Y&R: Emmy winner leaving the show?

Hot Rumor: Is Kristoff St. John Leaving Y&R for the Wayans Brothers?

Kristoff St. John has played ‘The Young & The Restless’s‘ Neil Winters since 1991, winning an Emmy for the role in 2008. Is the actor tired of playing the buttoned down executive? Rumor has it that he is departing the show to take a role in a new comedy pilot produced by the Wayans Brothers. It is unclear at this time whether this would be a short term leave so he could film the project, or a permanent exit from Genoa City. Neil has not had a major storyline on Y&R for a while. The character’s romance with Ashley (Eileen Davidson) fizzled. But Julia Pace Mitchell has been cast in the new role of Sofia, Tucker’s CFO, a character who seems likely to be a potential love interest for Neil. St. John’s unexpected departure could alter the storyline. A spokesperson for ‘The Young & The Restless’ says that the show does not comment on rumors.

Well that is certainly shocking, if true, but I'm glad he left on his own terms if this is the case. Those Tyler Perry sitcoms show there is power in starring on a black cable sitcom these days. In a couple years if this show is successful he could cross over to films like Lamann Rucker and others did. Hmmm...

Here's an idea, let's get rid of the actual useless character's on this show, instead of someone like Kristoff, who's paid his dues with this show. Let's get rid of AH and a few others

No kiddin'. Sure, an army of people should be headed towards the lake, but Kristoff sucks.

So don't share your "ideas" with me anymore, thank you. dry.gif

Talk about a young and restless weekend! On the heels of speculation that Y&R may be losing one of its actors, Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby), we now have another rumor to tend to.

Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters, Y&R) posted on his Facebook the Daytime Confidential article from July 2010 about the rumor he was departing the show to pursue a comedy pilot. While we had heard nothing about for months, today we see more word from the actor himself.

"Its a rerun... But is still in the works. Just waiting!"

"Letcha know by spring!"

What do you think, friends? Do you think KSJ may leave the show, and if so, what will come of the Winters on Y&R? They are already not seen as it is! This could definitely be the final nail in the coffin.

He shouldn't bet the farm on just a pilot. That worked out well for Aaron Refvem and others who know how tough this business is.

He should just ask time off for the pilot, shoot it, keep his fingers crossed and if he lands the gig, get the f*ck out of Y&R and set himself up for at least four-five years of network/cable television work with this sitcom so he can bank off of DVD sales, residuals, cable/syndication reruns, etc(hopefully the pilot is SAG and not AFTRA).

No one should have to put up with working on a show that doesn't appreciate one's loyalty and contributions.

He will have no trouble getting out of his Y&R contract. 1.) He's black. 2.) He's old. and 3.) Don't forget, he's black.

Brilliant comment. And good for him, Y&R can get f*cked for how they've treated dedicated actors like him.

Susan Dansby is joining Y&R for a 6-week script writing trial with Y&R. Hopefully she can infuse some airtime and interest for the Winters.

I hope she does - I think she had some good work at ATWT - but considering that shameful state of diversity on that show in its last years, I'm not counting on it.

Coming soon:

Alfonso Ribeiro, of the "Fresh prince from Bel Air" fame, will replace Kristoff St. John as the new Neil Winters.

Kristoff is one of the most genuinely nice actors on that set. What a huge loss it would be, despite the fact that they don't utilize him.

Kristoff, move to Salem and meet a beautiful doctor named Lexie. Abe who?

Susan Dansby begins in February, her trail run I winder if it's going to last between Feb 1st through Feb 28th.

I guess we finally going to get that black storyline on & poppin this year in Feb.

Ya'll thought I was kidding when I said that the black storyline only going to be showcase in Black History Month.

I so don't understand the continous support of this show through viewership with so much disgruntled steady viewers. You're loyalties are spread very wide, I couldn't. I would be happy if KSJ gets to properly put his talents to use elsewehre that appreciates it much better than this show has.

Y&R won't fire Kristoff.

Especially now.

They will just keep him on the backburner until he decides to leave.

Yea I know they are all about PR these days more than anything else. Their PR department is probably run more diligently than anything else in or on this show and firing KSJ will contradict their defence of not caring about their AA demo
