That Biden story is stunning, as are the many other things coming out about him. Seeing his momentum worries me, but we've seen that before at this stage. It seems like we've been waiting forever, but I'm hopeful the first debates will help some of the neglected female candidates (particularly Harris and Warren). Also, the more Biden talks, the more he puts his foot in his mouth.

But, the thing is, even with all the stuff coming out about him, Biden stands the best chance, IMO, of us getting Trump out of the WH.  As much as I love Harris and Warren (and some others), their chances feel more iffy.

I honestly don't think any of that is going to matter. Biden, for all of his flaws, represents stability and sanity after three years of chaos and criminality. This time six months ago I thought Biden was a non-starter too but the focus groups and polling changed my mind.

And as much as some hate the idea of Warren or Harris as VP, the fact is that Biden is old enough where he could easily die in office or just choose to be a one-term president so his running mate will be vitally important. So instead of framing it as playing second fiddle I think of it as positioning for the future.

Exactly! I had this same thought.  I wish Harris had just evaded the whole issue with a standard "I'm in the race to win not thinking about being VP" for the reasons you stated.  No need to make it more personal, when being VP gives you a chance to get name recognition and build up a donor base for the future.

I wonder if she feels Biden may not choose her anyway, especially since so many have said she is similar to Obama.

I agree. I still think he could blow his chances, given his predilection for saying stupid things, but I think we're at the point where attacks based on being to right wing aren't going to have a huge sway in the primary, especially when it comes to a Congressman most people have only heard of because his daughter is a swimsuit model.

This is a very damaged and not overly compelling group of nominees, and the most hyped frontrunner, Sanders, is significantly damaged. This lowered the bar for Biden, and so far he hasn't done anything to hurt himself.

The general is another matter, but I am assuming the worst there anyway.

With Biden's issues with Anita Hill think it's a little problematic that a woman of color is being asked if she will back up an elderly white man on the ticket so far in advance of the voting. I think the response was more to the reporters asking the questions more than an actual swipe at Biden.

He wouldn't pick her anyway. He'd pick some generic white man that supposedly would not threaten white working class men who don't like the idea of a woman or person of color with too much authority.

She also isn't the first - Stacey Abrams was floated as VP. Whether intended or not, she may feel she's being treated as a token.

I do think if he gets the nomination, he won't pick a white man. There's just too much fear that a lot of voters would stay home.

One thing I've learned from listening to Mama Khan talk about the BTS doings at her church: Black women always follow the money.  Always.  (WOC just might save us again.)

Bernie's pandering ass can kiss mine.

These things barely seem to make the news.  Or are we all just tired from. All. The. Winning?

Just a refresher about what the CEO said late last year. (but trade wars are fun and easy to win, right?)

Ugh to that Bernie photo.

I feel some optimism today. As a Chicagoan seeing so many women in Chicago get elected to alderperson, City Clerk, City Treasurer, and MAYOR in Lori Lightfoot. All women of color by the way, 2 African Americans and one Latina, elected to the 3 most powerful positions in the city.

We have a ton of problems here like everywhere, and I am not happy with Lightfoots decision to back a TIF project she promised to oppose(granted she did get some concessions and it was going to pass under Rahm before he left office anyway) so maybe I am over-reacting, so I will give her a shot.  I am watching her inaugural speech at work today with so many others and it is inspirational. her tears made me tear up.

    • What AW stories do you think of as DOOLish? I mean AW, in a very positive way was KNOWN for its comedic elements. From Iris's maid, Vivian, to the naming of plants, to highjinks with Cass, Felicia, Wally & even Lily, plus remember Dee Evans & Tony the Tuna? In a way at one time DAYS had similar with Caliope & Eugene.
    • Were those reasons to do with having younger children on set? Other shows seem to manage. The ageing up of the kids has been one of the mistakes the show has made.
    • I agree.  Lemay was supposed to start in early 88 and we saw some of the writing on the wall with character reference from the past.  Notably, the core families Frames, Cory, Matthews.  The stupid Reginald Love was wrapped up.  Not even a year later Mary was written out of the show along with Vince and the McKinnons who came and left .  The previous writers tried to introduce a new family that never aspired with the viewers.  1988 was focused on the 25th anniversary of show in 1989 and suspect why Lemay was asked to come back in 88.  Prior to 1988, the storylines were so DOOL stupid.
    • That's true. He may have ended up keeping her on a recurring basis, like Dr. Michaels on ATWT. I'm trying to remember if GL had a similar long-running therapist.
    • Oh in terms of ratings I think it would have been in a dicey place probably even before then. I mostly was just thinking of if the show could have carried on creatively.
    • Even if by some miracle Knots Landing continued, 1994/95 it would have been killed by ER.

    • Assuming that Marland had been allowed to write the Carrie story the way he'd envisioned, Millette would've been involved in the story. And she might've played a role in Andy Norris' return (if the speculation on that had ever materialized, and Marland loved bringing back bad boys) But he doesn't seem interested in Sara's personal life. And the women of Springfield could only be analyzed so much.
    • This better be something, because as I said, so far it's just cliches and stereotypes -- the story we've heard a thousand times about the homeless person who doesn't want a home and prefers to live on the streets.
    • @rsclassicfanforever thank you very much for the recent uploads of season 13 containing some episodes that were skipped or glitchy on YouTube!  I had a look at 3172 though and there is no audio for most of it? Would you have a copy with complete audio? Fingers crossed! Thanks again!
