One last goodbye for onetime media hero Aaron Schock, who reminds us that he is just like Abe Lincoln.

Well, there was a lot of talk about Abe's sexuality too...and their names both start with A. So many similarities.

Ron Paul may be a crackpot about many things but he was a true believer even when it would cost him. Last time around he made all those republican debates entertaining by taking every one of the others on on every topic. Rand Paul is not as brave because he probably feels he has a realistic chance of securing the nomination, but he doesn't. His cause would have been better served sticking to his guns, getting that decent double digit share, and pulling his party towards his positions so perhaps in the future a libertarian might have a shot.

But alas he genuflects to the christians and the so-called values voters. More bible thumpers are the last thing this country needs. There are already way too much as it is.

Hopefully the fallout from Indiana will give other governors pause before signing off on such idiotic legislation. A "religious freedom bill" is nothing but legalizing discrimination, straight from the horse's mouth (so to speak):

The perils Hutchinson faces were made clear Tuesday morning when Pence insisted he'd "fix" Indiana's law to make sure it doesn't allow businesses like Christian florists or bakers to turn away gay and lesbian customers -- which the bill's conservative supporters had said was one of their chief goals.

Wouldn't it be interesting to see what would happen if a service provider somewhere decided not to do business with a religious conservative because they didn't agree with thier "lifestyle"?

That was almost funny. Who orders pizza for a wedding reception? But really it isn't funny because this kind of law is just creating ugliness and chaos. I'd like to believe that only a few fools care so little about profit that they are going to turn people away, but there are so many idiots out there. Are we headed for a country where people turn away anyone who's lifestyle or religion they disagree with? Are we going to have to call a business up to check if they serve "our kind" (whatever kind that may be) before we go?

I read another article on this guy. He's divorced. When asked how that reconciles with his religion, he said he's still "working through it". Ugh.

I often wonder, if the paradigm were shifted and it were fundamentalist Christians being denied services, how would they react?
