Ugh, been busy busy busy at work, but wanted to echo or give my lil' take on SLC...

Mary Cosby continues to be the bitter Greek chorus of Utah and I love it... I know she's a hypocrite, but I still find Heather Gay entertaining... Lisa is Lisa; she's a necessary evil like a Tamra... I did so enjoy the pile up against Little Girl (I can't with her anymore), which actually kinda felt organic in that everyone started adding in their own two cents on the subject.

@Cat used the magic word I thought of while watching the show... very performative, with the worst offenders being Angie and the newbie. For me, everything Angie does falls flat. You can just tell everything she does is for the cameras. She could never make it as an actress. The scroll? Gurl, bye. The new girl's costumes were indeed costumes. Just stop. Halloween only falls on the calendar once a year.

I do think some of Meredith's gripes against Whitney were weak when it comes to the line of products they each sell, but overall, I'm Team Meredith and her bathtub. I'll be interested in seeing the fallout between her and Mary, since Mary was seemingly the one constant friendship in a sea of ever-changing alliances on this show.

Heather played it all wrong when it came to Emily and her emotional response about the clothes when, in the Talking Head Interview, she said the dress was "tight" on Emily.

Emily was not really blaming Heather. She was having a 'relatable moment' about her body and how she was feeling. Alexis, idiot that she is, didn't realize Emily was giving her a compliment and putting herself down when she said it was tough being in the same dress as size 2 Alexis.

Tamra is super awful and she miscalculated the audience's reaction to Shannon and her DUI. She thought she would go hard on Shannon and be respected for it...but Tamra just comes across as an evil bitch who is wholly disingenuous.

Shannon, on the other hand, has let it all hang out, yet again, and the audience will always root for that.

Jenn Pedranti is like an original OC housewife - financially a mess, incapable of being an adult, and struggling to parent children. Now that she's also got a boyfriend cooperating with the FBI, she's going to reach icon status.

OC

I guess great minds think alike. lol. I know I've mentioned that I'm a season behind everyone else, but in between my work schedule, I have begun the Tamra Returns season!!! And so far, I'm enjoying it.

OC has always been easy and breezy since you all got me into it on a regular basis. And three episodes into Season 17 so far...I feel the following...

TAMRA. She's having a surprisingly good return season so far. Tamra ain't anything if she is not stirring the pot. Watching her try to start a feud/payback with Shannon has been hilarious so far because Shannon is not at all rising to the bait. And even Tamra trying to get backup in Frick and Frack Emily and Gina has backfired on her so far because Shannon has been playing her cards right, knowing that Tamra is coming for her for a storyline. Meanwhile, I have loved getting an update about her life with Cut closing, her mother being around, and Ryan going back to being fugly. She has good tension with both Emily and Heather in case she wants to start another feud when/if she gives up on Shannon. And also she brought us the new Housewife Jen into the mix where she already has drama in knowing the timeline of Jenn's divorce and new relationship with NewHottieRyan.

HEATHER. So far, so rich. I admit that I was shocked to see Max filming since I vaguely remember post-Season 16, wasn't there stories about Max not wanting to film anymore with Heather due to how the audience felt about her story? That said...she's giving Rich Housewife and it looks like she is about to have some drama with Taylor from RHOBH.

EMILY. So far, she's been surprisingly low-key. From what I remember, her and Gina were the MAIN pot-stirrers with Tamra gone. I suspect that is really why there is some undercurrent tension between her and Tamra. The HBIC is back, and Emily is just a pretender to the throne so she better tread lightly...especially if she has ANY secrets. Outside of that and some low-key pot stirring in this last episode...Emily's been boring even when she's showing her family.

GINA. GIRL, BYE. lol. There is always one in every Housewife show. And for me (and I think you all know I was rooting for her after her glowup reunion look S15), I feel it's Gina. Just ugh. I can give her credit because outside of Tamra...she's been the REAL pot-stirrer so far. Befriending Jen only to get the tea on her. And now she saw that video and tried to start drama between Jen and Tamra. Even when Heather told her to drop it. And talking about Shannon behind her back? She is going to be messy. I can feel it.

SHANNON. She has started off this season pretty decent. It is weird seeing her with John knowing what's coming. And her at the boat party interrupting Jen's story about her son....MESS!!!! Shannon is going to Shannon so it was great to see that no matter how much Tamra keeps trying to start for her, she's really kept herself out of the fray so now Tamra has no choice, but to take accountability if she wants to be friends with Shannon again.

JEN. One thing that OC has done and does well is introducing new AND interesting housewives. And Jen is in that mode. Married under mysterious circumstances. A relatable story as a woman starting again. Not to mention the story about adopting. And so far...she has been transparent. And also? Not afraid to mix it up as soon as Gina threw that bombshell out at the Cut Close Party, Jen maneuvered very well through that. And it's clear there is still more to tell with Jen and Ryan so welcome, Jen.

But that's what I think so far.

