BET is bringing the show back from the dead with new episodes :D

Good news for fans of The CW's canceled sitcom "The Game"! BET has reportedly inked a deal with Paramount to produce fresh episodes of the show nearly a year after its cancellation.

"The Game" featured a cast led by Tia Mowry, Brittany Daniel, and Wendy Raquel Robinson as, respectively, the girlfriend, wife, and mother of three professional football players in San Diego.

The show, a spin-off of "Girlfriends," ran for three seasons on The CW. The network canceled the series in 2009 when it failed to bring in regular viewers in its Friday night time slot.

BET picked up the series for syndication and chose to develop new episodes after the reruns found a fresh audience on the network. Currently, BET is in negotiations with the actors, whose contracts with "The Game" expired.

It was recently announced that Coby Bell, who played football star Jason Pitts on "The Game," will be joining the cast of USA's "Burn Notice." According to BV Buzz, Bell will likely return to "The Game" as a recurring guest star in order to accommodate his "Burn Notice" schedule

I heard reruns of "The Game" on BET were even beating new episodes of Melrose Place.

Not surprised that BET wants to capitalize on this while the buzz is still white hot.

:o

I love this show. So happy new episodes are coming.

me too. I wonder how they will retool it. Will it still be a comedy or more of a dramedy, which it formed into for the series finale? It could go either way and I would be fine with both

I wonder if they'll do recasts or just revamp the cast because Pooch Hall has a show on CBS and Coby Bell has a show on USA. I doubt they'd want to return, even if Pooch's show gets canceled which is a possibility.

Love this show. Closest we will get to a black soap.
Tell me about it. Loved the show and all its drama. One of my favorite scenes was the season 1 finale/season 2 premiere when Melanie found out about Derwin's affair. That was pure soap

He only has a recurring role on that show. It would be a big loss if they cant get him back since he was the main lead but I would hope that he'd return for at least a few episodes to write him out. If not, maybe a recast would be necesary

I dont think Coby Bell is needed. Jason was on the older side and close to retirement. Considering that he and Kelly divorced, he's easily expendable. Plus I found the Pitts and their story to be a bit played out. Kelly can go too.

Tasha needs to stay. Malik, Derwin, and Melanie are the other essentials. I loved the prospect of Tasha starting her own record label and they can brnig back Malik's sister and Rick Fox. Bump up Dion, Dewin's old publicist, and have Janae pair up with Malik, and that could be a good cast. They can bring on a new player to stir things up.

I wonder if this will be the original sitcom or the proposed 'dramedy' format that the last season finale took the form of. Either way, I'm excited!
