Same here. However, it'll be a shame when Kathy Brier and Chris Stack exit, b/c Michael and Marcie lend a down-to-earth quality to the show that is refreshing (IMO). They aren't as campy or OTT as many on the show are.

Oh, I think Lola, Vanessa, etc. will be gone way before that. Nothing about them says "long-term" to me, anyway, which is why I'm not as worked-up about them as others.

I will only accept Marcie and Michael leaving once they get baby Hope back. That would be a beautiful, fitting conclusion to their stories. I will also accept if they stay, because they are interesting and fun characters.

As for LolaNessa... I say recast both actresses first and then see how the story goes, then get rid of them if it still bombs.

I actually have really grown to like Camila Banus as Lola. She has an underlying darkness to her and I think she can be a GREAT two-faced bitch for the younger set, and the rest of the canvas would HAVE to give her a little leeway because she's Langston's cousin and last blood relative and Langston's only connection to her family that's left in Llanview (since Ray's in prison at the moment). Starr/Cole/Langston/Markko are all such great friends that they need Lola to shake them up a little. I see great potential in her, even if it turns out she killed her mother and blocked it out.

Vanessa however, needs to go, and I'd accept the rewrite of HER being the murderer just to get her off my screen. The sex between Cristian and Vanessa wasn't even hot and both the actors are sexy as hell! Of course because David Fumero couldn't subtext his way out of a paper bag, and I've already gone off in one of these OLTL threads about Jacqueline Hendy not being allowed to play her strengths in this role and actually show us who Vanessa is. So the whole sex scene fell flat because we didn't see any of this tension building up over time. It was just horrendous.

ITA with Marcie/Michael's down-to-earth quality, and I find them refreshing as well. They're such a great underdog couple, I'd hate to see them leave the canvas because they could really throw any relatable story to them and they'd make it human and interesting, while everyone else is running around talking to their other personalities, shooting Iraqi boys, and coaching people to jump off buildings because of rape. I really wish they'd explored Michael/Layla more while he and Marcie were so distant because if they'd committed to it, we might have started to see an affair forming that none of the parties involved had seen coming until they were in the middle of it.

Tika Sumpter is another one who hasn't been allowed to play her strengths. She's a gorgeous woman, and when she first came on Layla wanted to be an actress and didn't seem to have a problem lying. I thought she'd be a great villainess for the canvas to balance out her virtuous, grounded sister Evangeline. But she became everyone's friend instead of giving her a story. She's the perfect example of a great actress whose character has never had a commitment from the writers. Have roommates Layla and Talia EVER had a conversation about having both been involved with Antonio?!

The problem I have with OLTL right now is the characters I wouldn't miss are the characters who are onscreen 3 to 4 days a week, like Todd, Starr, or Marty.

They've made me care about Jessica, so that's a nice surprise.

I hope Scott Clifton repopularizes vests among men, because he looks mighty nice in his vest.

I happen to still find the DID storyline to be a riveting and totally new take on the idea that they've never done before on OLTL. They're really exploring the trauma that comes with the disease for the people around the ill person, and what it means to have to try and recover and raise a family.

Is the oral sex really a big deal?

It's not like they showed her pull Tuc Watkins' lil' Buddha out of his pants (not that I'd be complaining! YUM!), and showed her really doing anything. Maybe he just likes her to tongue his belly button?

I thought it was a funny way to show that Dorian can make a man do ANYTHING, even lose his religion. If champagne and caviar weren't doing the trick, she needed to use her sexual wiles. Nibbling his earlobe wasn't going to do the trick, obviously she had to take drastic measures.

I didn't mind it, and it wasn't terribly graphic. Or is it Dorian's age that has people grossed out? Would it be so upsetting if it was Jess/Tess/Bess and Brody? Natalie & Jared?

Dorian deserves her oral sex too!

It wasn't that Dorian gave David a blow job, per se. For me, it was ridiculous because...okay, we're to believe that Dorian Lord, grande dame that she is, gives head at the drop of a hat, in her living room? It was so out of place and just silly, really, and the way comical way it went by didn't help. It makes Dorian look like a cheap ho.

