It's very unusual for any incumbent party to do this well in a midterm election, where they usually take big hits. The answer is abortion and the Dobbs decision. Plus IMO the general public being far more tired of Trump and the MAGA GOP than either their party or most media were willing to admit. That and a lot of crooked GOP-funded polls flooding the news space that allowed eager, bored Beltway media to be led around by the nose excited by the idea of a red wave and big drama in Washington again.

I'm not completely surprised. I had a suspicion for awhile these would be our results or close to them, but I'll admit the overwhelming volume of said polls had me second-guessing myself a bit recently. But we're actually doing even better than I expected initially - esp with the House still somehow potentially in play.

Republicans finally were 'the dog that caught the car' with abortion. Now they're paying the price, despite several months of their people and a lot of journalists claiming it wouldn't matter.

Cortez Masto is down a bit due to the late-coming rural vote in NV, as was expected. The question now is can mail ballots from Clark County, etc. make up the difference and regain her lead. I think it could go either way, we'll see.

It's been a pretty good night, whatever the final result on a few races. We can recoup well from a midterm like this regardless. I'm taking a break.

They're all gonna try for this again and they're gonna find it's not gonna work, again. Trump won't let the party leave him and neither will their base. I've said for two years he'll tank everything before he lets DeSantis take the spotlight from him; that's already begun. He will promise to run, take money and endorsements, not really run at all and then shiv anyone who attempts to run in his place. They'll tear each other apart.

I believe it was Jane who said the polls were not reaching women on abortion and how big of an issue it really was, and I thought she was right about that. I felt pollsters were antiquated in who they were reaching and/or in other cases driven by bro vibes and data, and that turned out to be correct. The pre-election polling didn't get those people, but the exit polling definitely did. 35% or higher in some states.

    • Millette Alexander got the short end of the stick once they killed off Joe. The Justin thing was a non-starter. Then she was briefly married to Alan's corrupt lawyer and HE was killed off. She was paired briefly with Adam and that ended because she believed Holly over Roger about the rape. Definitely, Marland had zero interest in her except as the therapist for the many, many of his female characters who needed therapy. It's not odd she left the show. One of the rare 1978 episodes on YT shows Alan going to Cedars for a physical check-up. He ends up with Sarah as his doctor. In between making mysoginistic comments about women doctors, he also openly flirts with her. It's very obvious they were chem testing Sarah and Alan. It's a really good scene. Bernau is both obnoxious and charming and Millette is amazing, trying to be pleasant and profesional without rolling her eyes at him, but at the same time maybe a LITTLE bit attracted to him. An interesting what-might-have-been. So it appears the Dobsons were actively looking for someone to pair her with, they just never found the right one for a long-term story.
    • I'm happy to read whatever you provide, @Paul Raven.

You've inspired me to add my 2 cents about this product placement debacle.  I absolutely HATE the way they are doing product placement in BTG. I really hope this doesn't catch on or evolve into more and more of these moments. It's incredibly off-putting to place them in a highly dramatic moment where we are still on the emotional journey with the character. What is next - Dani spraying the house while having a nervous breakdown? It makes me not want to buy the product they're selling. LOL. That's just me.
    • I always get the vibe that Martin/Smitty have an emotional abusive relationship set up... but I doubt the show will really go there with that element given that Martin is a Dupree (and we can't have the Duprees be portrayed in a negative light), and because it's a gay male relationship.   Even though abuse in the physical or emotional sense is a huge thing in a lot of gay and lesbian relationships. The Ashley/Naomi scene reads off to me for one reason....  Ashley was talking about the new scandal without any sort of mention and/or subtext.. considering she knew both Silk Press Sheila and Eva.  I'm not sure if the writers have forgotten, if Jen Jacobs isn't able to play subtext, or what.   It's just apparent the writers do not know how to write a young white millennial couple.. and perhaps they need to get a younger white script writer to be on staff... or let the actors play around with the lines to make them more natural/realistic.
    • This is as good a time as any to point out that the 90 minute show was, what I like to call  "cockamamie idea" of Fred Silverman, head of NBC Daytime Programming. He did so well at ABC & CBS but not so NBC. We learned this from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay, 2006, can be found on YouTube, audio only. Now, to be clear, Rauch was completely behind it. Only Lemay fought against it & eventually quit over it.
    • She was so wonderful. Glad your handle has been a tribute to her.
    • Hopefully Alan has learned to not interrupt or interject with pointless information while someone is in the middle of telling a story. I almost think it would be better if Alan was a producer behind the scenes.. and he just had the actors on screen talking and asking one another questions.  Those interviews tend to work better.
    • It was only recently announced that Denise Alexander passed away on March 5, 2025. She was my all time favorite actress and role model. She will be dearly missed.  Denise Alexander, ‘General Hospital' and ‘Days of Our Lives' Actress, Dies at 85
