Whitmer and Newsom have indicated they have no intention to run. This will likely lock up quickly, thankfully.

Has Mr. Sorkin been hitting the crack pipe again?

He did backtrack after Biden dropped out, but it's another reminder of what a fantasy world West Wing was.

Gutted about President Biden. I haven’t worked on a presidential campaign in decades but will do so now. I am going to do what I can to help democrats keep the White House (hopefully Kamala).

I'm with @Vee and several others here: the only thing we can do now is press forward and get behind Kamala Harris and whoever her VP pick will be like never before.  The time to point fingers and demand explanations will have to come after the election.

My father is feeling the same way. He was really hoping that Biden wouldn't drop out. He is upset Biden was pressured by his own party and the media to get out.

He will still support/vote for Kamala but he is not happy.

I hope Joe is petty on the way out. I'd pardon my son and find a way to cancel even more student loan debt (if not all) on the way out. But wait until after November, Joe.

That aside, nobody better not even imagine or entertain the thought of leap-frogging over Kamala. She IS the head of the ticket now. Respect Joe's wishes. Slap a White man next to her and let's move on. I have high hopes for her and know she can win.

However, I will NEVER forget how the media and politicians did Joe this past month. It was just foul. The second a lot of these spineless wimps are up for election, I am going to be screaming and shouting for their Democrat opposition to win.

I wished Biden didn't drop out either but I'm supporting/voting Kamala too.

There's rumors our there that another Joe (He's 76 years old) is considering running for president.

The money and endorsements are flooding in, so it's nice to see the party finally locking in.

Manchin's bid will go nowhere.

I guess you can't blame Manchin for trying, lol?

Yes, I can. We don't have time for bullshit. There are a lot of people in this country who are not  afraid enough of another Trump presidency (I don't mean you Khan, I know you see it). He was just out there praising Xi for controlling a billion+ people with an iron fist.

Stephen Miller is taking it well. I suspect this vibe is rampant in Trumpworld. They're not prepped.

He has lost a chunk of support since 2016. It's more all the rise in support for the right and their ugliness, as shown with younger men through the appeal of people like Tate, that makes me wary about how much more support he's picked up. And so many who, with help from the media, have rewritten his Presidency into being peace and prosperity.

It's literally insane. Not one day of his presidency was normal. He was either throwing hurricane victims paper towels, banning Muslims or stoking division and hate. He succeeded in defeating Roe V Wade and packing the courts with far right wing nuts. He's weakened the very checks and balances that slowed him down last time.

Ironically, it's the Beltway elite media trying their best to shore up sagging GOP hopes atm - guys like Jonathan Martin and Nuzzi complaining that it's unfair to the Dem voters(??) or that Project 2025 is boring.

Allow me to put it another way: if Joe Manchin were to toss his proverbial hat into the ring, he'll only get himself laughed off the stage, with next-to-zero delegates.  But, hey, if he wants to go tilting at dragons, lol!
