Michael himself said he abandoned them.

Not many have to deal with Katherine & Jill.

She NEVER should've been with JT.

That was so OOC.

I know Michael abandoned them. That has been his motivation for cleaning up after Kevin and Gloria for years. Again though, the abandonment is not my big issue with bringing Philip III back from the dead after two decades.

I never liked Cane being the actual Philip III and how LML tried to minimize Philip III, Nina and Philip IV in the Chancellor family. I think that all should have been fixed. I just don't see the big need to have changed such a pivotal moment as Philip III's death just to do so and because MAB likes Thom Bierdz. Nobody was expecting or asking for Philip III to be brought back from the dead. Maybe it will be a great story, but it will take great writing to sell it.

Welcome phamie. I just started posting a short time ago also after lurking for some time.

hi phamie, welcome to the board

I can buy Michael's guilt. He was old enough to know that Kevin's life would be a disaster.

I buy his guilt too, I just don't think he bears the same responsibility a parent would to stick around and tough out a bad situation.

They have been playing Michael's guilt for five years now. It made sense to expain so much about Michael, but frankly I am tired of Michael's guilt being played as the reason he continuously is compelled to cover for Kevin and Gloria to the point that he risks his own family.

I agree. And Michael has done nothing but make amends to Kevin and Gloria for years. Not so much with Philip III. I wonder how they will rationalize him not being a part of his son's life. I hope once they get past the joy of his return, we will see anger and resentment from those he left also.

Thank you! I take it your are the one they call "Alvin"? Your welcome was the among the ones I thought I would not receive, so I am happily surprised!

Yes, I am Alvin, and I always leave a rude impression on people it seems.

Maybe it will be joy from Kaye and Jill, but anger from Philip IV and possibly Nina.

First time poster, but long time lurker here. This will probably get wordy, but I finally have the courage to post on this board (you guys get pretty hostile really quickly, so it may be my first and last post).

I'm a 52 yr. old female who has watched soaps on and off (when I had to work) since 1977. I first watched Y&R in 1973 when I was away from home on a summer job. I loved it then. However, when I became a regular soap viewer, I hated Y&R for two reasons: it took forever for them to move story, and it was always so dark (lighting wise). It depressed me and I hated that when I was in my early 20's. Never liked Dark Shadows (not into sci-fi), and for the most part my favorite soaps where AW, Texas (even tho' it was only on for 2 years), and Guding Light. Then, OLTL became my favorite, especially after AW was cancelled.

I realize that I am no longer the "target demographic" viewer, but I can tell you that I know what I like and what I don't like in a soap. Too much fairytale stuff bores me to pieces. I never liked Cliff and Nina Cortland, therefore I never liked Peter Bergman. However, since the year Jack married Phyllis, I have been hooked on Y & R. It's the only soap I tape and/or watch daily, anymore. It's those two actors that have realed me in. I like Sharon and Sharon Case, but for totally different reasons that I like Phyllis and Michelle Stafford. There were always those girl next door types vs the red haired sirens in my real world. I know guys that are exactly like Jack and Nick (some I'm even related to). So, their storylines work for me.

The usual posters on the Y&R thread here, are often the most talented and thought provoking posters I've ever read on a soap message board. Rarely are there cat fights, tho' they've been increasing lately for some odd reason. I know there are a lot of male posters here, and I've really enjoyed seeing things from the male perspective. I usually tell if a poster is young (below the age of 30), or if they've had the decades of soap viewership that I have had. I love the diversity of the male vs female posters, the young vs the "seasoned" posters, and the caucasian vs all other. All of this to say that the diversity on this board is the primary reason I come here daily. No other soap board intrigues me this way. You guys rock!

I use to post on another board years ago, and one lady and I became very good friends off board. She never knew the actor's names, never knew who wrote, directed, or produced anything, because she said it destroyed her ability to enjoy the show for what it was. I totally agree with her. After reading the Y&R threads each day, I can see where folks get so sidetracked by the "details" and lose focus of why they even watch the show anymore. I really don't care who wrote what, I care about the story. I've lived long enough now to actually know people in real life who have done so many things that I see on my favorite soaps. It's that relatability that makes me tune in each day. When a soap gets too crazy for belief, I will dump it (even if I've watched it for 20 years like I did when Days became all about the DiMera family.) I've never known anyone like Nikki (example only), so I really can't buy anything this character does or doesn't do. I don't worry about contract negotiations and the like because that crap destroys whatever I may feel for the character they portray, as well as the actor.

It's just my opinion, but I truly think if people would just ignore all the "business side" of soaps, they would actually find themselves enjoying their soap again. If they still don't enjoy it, then ditch it.

Yes, MAB likes Thom... but that's not the primary reason for what she's done. She did this mainly because Bill Bell stated many times that killing off Phillip III was his greatest regret in the entire history of the show. I never ASKED for him to be brought back from the dead, becuase I dared not DREAM it would happen. It was something I and many fans LOVE and are EXTREMELY excited about... we just always thought it was a pipe dream, so we never tried to lobby for it. And I agree... it's going to take some good writing to sell it. But it's also going to take some MAJOR acting to sell it, too... and Bierdz/Cooper/Walton/Cast can sell turds to the tidybowl man, make no mistake.

So I just watched earlier...

I want to like Billy merely because of BM, and the writers are making that very difficult especially after today..At least EH rocked it today..Her line delivery sort of reminds me of MS, the character in general has shades of Phyliss.

I say this everytime I post, but who cares...I love MJ. She's batshit crazy but I love it. My favorite psycho from recent memory hands down. SH has brought her A-game.

I wish I could care that Victoria's in the hospital again but I don't.

Pharmie, welcome to the board... and don't be shy or afraid. I know we cna get vicious at times, but it's more like sisters bitching at each other, at least for me, I love spirited discussion and I suppose I'm a frustrated debater, as I love to argue my position and opinions. I actually LOVE the dark lighting on Y&R, I guess for me, it lends a sense of "elegance". The original producer John Conboy, was the one who started it, he felt that if the background sets were darkly lit, it would focus more attention on the the actors' faces, and the viewer would be able to be more emotionally "sucked in" to the story. I love the details... the actors, the production, the background music, I just enjoy it all. For me, at least... it doens't cut down on my enjoyment of the show at all... SPOILERS on the other hand... I feel are daytime's biggest enemy.

Well, I truly wish for you and fans like you that this story is all you hope it will be.
