AMC: New Bianca Cast!

Khan, have you seen this clip, it's so random, ATWT 1993. For some reason at about 8 or 8 and a half minutes into the clip Connor does her own version of Men on Film's "HATED IT."

Yeah, that was random. I think even Kelley Menighan-Hensley was surprised she did that.

Oh, so many good memories of what ATWT used to be. Back when people actually talked to, and not at, each other. Back when people actually cared what was going on in the lives of their loved ones.

Damn. Just...damn.

Thanks, Carl!

"Moral compass"? More like "patron saint." Regardless, it is crucial for Binks to be a continuing presence on the AMC canvas. Without her (and okay, Kendall, too), Erica is utterly adrift.

ABC.com has a new interview with Christina Bennett Lind. Sort of repetitive from her previous interviews, but theres some other stuff in there to. Can't wait to see David/Bianca scenes :D And I'm losing hope that Reese will come back.

Christina Bennett Lind Q&A

Starting June 15th, Bianca Montgomery is back on All My Children! Erica's youngest daughter - always known for her big heart and rational mind [a rarity in this town] -leaves behind her wife and kids in Paris to try to find her missing mom. This time around, Bianca will be played by daytime newcomer Christina Bennett Lind. We chatted with Christina about her time in Pine Valley thus far.

How is it going so far?

Christina: "[laughs] It's actually going really well. I mean, it all happened really quickly, when I found out and I came here [to Los Angeles], so I was worried it was going too fast for me -- but actually, I've been really lucky and privileged. Everyone in the cast and everyone at ABC has been so welcoming and generous, especially with their time and showing me around. And as far as working goes, just being open and ... showing me the ropes, as they say. There's been no hazing ritual, which is great."

Always a plus.

"It's just been absolutely amazing; like a dream. I keep thinking, when is something going to go wrong? It's just been so wonderful."

Talk about big changes. Not only are you starting a new job, but you moved across the country. You were a New York-based actress, right?

"Absolutely, yeah. Definitely a huge adjustment. It's a little bit of a different culture here, but I'm just sort of not thinking of that too too much right now because I just jumped right into working. Which is what I've been focused on. Yeah, it's kind of crazy and kind of big."

And hopefully exciting.

"Yeah!"

How is it working on a daytime show? How are you liking the pace and energy of it?

"I mentioned in an interview at some point, maybe last week or so, that the material itself -- at [that] point, I hadn't worked yet, so I was sort of just reading the material and doing some research -- I thought that some of the circumstances feel very Greek to me, like Greek theatre, classical theatre. That's my background, mostly in theatre -- so my experience with the material, just reading it ... it's like such extreme, such heightened circumstances [and] emotions. All the stakes are really high.

So that was really exciting to jump into. And then once I started working, I actually found [that] there's sort of a theatrical element -- at least in the pace. You go with your first impulse, and because it's so fast, you don't have time to second guess yourself or be afraid of it -- and that's sort of the best side of theatre I think. You know, that kind of live aspect? The fact that they're editing while they're taping [and such].

And it's pretty incredible, obviously -- the machine behind it all. That's what I found so far -- that actually, my reference in theatre is a lot more helpful than I thought it would be. And I have done a little bit of television work, but more than anything, I feel that the actors -- because they work so quickly, and with such heightened material -- that they're very open. And everyone so far has been the same in that way -- waiting to see what you'll give them. And then they take it and use it, [which is] kind of amazing."

We've heard people say it's like a play a day. "Yes ... that's definitely how it feels. It's like a stumble-through of a play, without ... room for error -- and then you move on to the next one."

Just with some cameras involved!

"It really is ... that camera thing."

Coming into this, were you familiar with All My Children or the character Bianca? Or was it a discovery process as you joined the cast?

"When I first sent my material on tape for the [job] ... I think at that point she wasn't even named Bianca [in the audition notice] because ... they didn't want to let the cat out of the bag of what they were auditioning for. But once I got cast, I realized this is what I was going for. I did research, and of course I recognized [bianca]. I knew a little bit of the storylines. I was a General Hospital watcher!"

Ooh, excellent.

"So I knew enough ... I recognized so many of [the characters], and then [my research into] Bianca was -- well, I was more than thrilled to be playing such a rich character.

She's ... amazing. I kind of fell in love with her right away"

Susan Lucci [Erica] must've been a recognizable face to you. How is it working with her?

"That's been the most exciting part of this. I mean, I sort of saw her when I was testing, but [then] by the second or third day I was shooting with her. And at first I thought she was incredibly intimidating because she's such a pro. I almost expected her to just do her thing, you know, and be out there ... be wonderful and then ... get off set. But she was so amazing in that she is so professional, and so committed, and sticks to her character. Every time a line, one small line doesn't make sense to her, she makes sure she clears it up -- and she's just so open and ready to have her daughter back too, I think. I have had only wonderful things to say about her -- and she's stunning.

