Y&R: Episodes Discussion for the week June 22

Overall though, I found this to be yet another boring as hell episode. As mentioned, I'm so over this gaslighting mess and how stupid it makes everyone involved look.

Noah is the voice of reason, all those adults around him are idiots. However, I wish we could see Noah a lot more than he is being used, I get that he's recurring, but still. They can't just have him decide to want to be legally emancipated from his parents and use him sporadically, even if Jack talked him out of it today.

Stacy Haiduk has a great body.

I can already smell Adam and Patty Jane being in cahoots together down the road. Meh, I really don't care to see the two psychos join forces for more ridiculousness.

I felt he was channeling me when he said that. All coupled with those idiotic faces from Nick and Sharon.

I wasn't feeling him at first, but toward the end of the episode, he seemed to improve. Too early to tell, really. I think the way he did the "blind stare" ws off kilter somehow, that's what I noticed, at least. On a good note, Yani Gellman did much better today, he was so hesitant the other day (As dee dee pointed out) in the scene at the ranch, but then again, that entire scene was awkward, stilted, and just down right uncomfortable. His confrontation of Ashley today in the courthouse was genuine and beleiveable, and the previews for tomorrow of his expression, when Adam is touching him, is a combo of "WTF?" and yearning unrequited desire. I think he'll be good when they finally give him some scenes to sink his teeth into. I just wish that he had been given MORE backstory and time to build the character, they seem to be throwing him in the deep end of the pool, with insufficient caracter development. All that screen time which was spent with that STUPID CHIPMUNK needed to be spent developing Rafe.

I still think not developing him was a deliberate writing choice. They probably want viewers to be shocked at the idea of straight Adam using a man to get what he wants. Rafe as a character may not be relevant. He's just the gay man who is being used.

Ugh. NOT SACRIFICED! Not necessarily. Can we let the writers write? ;)

Even if the "blindness" was signalled (soaps aren't always expected to be subtle, are they?) I like the twist very much. I also like the idea of having a full-time visually impaired character on the soaps. It worked nicely with Hope, and I think it will be nice to see that again...this time with the "blindness" not necessarily all wrapped up with "virtue" and "goodness". A blind b*stard is a wonderful little nod to diversity.

I think the twist is too cute by half. I don't enjoy seeing the writers pat themselves on the back, which is what I get from this twist, and some other moments like all the stupid chipmunk stuff. I know I'm being petty, but after what they've done with Adam I can't be as objective as I probably should be.

So based on tomorrow's episode I have concluded that we have these interchangeable characters in the Mac/Billy/Chloe- Sharon/Nick/Phyllis dynamic. Since the stories are so plot heavy I have to point out that based on current states the stories being done on each triangle have been done on the other within the last year at most. Boring! Next up lets see what they do with Nina-Jill-Katherine and Victor-Nikki-Ashley-Jack. Adam is up in the air there are just too many holes in his current story.

This show is a blazing hot mess.

I don't see to enjoy it anymore unless Cast, Cooper, and Walton are on, and even that story has major problems, but it's just a joy to watch those women.

Yeah, at this point I'm watching more for performances than plot interest.

Yes me too. I have to wait even longer now for exceptional dialogue it seems as well

Well, when Lisa Connor has written two out of the four scripts that has aired this week, you know you'll have to wait for good dialogue.

Michal Muhney looks like he has fetal alcohol syndrome.

I wonder if that's for the part, or just him. I'm one of the few who has not seen Veronica Mars, so I don't know what he was like there.

I can't judge Muhney's acting in this role yet, he didn't have much to do in today's episode. His facial structure is a little hard, so I can see how some would interpret him based on that alone, but I didn't think he was hideously bad in his first episode, especially given the circumstances of him being on this show. I think he plays the faking blind thing a lot better than Engen did based on this one episode though.

IA it's too soon to judge, but so far I like him.

  • Love the new Adam. He's amazing. And yes, he does have chemistry with Vail. In fact they had a a sweet scene together. He's got the depth, the pathos, that's needed for the character. Engen had that Tom Cruise thing that made everyone love him, but this guy is the real deal. YAY! Poor guy though - he had no time to get in shape for a shirtless scene. Shame on them for making him do that!
  • What is Victoria wearing? Her scenes today with Victor was so HUH?
  • Nick asked Noah if he's going to keep mooching off his grandpa? I take back what I said - Noah go get emancipated from that jerk of a dad.
  • I shocked myself a little bit when I got SO happy during MJ's dream. Even then I knew it wouldn't take, but I was SO happy to see Jack say he only wanted MJ! Damn she's got the hottest body. If we don't get Vail in a bikini this summer, at least we get SH in her underwear.
  • Ashley is coming off as the Mayor's wife in The Color Purple! All that's missing is Ashley saying "I've always been nice to you people!" When Heather can look superior to Ashley, explaining why she didn't fight to have Estella put behind bar without bail, you know Ash is SAD.
  • I always knew they were waiting for the recast before they had MJ and Adam intersect. Good choice. And poor MJ, now Victor thinks she's the gaslighter! poor MJ.... :(
  • Previews for tomorrow - WOW!!!!!!!!