Not like Dorian never blew Victor Lord in his hospital bed. Emerald pendants and sable coats don't buy themselves. I think Dorian just wanted some action, a little challenge you know, a lot of ladies take just as much (if not more) pleasure in the *giving*. Not to say that I wasn't TOTALLY jaw drop surprised though. Dorian was already boasting those store-bought boobs that day, but I had no idea that such sexually-driven scenes were to come. Come to think of it, maybe she didn't even have to use her mou... I'm gonna leave that alone. As the church mothers used to say, "Y'all pray my strenf in Chrice." :D

It was a challenge! Dorian has never met a man she couldn't wield power over, and it took extreme measures to get David where she wanted him! Maybe she was giving him a foot massage!

It's true, it's not often that we see the hintings of oral sex on TV, but I wouldn't say it was any more graphic than some of the shower scenes on this soap or others.

I actually think a handjob would have been more graphic and inappropriate. And most of Dorian could have stayed above the table.

    • Now this strikes me as funny. I have it up on my acct. The thing is I only have S2. Didn't want either 1 or 3.  Perhaps I should just list all of these that I have up.  Parodies: Dirty Sexy Money, Filthy Rich Incomplete: The Monroes, All That Glitters, Falcon Crest (have all just not all up), Once & Again S2 only Complete: Models Inc, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, Paper Dolls, Flamingo Road
    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.

    • I decided this primetime soap deserved it's own thread as the Primetime soaps thread is very cluttered and why shouldn't NBC's Lorimar soap mot have a chance to shine? In doing a deeper dive into the second season ratings I was surprised to see that FR actually had an uptick in the ratings when NBC moved it to 9pm Tuesdays beginning March 82. I'd always assumed this move was a desperate one as NBC were running short of programming and had given up on the show, deciding to let the final episodes play out and be hammered by 3's Company  and CBS Movie. But the numbers paint a different story. In it's 10pm slot up against Hart to Hart, which regularly finished in the Top 20, FL premiered in 53rd place and placed in the 40's and 50's as the season continued. But come January 82 the numbers surged a little now moving into the 40's hitting #43 in Feb. Hart to Hart was #11 Then in March Bret Maverick was moved to 8pm with FR @9. First week 16th March FR #47 15.1/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Not great but #2 in it's timeslot March 23 FR #44 15.6/25 3's Company #4 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #33 So even with a stronger movie on CBS FR's numbers went up. March 30 FR #31 16.6/26 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #56 Best rating/position yet Tues April 6 pre empted Tues April 14 FR #36 16.0/26 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #11 CBS Movie #59 Maintaining previous week's numbers Tues April 21 FR #33 15.6/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Numbers down a little (reflecting general spring downturn) but best ranking of the season so far Tues April 28 FR #35 15.1/23 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #6 CBS Movie #42 Tues May 4 FR #27 15.2/24 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #4 CBS Movie #41 Season finale and highest position of the season. Looking at those numbers I wonder why NBC cancelled the show? They had very few hits and here was a show that was holding it's own and moving up in the rankings in a tougher timeslot. And being a serial, the storylines could continue to build the following season. And I'm sure the desirable W18-49 demo was good. Some might argue that CBS were shower weaker movies, but even so, soap viewers are pretty loyal. I guess Grant Tinker arrived at NBC and wanted a classier look but there was room for FR on the schedule. I mean, the following season Knight Rider,Powers of Matthew Star and the A Team arrived so there was still room for more populist fare. Flamingo could have stayed at 9pm-the replacement Gavilan bombed (surely FR would have done better} or moved back to 10pm. The following Jan NBC had a hit with A Team Tues 8pm. Had Flamingo followed it, it might have really taken off. As it was they tried Bare Essence, which flopped. Oh well,it was not to be...
    • Always, in every way, Cass/Wally/Felicia foundational to my viewing. And, I think if we look at the aftermath of the disastrous 90 minute show that we find too many pockets of some kind of lost time at the show plus way too much of change-ups in exec & writing leadership and of course we also reach the first time it becomes notable that NBC wants to get rid of the show so they can put a new soap they own in the timeslot.
