GH: May Discussion Thread

It was nice to see Robin and Patrick back together today. They brought the pretty. The baby who plays Emma is a sweetie.

I hate this Luke/Ethan/Holly story. I want all of them to die painful deaths.

Olivia needs to cover up her fake boobs. She is too old to have those things busting out. Guza has never seen a pair of big boobs that he doesn't want to display and fondle.

No words for Maxie choosing that over Johnny.

Ann_SS, do you mind if I add one word to your comments about Luke/Holly/Ethan? How about them dying VERY painful deaths? I'm so sick of the three of them I could scream.

The writers making Ethan Robert's son (possibly) doesn't change the fact that Luke CHEATED on Laura and then gave her GARBAGE about Nik, later on. Luke is such an odious worthless piece of crap, to me, now that I can't stand him.

It's just painful (VERY painful) watching GH these days.

Sonny and Jason's son has finally opened his eyes and now that the boy has spoken, I'm waiting for the relapse!

My aggressive tendencies kick into high gear when GH is on.

NorrthCafe, I do not mind at all. I am so pleased that I am not the only one that this story is driving up the wall.

Luke is simply pathetic now. Oh, let me share some news with you:

Just when you think that this story couldn't suck worse, Guza proves you wrong.

Well Holly met Lucky for the first time on Friday and they had a big confrontation where Lucky really went off at Holly. I think Lucky's anger was something she really wasn't expecting. Its telling that it was after her meeting with Lucky that she told Ethan and Luke that Robert was Ethan's father.

So she's either decided to end her con game and confess the truth that Robert is Ethan's father.

Or she's lying ( and Luke really is Ethan's father) in order to spare Lucky's feelings.

Whatever the case there's still one more person for Holly to deal with and I just know that Robin is not going to be happy when she finds out whats been going on in her absence!

I've really been liking this story ever since they have bringing others into it. For three months it was just Luke, Tracy and Ethan (with appearances by Lulu and Lucky) but now they have brought others into it...heck even Edward and Monica got to add their two cents worth last week.

As for the other storylines, I love that Jason asked Monica for help with Michael and Michael looking up to Jason as his mentor. I hope Jason and Monica can be the ones who provide stability for Michael while the rest of the adults (Edward, Sonny and Carly) squabble over him.

Liked Robin's scenes with Patrick at the restaurant and hope they can get things back on track.

Didn't like the way that Spinelli seemed to be rubbing the fact that Johnny slept with Olivia in both Maxie and Lulu's faces. Though the fact that Lulu didn't seem to give a damn was great lol.

Oh, count me in on the hate for the Luke-Destruction SL. I am pleased that Luke and Tracy get some story that isn't ridiculously filler or full of "funny" antics. However, the whole thing feels like an agenda -- to destroy the Luke & Laura legacy once and for all.

Not saying this was a Love for the Ages -- L&L had their problems, ranging from that rape (which Guza wisely revisited back in the 90s) to running from the mob, to Nikolas & Stefan and all that. I just HATEHATEHATE the way the writers are telling us that everything that went before was a lie! I watched it with my own eyes. For better or for worse, Luke and Laura were in love with each other -- obsessed with each other. They resented each other, too, but couldn't get the other out of their system. So don't pretend that it was deluded Laura who held her husband back from fulfilling his true potential! And that Luke hated his kids and was a drunken father because I didn't see that either.

Now that Laura is gone, the hate seems to be targeted at Lucky. Huh?

Even the Luke-loves-Tracy stuff. I'm glad these two misguided sould have found each other, but TIIC don't need to destroy Luke's previous relationships in order to big this couple up. Robin never minimized the impact that Stone and Jason had in her lives, and that doesn't make her love for Patrick any less strong or attractive to Scrubs' legion of fans.

Just wanted to add: the Holly I used to watch also was not some callous ho who uses the babies she abandoned to trick her ex-lovers. Holly had a past as a con, but she was also a fun, sympathetic character who was resourceful and basically decent and transformed by her love for Robert. In other words, a heroine.

Robin's situation is unique. Even Guza is going to be careful around with Stone as Robin's first love who died from AIDS, plus he constantly uses Stone as excuse to why Robin is so guarded with her heart even though Jason's betrayal is more likely the reason. Talking about Jason, he is basically a soap god to Guza so there is no way that any of his former loves are going to diss him or Sonny for that matter. In contrast, Jason declares every single one of his women is his greatest love and that he has never loved any women like her before. Jason did not even act concerned when Robin was infected with the monkey virus, he was too busy saving his new love Sam and her brother. Liz declared that she loved Jason all along even when she loved and married Lucky the first time around. Guza's apparently has a pathological need to destroy Luke and Laura, but having his characters dismiss and denigrate their former loves is the norm.

Even though I'm sure Rebecca is hiding something, somehow.. Lucky and Elizabeth, especially Lizzie are becoming extremely annoying. Yesterday's scenes with picking out her outfit and her makeup just seemed so childish. I'm sure Liz means well, but seriously.

I love how Ric keeps showing up at Sonny's house talking to Claudia and Sonny shows up. Seriously, Claudia needs to be exposed.

^^ Baby Emma is the best actor on GH. And the cutest. Did you see yesterday when Robin was rubbing her back while rocking her to sleep? That baby actually acted being asleep for a minute or two (before getting restless and stealing the scene anyway). I never used to be a Scrubs fan -- I always thought Robin was like a harpy during their courtship days -- but I *love* their scenes now. LOVE.

I have noticed that, too. Destroying other writers' very popular pairings seems to be Guza's M.O. But the Luke/Laura/Lucky destruction seems "more." As you say, it seems like a pathological hatred.

I usually like Liz on the whole, but girl was on self-righteous Bitch Mode yesterday. When Nikolas & Rebecca were about to have dinner and she spat about "lamb and mint sauce" being Emily's favorite? It was like LIz = 12 year's old. And, OMG, how weak is this SL? Rebecca wears a light-colored shirt and reads a book in front of the fire and she must automatically be channelling Emily? Duh, NO, Rebecca channels Emily because she looks and, um, like, sounds EXACTLY like her!

JOlivia. I like!

I think the Ethan disaster is "more" because Tony Geary is more than happy to go along with the destruction. Kimberly McCullough seems to have a very strong reluctance to go far with trashing the Scorpio legacy or trashing Robin's previous relationships, and as long as she stays around, someone is going along with her wish. I remember when she left in '98 and they trashed Robin badly on her way out of town. Her entire return in 1998 was horribly written and made her look bad.

I like Johnny and Olivia together. I wish I could enjoy this story instead of wondering when Johnny is going to be ruined because everything has to be about Sonny.

Here's the Serial Drama gals parsing Tony Geary's recent ridiculous interview (I think my favorite part is when he basically says Luke likes Holly because she's a whore...)

    • I think all the suits are fit too tight, except for Jon Lindstrom's. DC lawyers/doctors are not all LA fashion elites. Yes, maybe Tomas would have a more modern cut to his suit, but an established guy like Bill wouldn't go around looking like that lonely button on his jacket was ready to explode constantly.
    • I do think there's room for optimism, especially with Amazon making enough new episodes to last until December. There's still time for the various players to get their ducks in a row. Guess we'll know soon enough!
    • I do agree it's better to just have people pop back into town. I never understood why Roger needed a mask on an island, when neither Fletcher or Alex would've known who he was. And the vine...sigh. Couldn't he have just been sent crashing through a window or something?
    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.
