I adored those scenes between Kyle and Layla today. Tika and Brett really did a wonderful job in them.

Today's ending...truly one for the history books IMO. Just classic soap. Overall I found the scenes at the vineyard leading up to the ending amazing. That is how you do a cliffhanger. I'm so excited!

The Jessica-Nash-Mitch stuff was the only interesting (although simultaneously gruesome and offensive) part of the episode.

The Schuyler/Gigi, Layla/Cristian/Fish/Kyle, Rex/Corrine, John/Brody parts were all slipshod and dull.

I loved that corpse - Tom Savini would be proud! I couldn't believe they showed that OR that it was so surprisingly gruesome and well-done. OLTL is really breaking the rules. But I also sensed a slap at Forbes March for his consistent diva behavior re: the show. Which, hey, he asked for it. The British soaps do far worse to their cast members just for coughing out of turn.

FM gave several interviews bitching about the show, and I felt his comments about John Brotherton and then Bree in these last two were particularly petty. He had some valid complaints about the show's treatment of Nash, but he got a bit too personal. If this was Eastenders, for that offense they would've dug Nash up, had him prowl the streets doing the "Thriller" dance, and posthumously unmasked him as a con man with three different wives, one being an eight year old Thai hooker.

I need a screencap of that. I've found my avatar.

I don't know what the [!@#$%^&*] she did but Fath has taken every ounce of talent JPL has ever had and flushed it down the toilet. Where's the JPL who had heartbreaking yet subtle scenes when breaking up with Adrianna where the HELL is the JPL that proved he was one of the best finds of the DECADE when finding Jen's dead body in the parking garage. Where? WHERE?

God, I wish they weren't wasting Scott Clifton on Farah Fath. He is much to talented to be saddled with her. However, if today's scenes were played by a talented actress, I probably would have been near tears for Gigi today. As for the writing, RC has RUINED Rex. He shouldn't be so goddamn morally superior. That is NOT Rex.

Everything else was great stuff, except for John of course.

Also, I was so happy Layla said Fish's shirt was fugly. I was thinking the same thing the second he walked out. Then he changed and ... YUM. Kish fan here.

I am very ready for Mitch to cause some crazy [!@#$%^&*]. But I'm still PISSED

A terrible and unforgivable mistake.

Ha! Thanks for the info. Yeah, you know, this is America and all, but in the soap world, I feel like you've got to earn your right to be so openly critical. And even when you've earned it, what you say will most likely not result in change, but in bitterness and blacklisting. Not that it isn't refreshing to hear people speak out about what's not working behind the scenes on soaps, but for the sake of your career, you've got to carefully examine your motives and watch what comes out of your mouth.

I think Rachel is too much woman for Schuy, I'd rather see him ground Gigi.

I thought those Sky/Gigi scenes were actually very well-written and well-done when they talked about Gigi's long-held insecurities. And they really drove home the point that Sky can give her what she needs.

Great reveal on Mitch, but I don't buy that John would've figured it out from out of nowhere today. He hadn't discussed other suspects at all before, he's never mentioned Mitch, he never met the man, and he's been dead for years.

    • I found it to be a rather odd way to deal with a character departing for parts unknown.

Luckily, EJ and Johnny, and pretty much every other character saved today’s episode.  I didn’t expect Javi to be the one to save Sarah though, and I don’t mind it at all, because if it means that Javi is finally going to get his own identity/character, away from his douchy bf, I’m all for it. Javi’s scenes would’ve been a lot better had it not been for him. EJ and Johnny were the best part of today. Their conversation hit a lot of important beats and I’m so looking forward to seeing them play out. And now that EJ knows that Johnny is going to work for Xander, that opens up another dynamic to their storyline and to the Kiriakis family storylines as well. Tying them all together could be really good. There are so many story possibilities that can come out of this. And I thought Carson Boatman did a pretty good job again too.  I also liked that Johnny was there to comfort Chanel after everything that happened with Sarah. They’re so good together. But I do have mixed feelings about Chanel possibly forgiving Johnny so quickly. Hopefully, the question that she asked him at the end of today leads to more conflict for the two of them.  And yeah, still no changes in Alex’s character lol
    • Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to grab this episode. I had a quick review of your rip because I was curious why it was 700MB and 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the episode is 3169 (opening credits at 5 minutes and again at 15 minutes). I thought we had the full HD version of ep.3170 on the YouTube channel, but it appears they added the wrong episode but labelled it 3170.
    • I guess, according to Mike Manning in the Michael Fairman chat, he was almost Derek

    • Well, since I'm still up unexpected past my growing-into-it bedtime. lol.   I finally got to rewatch Monday's. I even rewatched Friday's to take it all in. Now that we got the reveal and hit the climax of the SilkPress Sheila storyline, now we get to watch the aftermath and/or turns that come with its climax. So far, so good. Friday left us with three cliffhangers. And what I found surprising was how I felt about them over a rewatch.    I know some of you all felt a way about the dialogue during Kat vs Eva. I remember liking it more the first time around and it was nice for them to have these scenes to establish more of a frenemy vibe for them going forward. That still held up. But I found myself agreeing with you all about that dialogue. lol. Still, it was nice to have both of their POVs.   Second up was Silk Press Sheila vs the Duprees. And I was happy to get a brief spat with Dani in there. But the rest standouts for me was Anita and Martin. Haters can hate and given the tail end of the episode, I will agree to a fault, but Brandon has impressed and he was on fire on Monday and had great subtle work on Friday. And that subtle work made it all the better. Like I believe I said when I was watching...BC has a much better grip on his character and seems to be realizing what his tics are so has started to be able to know when to turn it up and when to dial it down. And for the most part (emphasis on most), he got that. Meanwhile, TT was giving fierceness, and I was here for every minute of it. Her reading SilkPress. Her being quip about it. Her 'BE STILL.' Ooooo she had a chokehold on me as Anita gave what I was expecting her to SilkPress. WORTH THE WAIT. I also loved Vernon's CHOOSE SILENCE. I wonder though if SilkPress will figure out Martin's condition from her observing Anita and Vernon with him.   And speaking of worth it...Oooo YES Nicole vs Ted was worth totally worth it. Oooooo I knew DD would nail it, and it was all so well done. The fight between the part of Nicole who is a therapist vs Nicole as a woman who wants to express how she feels. And being so angry. And how there would be moments when it would shoot out of her. And how she would restrain herself. But how she felt she should not be restrain. Just the levels of processing and layers. And DD played it all so well. I do wish Maurice gave just a little bit more, but overall, I thought he did a good job even if it was just Ted coming across as a deadbeat and not at all redeemable. And Kat being there for her mother was so beautiful.   Minority, but I love the montage though yes, it did run a little long. Given how the Duprees like to bond (and also as I mentioned from my own very recent family experiences), it did not seem out of place to me.     That said...let's see how the aftermath worked in today's episode. Overall. Cuz RC can be hit or miss.
    • I wonder whose brilliant (

) idea it was to do an almost complete rip-off of the "who killed Tom King"-storyline. That's some quality style writing right there.....