    • It is an insult. To the viewer's intelligence. Everything in this show in the past 4 years has been horribly conceived, produced like a cheap tik-tok video, without any build up or psychological reasoning, and then re-written to level 0 in couple of weeks (where everything is ABSOLUTELY the same as it was before it happened). People get gravely sick and then recover in 5 episodes, because of miracle cures. People get killed and un-killed in the most cartoonish Scooby-Doo scenarios, people get pardoned after killing 2 innocent victims, people become and unbecome CEOs with the snap of a finger. But when you look around in a month or two or three... it's like absolutely nothing has happened. Nobody has grown... or evolved... or changed. We still have Steffy talking to Ridge how Hope and her mother are not worthy. We still have Brooke crying about something that Ridge said. We still have Hope at the same emotional limbo she's been put in ever since Brad decided she needs a re-vamp and made her a ho. EVERYTHING IS THE SAME. Only the Taylors change every few seasons and become increasingly younger. The problem I have with Liam's storyline is the problem I have with every storyline - why should I care if he is dying or sick with cancer when I haven't seen him in 2 years?!! Why go from 0 to a 100 like that. The same way with Sheila... who was backburned for months... before getting fake-killed for ratings. Why would we care about that... when Sheila was a non-entity before that.  Or why should I care for Brooke... when she's been ABSOLUTELY NOTHING of a character for years... to now all of a sudden re-birthed into a lingerie queen and CEO?   Back in the day, we... the viewers of this horrible show... cared and loved to see characters struggle from point A to point B. We wanted to see the build up, the makings of something. Not get a finished result that is undone after a week or two. When Brooke became CEO in 1993... we cheered because it mattered and because she gave HER ALL to get to that point. It was a revenge after years and years of abuse, being slapped around like a homeless dog by Stephanie. She plotted and calculated her every move. But she was also raw and hurt. She was both opportunist and a heroine. She had dept and dimensions. THAT WAS A CHARACTER. That was a human being.   My diagnosis is that at this point Bradley Bell doesn't care. Bold is living off of past history, fans being loyal, the show being 18 minutes of crap that people watch to laugh at. He sees the ratings are still okay and even improving and he DOES NOT GIVE A S-IT. He is even more motivated to continue with the current style of trash. It will only get worse from this day on.  He is way pass the period where he wanted to tell stories or impress the viewers with anything. (Not that he was particularly good about that anyways) I would not even be surprised if he is writing this drivel on complete auto-pilot at this point. Maybe he asks Chat GPT what to write each week. That's how it feels. IF IT'S THE OPPOSITE... and he is trying and that's the BEST HE CAN DO?!!! Then we are really f-cked.  Even Bradley Bell was NOT THAT HORRIBLE guys. But times change and people age... and that's all I'm going to say.
    • -- Really good episode today, with a lot more happening than I expected. -- SilkPress is great, but I don't see the need to criticize Dani/KM when supporting Leslie. -- That being said, I don't like Dani with Andre. I think they should end that as soon as possible. -- Very lame that Vanessa and Doug weren't there. If they want to impress on us that Vanessa is Nicole's best friend, they need to do better. -- Brandon Claybon continues to improve as Martin, and his relationship with Smitty finally feels real. -- Dr. Carlton is, as others have posted, fine as fck. We need more.
    • As much as I have hyped the looks on this show, those dresses did not impress today. Since the premeire, there's only been one look that I can truly say IMO didn't work (and it honestly wasn't even that bad). It was an outfit Dani wore. These flowly wide leg trousers and it was paired with a loose top with a cowl neck. However, I didn't LOVE a single dress on any of the ladies today. Kat's was great only because it suits the character and her personality - so an A for that. It's a good dress. Dana's was also really nice. Everyone else either just was meh, had something unflattering about the fit, or didn't really fit the vibe.  Also, this isn't BTG's fault. It's just the state of soap operas today, but that event felt empty. Tables of 3

I mean it was nice that they had some extras on there, but it definitely didn't feel like an event when the family was pretty much ever table there.  That was a nice end to the episode and I wonder how this is going to unfold.
    • I was looking at the AWHP synopses from the period where Quinn had a stalker in 1984 and it refers to pranks and phone calls. Does anybody remember what the pranks were? Or were they just disturbing phone calls?
    • Same. Things were really coming together the last moment of the show. I wish we had more time with it.
    • Exactly when did Ada's kitchen become the "centerpiece of the action"? And which set was the centerpiece of the action before that???    Another World premiered in 1963, and Ada didn't even arrive until 1967.  And then, Ada and Rachel lived in a small apartment.  A couple of years later, Ada married Ernie Downs and moved into his house. So the kitchen so identified with Ada, was actually in the house Ada inherited from her husband Ernie after he died.   I'd suggest Ada's kitchen did not become the centerpiece of the action (if it ever was) until around the time Mary Matthews died, and Rachel began her romance with her second millionaire husband, MacKenzie Cory.  Others might disagree, but that doesn't offend me in the least.
    • The last scene of the final episode did show that life on Wisteria Lane would continue on once the toxic housewives moved away. It won't be as good as the original, but I'm intrigued to see what these new people do with the concept.
    • This underscores the biggest issue that the show needs to work on.   The majority of the characters on the show are all related to one another, which is why we have that B&B esque Dani/Andre hook up situation

    • It was a good episode. I didn't expect things to unravel so soon.   One thing I still don't like about these big events: Where was everyone else?   This is a big event. Everyone should've been there.
