I've never been so invested in anything involving American politics ever but this feels so much bigger than just America. I feel like the whole world is watching with bated breath to make sure that orange blob doesn't become leader of the free world.

But the sad thing is that Trump's success is not an isolated occurrence. All around the world misogyny, xenophobia, and homophobia are running rampant. We read about all the time in the newpapers and see it on the news. The Brexit referendum became a lot more about immigration than it should have been, gay pride parades are being attacked all over Europe, and right-wing parties are flourishing all over the place. In polls our own right-wing party (with its roots in neo-nazi circles) have the support of around 17-18% which is something I never thought would happen.

It's a disturbing and very alarming development.

 

I voted earlier this afternoon (#imwithher) but I'm not going to tune into election coverage until the polls are closed on the East Coast (8-9 pm EST) because I'm not with allowing the media make me (more) crazy as I have quickly come to realize that the media revels in madness and mayhem.

I cast my vote earlier today - went alright, other than someone telling me I was already registered to vote elsewhere (I wasn't - it was a similar name). 

 

I read that the voting machines in Colorado aren't working? Is that true?

I hope you're right. I would hate for this state to be on the wrong side of this election. Eventually we'll need to address the demographic issues that led to us leaning Trump.
