Going back a ways, was there any particular reason why they had Vange and Layla's father be dead but they gave them an uncle played by a rather well-known actor instead? In other words, why weren't Janet and Hubert just cast as their parents? Was there a back from the dead story planned for the dad or something or was it simply a story choice? Just curious if anyone has more incite.

I actually enjoyed this storyline though it didnt last very long. We saw some great acting from Tika and Janet. I hope Tika Sumpter gets nominated for an emmy. Her scene last Tuesday with Janet and Evangelines will was just excellent!