I mean, she always looks really beautiful on screen but wow ... she's just scary beautiful. She's got this great presence. So yeah, that's been a real joy too."

You get to work with one of daytime's biggest stars -- and also a character that has been a landmark one, not only in daytime but in all of television. That must be really cool.

"It's like learning from the -- I don't know, [like] learning about the Bible from the Pope. You know, sort of going right to the top. It's just amazing ... learning from [susan]."

Now, can you tell us a little about what brings Bianca back to town?

"She's basically coming to find her mom. I mean, [Erica's] missing -- and [no one] really wants to give Bianca a straight answer. And I think, she needs to be back in Pine Valley to really talk to everybody and find out what's going on.

She goes back to her suspicions that someone she knows might be hiding some information -- or just not being as vocal about the details. So she goes immediately back to Fusion to talk to Greenlee. For the first three episodes or so, I [as Bianca] really get to talk to a lot of the characters in Pine Valley. I get to really ... mess around and check in with everyone, and see what they know.

But it's all just to find [Erica, to] make sure out if she's OK -- and figure out if there's any business I need to get worry about."

And last time the audience saw Bianca, she had gone up to Europe with her wife Reese and her two daughters. Does she come back with Reese and Miranda and Gabrielle, or is she flying solo to find her mom?

"She's flying solo. Reese is taking care of the kids [in Paris]. [bianca's scared] there's something wrong with Mom, but mostly [she wants] to find her. I [as Bianca] know she's resilient. I'm optimistic she'll be OK, but I'm scared and I think I didn't want to bring the kids with me on that journey, because I wasn't quite sure how long it would be ... and obviously they're emotional. So they're back in Paris."

As soon as one gets to Pine Valley, nothing is ever easy.

"No, it never quite works out the way you want it to."

That's crazy that you were a General Hospital viewer before entering into the ABC Daytime family. Were there any characters you were really into when you watched GH?

"When I was watching it, I loved Liz and Lucky. They were like my Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio [in Titanic]. They were like the beautiful lovers. And Sonny, he was always like the most amazing [bad boy].

I have an attachment to the characters that I knew when I watched it -- but since it's been a while, I'm sure there's a lot of great new people too. Michael, the poor kid who's always tossed around. [laughs]"

Yeah, now he's an adult that gets tossed around. So you spoke a little about working with Susan Lucci ... Have there been any other characters or actors you've shared scenes with that you're really looking forward to working with more frequently?

"I have a special connection with Cameron and Rebecca -- Ryan and Greenlee -- because they ... stayed on when we came to test; there were five of us. They stayed late, and Rebecca had to go -- but she still stayed late, and did the test with us. They were tired; I don't think they had to do that.

So I had a chance to do some really nice things with them -- one [scene] with Ryan that was in the past, and one with Greenlee that was actually one of the first things we shot. It's been really amazing working with them because I feel like they've sort of been on my side since they met me, and ... trying to get the best out of me. I feel that they're very open. It's amazing to work with a scene partner that you can really trust.

Even if I haven't known them that long, there's a certain energy that both of them share. It's no wonder [Ryan and Greenlee are] always in love with each other. They have a very similar vibe as people -- so that chemistry [is great]; I really love that give and take with them, I'd love to keep working with them. I'm sure I will. Susan's been wonderful, and I love David -- [Vincent] is great. We get to do a lot of mean stuff with each other, which is sort of fun, just to ... battle a bit."

He and Bianca have a great history together -- oscillating between getting along wonderfully and fighting. So that always makes for good drama.

"Love and hate!"

Thank you, Christina!

Never seen someone so happy to be on a soap in a longtime!

I agree Reese isn't coming back. IMO killing her off would be better than an off screen breakup!

Other than helping steal her baby David has never been mean to Binks and she's alweays been cival to him.

She seems like a sweet girl. I don't see her choosing to stick around for long, but who knows. I hope she does well.

I bet they [!@#$%^&*] on themselves when they realized they could ask a GH question without making it look out of place.

Yes I can see a love/hate thing on Bink's part but not on David's. And soaps are the only place where saying "Other than helping steal her baby David has never been mean to Binks" makes sense lol.

David and Bianca have a love/hate relationship? Since when? Ugh. I already know I'm not going to like this. There is nothing, and no love, that is ever going to convince me that David would do something to deliberately hurt Bianca. No way. No how.

When it comes to Erica and David, okay, there's some breathing room. But David and Bianca? Sorry, ain't gonna buy it.

I agree. Bianca is not always consistent in her feelings towards him but David has always had a soft spot for her. I've never seen any hate on his part.

I guess that's what the love of a good woman does to a man. Man, David is really being set up to lose massively when he loses Greenlee. Until this Bianca stuff, I felt for him. Now, I hope the Wrath of Kane shows him no mercy.

I must say, I can't remember the last time (if ever) I was this excited to see what a recast actor was going to bring to a role. I hate to say such silly things, but there's a certain energy I get just from the pictures that I find interesting. I guess we'll see...
