October 13, 201015 yr Author Member Shutters, pool, who cares? She has a house in the South of France. Unless that house suffers an infestation of abnormally large rats, I am all over it. What i would give to have a place down there! Carla Bruni's family castle in Cap Nègre beats Joan's house, though.
October 13, 201015 yr Member Alphan, you are hysterical. As usual! I mean, why the rich chose Côte d'Azur & similar places as their favourite ones? And then you go on to say that the main reason you don't get it is the lack of vegetation or whatever. Why don't you go and live in the Democratic Republic of Congo or the Amazonian forests?! Or Indonesia? You obviously haven't heard that the Mediterranean people are famous for their long lifespan and very good eating habits (the Mediterranean diet). Well... i'm not a tropical person, either. But I certainly understand the love of places such a Hawaii, Fiji... when I speak of green, I just mean places that have grass and trees, Martha's vineyard, up the coast of Maine, upstate New York. I just don't understand the appeal of arid climates, unless of course, you are next to the sea... that I TOTALLY get, the Meditteranean coast is BEAUTIFUL. Yes, I've heard of the meditternean diet, but you can eat that anywhere you live. Although olive oil is not my cup of tea, so to speak. Edited October 13, 201015 yr by alphanguy74
October 13, 201015 yr Member It must be a European thing, because we certainly have shutters around here, but I have yet to see them extend all the way down, around here they always stop at the bottom of the window. I'm glad to hear she's redone some of the landscape, it certainly needed it. More color would certainly be a big plus. Oh, see, those aren't just shutters for the windows...all the windows that have shutters on them are French doors, they all open completely and need covering in stormy weather and during the year when the house is closed.

Too splashy. Though, many rich people own a tropical island somewhere, but rarely visit. As for the diet, I wasn't aiming for that. Of course you can eat Siberian food in the middle of Indonesia, but dieticians recommend that you eat seasonal food and according to your environment (which is why Siberian in Indonesia is idiotic and so is Mediterranean in Greenland). I brought it up because it's as if you implied it's unhealthy to live there (arid, sun damage etc.). Perhaps I was mistaken.

What I meant by the dryness was premature aging of your skin, that's all. But as I understand it, arid climates are better for people with respiratory issues, however. And I agree seasonal local food IS the way to go, aboslutely. As a matter of fact, I just dug my sweet potatoes a couple days ago, some are almost as big as footballs! Hawaii and Fiji too splashy? Well, honey... give me splash, I have no need to live a beige life. Edited October 13, 201015 yr by alphanguy74

Ok... so now I get it. I couldn't see they were french doors from the distance of the shot. But since the home is in France, I guess it stand to reason that one would have many French doors!
October 24, 201015 yr Member From this weekend, I love that this is a picture she didn't even know was being taken...
October 24, 201015 yr Member Why the name change for this thread? Because when I saw "Great Women of Soaps" I was about to add Mona Kane Tyler, but I don't think that's what we're going for here.

Because when I saw "Great Women of Soaps" I was about to add Mona Kane Tyler, but I don't think that's what we're going for here. I know it's kind of blah — and, BTW, I requested it – but the other one was awful too in its own way. Then add that typo...
October 24, 201015 yr Member Don't forget about the wonderful Ada Davis McGowan Hobson. Look at her glamorous outfit here -- I think Elvis once wore this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-9_iQnE1ag&feature=list_related&list=SL&playnext=1
October 24, 201015 yr Member LOL, I was expecting Ada's collar to be a little more popped. I'm too impatient to watch the whole thing, but is that guy with the curlyish hair Charlie from AMC? Looks like him.
