JVA's Gloria did remind me of Flo.

I only have spotty memories of Flo, more conversations with Nina than any actual stories. I know she had the story where she dated David's alter ego. Did she move to Florida? Or did she just disappear? I don't know what Sharon Farrell has done since then; the last time I saw her was when she used to show up in the Mister Blackwell-ish section of Soap Opera Weekly.

Whatever happened to that beautiful apartment set Nina had?

After Nina left, Malcolm moved into it... then it became Marsino's. I have to say, I am literally crapping myself with delight at the prospect of seeing Thom Beirdz on my screen on a regular basis. The Advocate needs to do a freaking FEATURE on his return, and all the gay possibilities therein. Let's remember, Thom has said in interviews several years ago that he would not return to acting unless he played a gay character. Something tells me that the love intrest for Rafe is going to be Phillip III!!! And can you imagine the romantic scenes between those two actors? Who needs porn!!!???

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Let Thom Bierdz be Phillip-back-from-the-dead! I always considered him to be Jill's son AND Little Phillip (who's really not so little anymore) is gonna need his dad! If Phillip IV is gay then Phillip III needs to be there for his son. Let his mom Nina stick around too! I want the three of them to be the cute family that they once were all those years ago.

My memories are a bit murky on this, but I seem to remember them bringing Phillip into the hospital, we SAW him in the emergency room on an examining table, but I don't think we SAW HIM DIE. I remember the Doctor (Was it Dr. Steele? God forbid, I don't think it was Casey) coming out to tell Jill and Kay, but I don't think we ever SAW him die, nor any body... Y&R NEVER has open caskets. I'm not sure of this... but that is what I remember.

I was going to say there might be too big of an age difference between Rafe and P3 but it's actually less than the age difference between Lily and Cane. If Rafe went to school with Billy, then he's 26-27. My question is, how old are P3 and Cane supposed to be?

Honestly, I would HATE for Phillip III to be gay. I haven't been posting much because I haven't watched Thursday or Friday yet, but I've still been keeping up with the thread. IMO, that would be a bad more for the story and the future of gay actors in general. Here we FINALLY have an openly gay male, which is much more controversial than an openly gay female, and you make him gay? How predictable . That certainly isn't going to help any of the gay leading men come out of the closet. Let Thom return and put him at the center of a freaking love triangle! Show that a gay man CAN be a straight leading man, regardless of his orientation. Not only that, but the character's history is too huge with Nina, Christine and potentially Phyllis, Victoria, etc. to throw that away. Phillip (if truly alive) should be a long term character at the center of things. Making him gay will limit his storylines and love interests and has NOTHING to do with the character history. It would be another thing tacked onto an already packed story. His return to Genoa City is like two years worth of story and should be the main focus. Throwing in the gay element will a distraction and jump the shark moment.

Another thing I was wondering...why is Adam always fully dressed if he's just staying at the ranch? This reminds me of what Sharon Case said about wanting more casual nudity on soaps. I don't think his wardrobe is representative of his lifestyle at all. I want to see some skin, but regardless, he is too dressed to be comfortable in his cell. I'd like to see more characters in the nightgowns, guys with their shirts off, etc., but not in silly places. Since most Y&R characters have a home it's very possible to do.

As I recall,Sharon farell went recurring and gradually,Flo was seen less and less.

I do remember her popping up one day after many months offscreen.

She continued to be mentioned ie Phillip is at my Mom's-and then like others before and after vanished from GC.

I just watched Y&R again with a friend and he thinks Jill and Neil would make a good couple!? And you know what - I like it! Especially now that she's broke. Plus if Dru ever returned it would be SO DAMN GOOD!!!

I'd rather Neil be paired with Nina or Victoria. I can see Kristoff having great chemistry with Tricia Cast and he's about the only non-relative that Amelia Heinle has romantic chemistry with. If Dru ever returned, a relationship with Vicki would be a throwback to their history since the last time Dru returned she discovered he was with her. She hated the relationship then, so imagine how she'd feel now. I also wouldn't mind a relationship with Olivia, but only if Dru were never going to return. The Winters are already so segregated that putting Olivia with Neil would isolate them once Dru returned. Pairing him with Vicki or Nina ties him with major existing families.

Unfortunately, I'm sure the writers haven't thought past Tyra for him. Shame because that relationship is killing both characters. There are plenty of characters in both of their age ranges without story that each could be paired with. It's cases like these when the three HWs are just being stupid. A lot they do is right, but what isn't being done is troubling because it's all so simple. Maybe if they utilized those back burner characters better it would improve the pacing, since they'd have more stories. They seem to focus on one or two things at a time and everything takes a backseat to that.

    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.

    • I decided this primetime soap deserved it's own thread as the Primetime soaps thread is very cluttered and why shouldn't NBC's Lorimar soap mot have a chance to shine? In doing a deeper dive into the second season ratings I was surprised to see that FR actually had an uptick in the ratings when NBC moved it to 9pm Tuesdays beginning March 82. I'd always assumed this move was a desperate one as NBC were running short of programming and had given up on the show, deciding to let the final episodes play out and be hammered by 3's Company  and CBS Movie. But the numbers paint a different story. In it's 10pm slot up against Hart to Hart, which regularly finished in the Top 20, FL premiered in 53rd place and placed in the 40's and 50's as the season continued. But come January 82 the numbers surged a little now moving into the 40's hitting #43 in Feb. Hart to Hart was #11 Then in March Bret Maverick was moved to 8pm with FR @9. First week 16th March FR #47 15.1/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Not great but #2 in it's timeslot March 23 FR #44 15.6/25 3's Company #4 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #33 So even with a stronger movie on CBS FR's numbers went up. March 30 FR #31 16.6/26 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #56 Best rating/position yet Tues April 6 pre empted Tues April 14 FR #36 16.0/26 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #11 CBS Movie #59 Maintaining previous week's numbers Tues April 21 FR #33 15.6/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Numbers down a little (reflecting general spring downturn) but best ranking of the season so far Tues April 28 FR #35 15.1/23 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #6 CBS Movie #42 Tues May 4 FR #27 15.2/24 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #4 CBS Movie #41 Season finale and highest position of the season. Looking at those numbers I wonder why NBC cancelled the show? They had very few hits and here was a show that was holding it's own and moving up in the rankings in a tougher timeslot. And being a serial, the storylines could continue to build the following season. And I'm sure the desirable W18-49 demo was good. Some might argue that CBS were shower weaker movies, but even so, soap viewers are pretty loyal. I guess Grant Tinker arrived at NBC and wanted a classier look but there was room for FR on the schedule. I mean, the following season Knight Rider,Powers of Matthew Star and the A Team arrived so there was still room for more populist fare. Flamingo could have stayed at 9pm-the replacement Gavilan bombed (surely FR would have done better} or moved back to 10pm. The following Jan NBC had a hit with A Team Tues 8pm. Had Flamingo followed it, it might have really taken off. As it was they tried Bare Essence, which flopped. Oh well,it was not to be...
    • Always, in every way, Cass/Wally/Felicia foundational to my viewing. And, I think if we look at the aftermath of the disastrous 90 minute show that we find too many pockets of some kind of lost time at the show plus way too much of change-ups in exec & writing leadership and of course we also reach the first time it becomes notable that NBC wants to get rid of the show so they can put a new soap they own in the timeslot.
