULD delve into that backstory a little, give Sue Ellen and Christopher a scene together where they touch on that. Not sure if that's ever happened in one of the reunion movies or not.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Gare and Val have been up to. If they do in fact share scenes with Lucy, that'll be such a trip after thirty damn years. I pray that they have something juicy to do, and since this show should remain Ewing-centric, the twins remain a valuable asset for future seasons just like Jack and Jamie in the original series.

I wonder though... how do you all feel about Dallas dipping into Knots' territory? It's probably safe to say that there won't be a Knots reboot, but does it bother anyone that the new Dallas would use characters established on Knots? Gary also has a daughter by Kate.

SFK when Sue Ellen was with Nicholas who fell out her balcony window, JR came to her condo and a fight ensued. It was during this fight when Nicholas fell to his death and Sue Ellen pumped JR full of lead (just like Kristin) and then called 911 and said she would like to report a break in and a murder.

Gary and Val is as far as it should go. The show is Dallas not Knots. I don't want Knots' domestic dramas and everyday characters like Karen. The show should not become a hybrid of the two.

Fair enough. You know, I can't shake this idea of them going to a very unexpected Dallas glam place with Val having grown accustomed to JVA's more recent roles. I'm sort of fascinated with this idea of Dallas Gary and Val vs. Knots Gary and Val, like Maude Florida Evans vs. Good Times Florida Evans. Don't get me wong, I'm sure they won't stray from the characters as we knew them on Knots, but this is a new EP and writer, and frankly, they could take these classic characters any number of ways whether that's wise/popular or not.

Looks like Audrey Landers is back as well :D

TNT's Dallas will reunite Lucy Ewing (Charlene Tilton) with her mom, Valene (Joan Van Ark), and father, Gary (Ted Shackelford), this spring. "I haven't been in a scene with Joan since my character's wedding [in 1981]," says Tilton, 53, who caught up with Van Ark at the Carousel of Hope diabetes fundraiser in Los Angeles on October 20. "Fans were always asking why I didn't cross over to Knots Landing" — the spin-off that featured Gary and Val.

Van Ark and Tilton are scheduled to shoot their scenes at the Southfork Ranch in January. "I'm so excited to revisit Valene," says Van Ark, 69, who has a feeling Val's marriage is on the rocks. "All I hope is that Val is successful and has become empowered, as they've done with Sue Ellen."

Exec producer Cynthia Cidre confirms that Shackelford will pop up as J.R. and Bobby's brother a couple episodes before Val and Lucy. "Gary comes because he is a third owner of the oil under Southfork," says Cidre. "Then Val comes for a big event. We have some really fun stuff with Gary and Val back together with J.R. and Sue Ellen."

Shackelford, 66, says he hopes Gary has remained sober but isn't opposed to a return to his philandering ways (with fellow recovered alcoholic Sue Ellen, perhaps?)."You have to have conflict or you have no drama," says the actor, who reports to the ranch in late November. "I'm looking forward to seeing all of them."

Besides Lucy, Cidre has no plans to re-introduce Gary and Val's other grown-up children, twins Bobby and Betsey, or any other Knots actors. "I'm already feeling a little squeezed by serving all the characters on our plate," says Cidre, who will welcome one more return: Audrey Landers will be back as Cliff's ex and Rebecca's mother, Afton Cooper, in the same episode where Van Ark and Shackelford reunite.
