To me Anna Stuart's Donna was a consistent character.  I don't think she behaved differently except maybe for a short-lived time in the last 2-3 years.

I think what hurt Donna was a lack of respect for the character. The show begins degrading her in the late '80s and aside from a few periods that never improves.

Donna was totally driven by maintaining her (and her family's) social status until she fell back in love with Michael.  Then, by the time she was romancing Matthew, she maintained none of the same concerns.  And, I'm not even talking about the recast years when she completely regressed.  Her main conflict should have always been the dynamic between personal happiness and concerns about the judgment of others.

Rachel and Iris faced the same daddy-issues through every relationship they encountered.  Felicia was always conflicted about exposing her identity, due to a fear of rejection, both in love, her career, and with her daughter.  But, Donna was a much more poorly developed character, and therefore always felt less rooted in a central dynamic.  Which is a shame because she was played by such a wonderful actress.

I'm used to being the only person in any group who is critical of Jensen. Your post is so refreshing to me!

At Danos for Carmen.jpg

This picture popped up in my Facebook memories today. Linda Dano posted it. This is her place & people from the show gathering to celebrate Carmen Duncan, who had just died.

I love that they did this for Carmen.   I remember when Linda posted it.  I am pretty sure this is at a restaurant though and not at Linda's place.

Oh! Could be. I don't have distinct info one way or the other.

I originally thought it was Joe Allen's in New York, but I'm remembering a different photo.

Really? Expensive and good quality? That is interesting information.  To me, the wig looked like something they picked up from a novelty shop on 42nd Street.  It looked like yak hair to me.

I'm just saying what I was told. And I am willing to believe that the show would invest in an expensive wig for one of their most high profile characters -- but also it really did come across onscreen as terrible.

When Marley came back briefly to visit Vicky in her coma, they arranged Anne's hair to make it look like a different and shorter cut. But it was probably too precarious for everyday. I agree that a French braid or prim chignon would have been a better option than the wig.

About 50 minutes in Marley arrives if you want to see the 'do in motion.

It was Joe Allen's where after a show, a Noel Coward with Alan Rickman & I forgot what woman. Anyway, I found myself sitting at a circular table right next to another circular table with Anne Heche & her party. That was when she was starring in PROOF which I had already seen twice. Anne is, or was, really a very special person to me. I spent the entire evening pretending I was paying attention to the people I was with when in reality I was listening attentively to every single word Anne said. How's that for star struck?!

Although once at the Chat 'n Chew I did the same exact thing only with Chloe Sevigny who is nothing to me except a good actress & on that occasion she was telling a very wild, involved story about this director, and OMG!!

This is my Digital Files List, also called a Trader's List.

I am looking for any Another World Edits, either by character, or couple or storyline. Like many people I have some Anne Heche edits. I also have Connie Ford edits. I have all of the KBAY Match Dare Telethons plus 4 Christmases where the cast goes caroling. Last of all I have the 11 files that make up the Bench Fund-raising Videos: Mac & Rachel, The Lovely Ada, Carl & Rachel, Cory Christmases. I've heard that someone out there has Josie & Gary Edits.

Looking back, I wonder if part of the issue was the need to differentiate between Vicki and Paulina?

I think this is good assessment. The nuPaulina was more like Vicky so it didn't leave room for two Vickies on the show.  I still don't understand why they didn't just cast Evans as Vicky if they wanted her so much. It would have at least made sense since AW viewers might have been more likely to watch DOOL.

I suppose execs thought hiring Jensen Buchanan would be a big "get" but why would OLTL fans care that she moved to AW? Buchanan and Evans started around the time and I remember the audience reaction was not positive to either actress in the beginning.

According to AWHP, Judi Evans auditioned for Vicky but she didn't get it.

That's weird @AbcNbc247 because the SOD reporting from Judi Evans's side of the story is a bit different.  Both could be true, but it sounds like AW was actively pursuing her.

Interesting.

She is listed in the Failed Auditions section. Maybe we need to research this a little further 😂

Perhaps, she auditioned for Vicki prior to DAYS, and then was cast as Paulina years later?
